I would like to thank Dr. Wang for this superb video. I am an administrator/moderator of two canine cushing's support groups and I've often shared this video with members, all of whom who benefited greatly and became much better advocates for their dogs. While a lot of it may go over their head initially, the more they learn, the more they understand. I have cared for multiple cushingoid dogs, all of whom have passed but if I were to have another dog that I suspected of having cushing's, I would not hesitate to book a consult with Dr. Wang. I am a fairly new resident of Tennessee so it's quite comforting to know that there is a veterinary specialty facility an hour away.

Commit? You mean commit to spending double or triple the cost of what I would spend going to the doctor and paying out of pocket, right? Lets face it and you know most veterinarians' purposely feed off the pet owners emotions in order to take the more expensive route. People today get into Veterinary Medicine just to make money, not to help the animal. I'm cringing watching your video but forcing myself happing I will learn something that might help my beloved dog. Soon someone will program an application comparing veterinarian cost to health care ! hopefully its soon!

Not to mention ... When Cushing's syndrome is induced by "vets" treating dogs with glucocorticoids administered for another medical condition like allergies.... That's what "vets" did to my dog!!! There are dogs on melatonin and flax lignans, and other holistic treatment alternatives with greater survival rates (and NO poisons that directly compromise the immune system and major organs such as the kidneys, liver and heart).

I really wish you could understand how untrue all of that is. As a veterinary nurse, I'll never make money...it's the animals that keep us in it.. doing extra long busy days sometimes with no time to take a break or even get to the bathroom, then usually repeat the next day. If you ever wanted to look at costs of vet school, how long it takes the average vet school graduate to be able to pay back their loans, and the suicide rate loosely due to things like this..you'd learn how rare it is for you to actually encounter a veterinarian that is not doing everything they can to help your pet and maybe you could trust them a bit more-that might help your beloved dog. *When veterinary bills and medical bills get the same assistance, and offer the same insurance they would be fair to compare, its nowhere near the same playing field right now. But take a look at an itemized medical bill before insurance touches it, not too far off.

@@amybrown4244 I am an active duty Soldier stationed in GERMANY and it is a HUGE difference in Cost. I can say with 1000% assurance ALL of us over here with our pets, DREAD returning to the states to once again get raked over the coals with vet bills. Also Insurance, briefs well BUT in the states I still had to pay 100% up front and then file for insurance reimbursement. That takes away from people who do not have hundreds or thousands of dollars to pay up front and then wait on the Pet insurance to reimburse 8 weeks later. Why is that??? That is not how human health insurance works? United States Vet cost is off the change and it does not matter if you have pet insurance, you still have to provide/pay the full cost upfront. Now if there is a pet insurance that allows us to pay only our portion up front and then the insurance gets you the rest, PLEASE tell me which pet insurance or Vet does that so I can be informed of this change. I have never seen a Vet Doc not making money or living in a very nice home.

The medicine is horrible for Cushing. I’m glad I was told, let him live out his life without it. I wouldn’t give him that medicine.

What do you mean about “horrible?” The cost or how your dog reacted or ???? I want to know because my dog will soon have a low-dose dexamethasone test to diagnose Cushing’s and I have been debating about whether or not to give her meds.

@@nancynewlin There is so much on the internet.
There are 2 types of Cushing. One involves the adrenal glands & one the pituitary glands. My dog had the pituitary type. Without sugar coating it. The medicine eats away at the brain. I asked my vet & she confirmed it. That is what the vet said but they use more gentle words.Follow veterinary secrets on TH-cam.
He is a vet that will give you more info on all different illnesses for cat or dogs.
      Cushings is one of them.
      Ask questions to your vet.
I didn’t make my decision based on cost. My dog is my baby. I would get a loan if it was out of reach.
I looked at the benefits vs outcome .

@@rbo2855 you mention the medication eating away at the brain, but you don't say which drug you are referring to. There are 4 medications as far as I know for treatment.
