Walrus ACS1 With Pedals - A Complete Rig For Your Pedalboard???

  • In today's video, I'm looking at the Walrus Audio ACS1. The Walrus Audio ACS1 is and all in one Amp- Cab sim that can replace your amplifier in the studio and for live use, but in my opinion this unit shines once you have a bunch of pedals incorporated.
    Here's what Walrus Audio say about the ACS1.
    The ACS1 models three vintage amp styles crucial to music industry history designated by their places of origin. When running the ACS1 in stereo, one amp can be used through both channels or mix and match amps and cabinets on the left and right channels with the L + R switch. Simply choose the channel you want it to modify, select your amp and cab model, and set your levels. Then flip over to the other channel and choose your amp and cab settings. If you would like to use the same settings on both channels, set the switch to the middle or “+” and dial in all your settings. They will be duplicated on the left and right outputs.
    Volume and Gain work together, similar to how they would on an amp. For example, increasing gain levels will also raise overall volume output so adjust the volume knob accordingly.
    Fullerton is inspired by the classically bright and clear Fender® Deluxe Reverb®. Crisp clean tones with loads of headroom that players have come to love over the years.
    London is inspired by a 1962 Marshall® Bluesbreaker® with a harmonically rich, valve-driven breakup. Articulate and sensitive response.
    Dartford is inspired by the legendary jangly high-end tones from a 1960s Vox® AC30 with all the bite and chime from the British Invasion.
    The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

    Paul, you're the only guitarist on TH-cam that more than half the time, I have to stop the video, pick up my guitar, dial in the effects, and try to replicate some gorgeous set of chords you just played. Which takes me down a rabbit hole for about a half an hour...then I can come back to the video. Thanks for all the inspiration.

    So having the reverb and delay behind the ACS1 is like having it in the “effects loop” so it doesn’t affect the dry signal

    Great video loving the sound of the Ac-1 sounds great and a very versatile to boot.I have been looking for some info on Amp pedals “ just wondering if it’s possible to run two amp pedals for wet dry in to monitors / or two amp pedals and one normal amp for wet dry wet. Would make a great video as far as I can see no one has done this video on ytube with amp/pedals Phil

      This is already stereo in/out so you can run 1 channel with all your effects and 1 channel dry. Get any ABY pedal (or a stereo pedal that still splits when Bypassed) put all your front effects in front, and all your ambient effects behind all on the Left and then run direct in and out on the right channel, instant wet/dry

    Hi! Thanks for the vídeo! I would like to ask you two questions. (1) Would the ACS1 work as a platform for a really high gain, like the Empress Heavy, to play metal? (2) Is there an effects loop in the ACS1 to put the modulation, delay and reverb after it? Thanks! Best.

    I don't know, usually if I want to get a good distorted tone, I go for a big tube amp distortion, so it's a little bit of a pity for me that this doesn't distort that much. I mean, it's like having an axe fx and instead of using distorted amp models you use a clean amp with overdrive pedals. But anyway very cool option to create stereo setups

    You guys find a way sound the nasty compression breathing? I love the tones I get but the compressor/limiter is awful for dynamic passages.

    Hi guy! Congrats for the video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 In your opinion, between the ACS1 and the Iridium, which one do you think is better and which one do you think has more real amp sound?
    THANKS!!

    • @TheStudioRats
      @TheStudioRats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your after clean amps the ACS, if you want a bit more dirt the Iridium

    • @McCambira
      @McCambira ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheStudioRats ok man! Thank you for the answer! I found the sound and response of the ACS1 to be more faithful, closer and with more realism and feeling of a real amp miked in a room than the Iridium. And the ACS1 has features that the Iridium does not. I prefer clean amp sound and leave the dirt to my overdrive pedals.

  • @MRxr400

    i think that's the best i've heard of this pedal. very nice. but, how much would you spend on all those separate high end pedals? for me, this idea of no amp set up would be my practice tool or quiet stage where i leave amp at home. probably at end of my existing pedal board. however, my over drive is all in my amp, so i'd have to add a drive, and i never use reverb with live, but probably a stereo delay and drive really makes these pedals shine like you've done. sorry, bit long winded.

    Doesn't seem - understandably given the price points - to have the fidelity of the Axe FX. That said, for a silent stage or function gig where the audience aren't there for YOUR tone, it seems a decent option.

    Hi Paul! You talk a lot about the feel, especially with regards to playing a real amp. In an older video you said you like the feel of the GT1000, which I absolutely agree with. When I switched to the Quad Cortex, the feel got a little worse. In the range of all the modellers and amp sims, where would you place the ACS in terms of feel? P.S.: I agree with the orhers, I love your licks and your playing!!!

    • @Utubewrk123
      @Utubewrk123 ปีที่แล้ว

      The quad which I
      put through the return fx of my amp feels great. It’s better feeling than the Kemper and the helix. I love my amps first but the quad definitely feels most like an amp to me. Just my opinion and as a gear addict since I’m a kid I think I know at least what I like and feel and sounds. It beats the sound of the other modelers that I mentioned as well. Cheers.
