It is almost hypnotic watching you dig and put the ground back filling this drain for the pond. You seem to amaze me with each video of how soft you can work the mouth of your machine.
He was working the Yanmar like a rented mule digging out those trees. I rented a like sized excavator last year and what I learned watching Chis saved me a lot of time and effort and kept me from making some dumb mistakes. It blows my wife's mind that I can sit and watch these videos for hours.
Well maybe not. I am a very female farm-born woman. In my 50s I built a little 20x30 house and had a basement made and they crane-lifted the house onto it, then they did septic field, dug a little pond and moved some huge boulders and stone slabs (on site finds) to be steps and landscape. I fell in love with the excavator, and bulldozer too .. watched those guys with their amazing skills and I was in love. Been watching these vids ever since ! :)
I’ve been around dirt work a bunch and this job would take the average yahoo about 4 days. You did it in one day and recorded it to TH-cam. Nice watching a pro at work. 👍🏻
Agree, it's impressive. If he's recording for TH-cam it's like he has a second job. The entire time he is operating he has to be thinking about what is good to record. I bet it's not easy.
@@robjohnson8861 nah it'll be a while for this kind of work. machine learning requires lots and lots of training data. everything is so different on each job it would take a very long time just to train the ai to do this. many years out for this sort of creative work. AI works best when someone has to make lots of one second decisions like, like watching a security camera (eg is someone there? no? good. is someone there? no? good. is someone there? yes. sound alarm) or doing machining (cut this part on this path, then cut this part on this path) he will retire before ai takes this particular job

I'm not an engineer. I hope you get the idea. Build a damn from this ground marker back 40 feet and give it a height of y and a slope of x/y or is it y/x. Those dimensions minus the current dimensions would give a total tonage of dirt needed. The mach would know how many passes it would need to make to get that amount of dirt or very close and he would tweak what else was needed. John looks like he is doing the work of a laborer so he can keep most of the money , I guess that’s why they didn’t replace Tim to keep more of the money . A business owners decision , hire you some help or do most of the work yourself. The more help you have the more you can end up being an adult daycare director too !
Just cause you have more people and get bigger doesn’t mean the profit gets bigger , but the problems can sure get bigger ! I do like a man that does his on work .

These guys have to stay the way they are or get way bigger for leveraging to work. I was in the masonry business and when the head cheese came on the job they helped the labor if needed to keep men putting bricks in the wall.

There's no chance of progression in the company; the other two employees own it and aren't likely to cut you in. They'll hire another Tim when they need another pair of hands badly enough to justify all the paperwork and costs of another employee.
Always nice to see someone who is clearly an expert operator of machinery working. Making a skill look simple is the clue. Nicer still when they talk to you, explain where necessary, and hold a conversation with you, not at you. Thank you.
I have spent 3hrs today on your videos and it has been great to see this type of work in POV. Not just about operating the digger either, as you demonstrate the knowledge and undersraning of land management needed in combination with experience to do these jobs. #unsungheros
1:03 it's very refreshing and satisfying to see those brier thickets being ripped out and removed with no thorns getting into my skin or anyone else's skin whatsoever. I usually get rid of those with nothing but a bush axe and garden tools.

Have been watching a lot of your past video and I have been enjoying them greatly, I have had many jobs in my lifetime from chef, soldier, sheriff’s deputy, and instructor for Autodesk CAD software but my love was away architecture and construction. Watching your videos made me remember that as a kid equipment operator was a big love too, thank you my friend for your talent and skills.
My wife just brought my dinner home from town she came in and said what you watching I says a guy digging dirt she watches for about 5 minutes and and says that's all he's doing digging dirt , and I say yep just dig in dirt. 🤔

At 22:50 the tamper sounds like a chopper flying over the drainage ditch. It just occurred to me, Chris has definitely worked on way more ponds and dams than any beavers I know, that's for sure!

It is so relaxing watching this with all the crazy stuff going on . So please keep em coming So I have a question is the ledges on the side of the trench cut to prevent collapse and or the use of a trench box .
I was hoping for the existing level to be lowered when the final trench cut happened but obviously the water level is to be somewhat higher due to the entry point height of the new drain.
I realize this is work and he's being paid to do a job, but at 65 years old, the little boy in me comes out remembering playing in my back yard in the home made sandbox my dad built for me playing with a toy excavator. We went to Florida when I was a little twerp and we brought sand home in buckets in the trunk of the car from the beach. WOW! Thanks for triggering those memories.

Just curious, saw that one stick out about 4-5 feet from shoreline, right about where the old overflow would have been. Noticed at end of video a surveyor stake in ground in line(?) between afore mentioned stake and capped off pipe. Just curious how some of this stuff grabs my attention. Great quick job. Sure hope you get that dredging job where you rescued the "rental".

What is happening with that golf range drainage problem we saw you walking around? You werent allowed to dig up the green, and the slope was quite steep.. Did I miss a video?

Small business owners are some of hardest working people out there whether it's straight laboring or scouting new jobs or paperwork.

The mini looks like a Tonka toy compared to the bucket on the 220.
