- I tried a bunch of different voice changers to see how far you can push them while still sounding human. Is it possible to make yourself sound like a famous person? Do I manage to believably sound like a singing woman, a speaking old man and a singspeaking grandmother?

So I was recording myself reading a book for my students online and decided I wanted to try to sound like Morgan Freeman. I couldn't get the voice right in the correct range so I recorded it in my best Morgan Freeman on helium impersonation and just pitched it down to acceptable success.

the thing about pitch shifters is that when you pitch the vocals down 3 semitones it changed the key of the vocal i wish someone would create a plugin with an algorithm that if you you pitch the vocals down 3 semitones you can lock it to the same key so it changes the wrong notes into the right ones
Yo Roomie, I've had a lot of success with simple pitch and formant shifting to make my voice sound different. They way it's works is to shift the formant in the opposite direction to the pitch shift ie. Shifting pitch up 2 and formant down 2 (or more) will make your voice sound higher but keep the formants/resonance lower/intact. This gives you a smoother and more believable voice change. If you were to shift both pitch and formant in the same direction it just makes your voice sound noticeably shifted

An easy way to change your voice to a famous singer is to download and pay for voicemod. Then you can find who ever you want and almost sound like that person ;]

Actually sounding like any famous singer you want is possible by playing around with spectral layers, filters and stamps. You can even copy foreign accents to make your language sound like spanish for example.

When pitching up you have to turn DOWN the formant to compensate for the “chipmunkiness” and vice versa when pitching down you turn formant up. If you turn up both the formant and pitch, it’s just extra chipmunk

You really need to use a timbre formant shifter in combination with pitch shifter properly for a more natural sounding vocal morph. Formant timbre is actually probably more important in natural voice morph than pitch.
