She sung 1st&2nd Soprano Harmonies Beyonce is a Coloratura Mezzo-Soprano, her voice is golden, clear, robust, & agile. It is her knowledge, technique, & execution that deemed her Lead Vocalist, because she really knew each part of her voice well, she has the commercial sound, that is a crowd pleaser, & she sung 1st Alto Harmonies, but mastered the other 3 Choral Chairs as well. Kelly Rowland is a Lyric Mezzo-Soprano, her voice is buttery, thick, & sultry. Her voice is reminiscent of Beyonce's in the mid-region, but her voice is slightly more sensual, & warmer when executed properly. As Soprano though her voice is airy & very clear, she is well trained. She sung 2nd Soprano Harmonies, & 1st Alto occassionally
I don't think Kelly sounds like Beyonce at all. Her voice is and has always been distinctly different and for her to be a lyric mezzo soprano with a high airy tone it's actually extremely strong for her vocal type. Most singers with her type are extremely weak vocally. As far as Beyonce is concerned her colatura has developed but it's still not as strong and deep as it. Can be. She has technique to her singing which helps her sound good. She also has sounds added to give her I strumentals lift and what you hear when she performs may or may not be her vocal ability. I have always thought Beyonce belts sounds more like screaming. She belts but it's an edge of tone and hitting a note instead of centering in the middle. It literally hurts my ears to hear her belt.

It's a shame that this is the only song where all four members of the original group sing equal leads. It really makes me made because you an clearly hear LeToya and LaTavia got talent. Seeing as that's the case, I don't think it would've been so hard as to allow them to sing lead on a few of the tracks instead of having Beyonce and Kelly dominate. Even if the songs were never to be released as singles, it would've been fine but if they did, I wouldn't complain.
This and The Only Gift by NSYNC share that odd distinction. They're not main title tracks, they're just special tracks for their hometown/fans, respectively.
They're not all singing equal leads. Although they all get solo parts in this song, Beyonce and Kelly got more parts since Kelly had two repeat verses and Beyonce sang not only a verse but over the chorus.

I felt the same way. Letoya was a stand out and my fav. I look at the DC4 videos and Latavia had so much pizazz- the camera loved her! They all sound good, but Kelly's vocals really sounds so sweet and soothing on a lot of the songs where she leads. Even in the harmonies. Also, this sounds like a song TLC would've recorded

It's a shame that this is the only song where all four members of the original group sing equal leads. It really makes me made because you an clearly hear LeToya and LaTavia got talent. Seeing as that's the case, I don't think it would've been so hard as to allow them to sing lead on a few of the tracks instead of having Beyonce and Kelly dominate. Even if the songs were never to be released as singles, it would've been fine but if they did, I wouldn't complain.
This and The Only Gift by NSYNC share that odd distinction. They're not main title tracks, they're just special tracks for their hometown/fans, respectively.
They're not all singing equal leads. Although they all get solo parts in this song, Beyonce and Kelly got more parts since Kelly had two repeat verses and Beyonce sang not only a verse but over the chorus.

your right, and she was allways the most voacal in interviews too, letoya was the jokster, she was allways crackin jokes, kinda reminded me of how you see michelle in interviews, but letoya said matthew used to amke her feel like she couldnt sing ebcuase he never let her sing lead on any of the songs.

What’s funny is Letoya and Latavia were my favorite members in Destiny’s Child when they first came out. I didn’t really pay attention to Kelly or Beyoncé in videos until Letoya and Latavia were kicked out. They stood out to me 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️.

I felt the same way. Letoya was a stand out and my fav. I look at the DC4 videos and Latavia had so much pizazz- the camera loved her! I personally wasn’t a Beyonce fan back then because i felt she over sang and “hogged” all of the songs and Kelly was too shy. Now i would love to see DC5 or let them release a song

Beyonce has said a couple of times in old interviews that, after Farrah left the group , "for the first time in the group all the members can actually sing lead" her exact words, talking about her michelle and kelly.
