Thanks, Donnie, for sharing all the stories, metal detecting, and scenic views. This is a rare look into out mountain ridges. Howdy Donnie- used to love getting out in the mountains. Stay so busy anymore I don’t have time. Thank you so much for sharing all the nice pictures and scenery. God bless
Interesting. We can all find history if we look for it. You are in one of the most historic places in this country. In my younger days I explored the hills near Fairbanks Alaska. It was so interesting to find and follow old mining roads overgrown with trees and brush. Find old miners cabins that looked like the miner just walked away and left his belongings. I was always on the lookout for old Log Cabin syrup cans. I found a lot of them but never found any in very good condition. I always wonder about the ground people walked on before I got there.
Ah, to be able to scratch around all that land would be a dream come true. I live on the west coast and although there is great history here, it’s certainly not like your neck of the woods. Enjoyed this, thanks.
Once again sir, you did not disappoint. I enjoyed this video. I loved the finds. I love the .... well.... all of it. Thank you friend for your gift of East Tennessee to the ones whom are unlucky enough to not live there. I'm one of those. I miss Tennessee. I thought I was coming home in May. That has since changed. I'm in the desert I guess for long term. Please don't stop bring home to Las Vegas. Thank you Donnie. I appreciate you.
Very nice video. Always enjoy watching your videos and listening to your stories. And I saw a video on this one that I haven't seen yet. Have a great day.
Watching your videos have made me want to metal detect. I hope to maybe some this spring. We have an old road bed on our property and some old home sites. Your videos have inspired me to get out in the mountains again.
Love this! It’s all so fascinating!! I’m from Houston, where everything all around is concrete and buildings. So it’s hard to imagine places that are still untouched and pristine. One of the many reasons I love your channel!
Thank you so much my friend. You really think so? I been showing these finds in videos over time, but no one seem to care. History is out there waiting to be found it's story told. I'll get lucky under the right rock one day Lord willing.
That’s fascinating Donnie. That’s a big collection of finds. That cave is spooky! Do you ever hunt for bottles in the dumps behind old homesteads? There would be metal too, but some of the old bottles are quite beautiful and a very few are valuable. Just another way to find out about the history of a place. We’re snowed in here in Nashville!🐝🤗❤️
@@haroldwilkes6608 Yes, I follow several channels that do that. Sometimes they find beautiful bottles. One mother daughter team use the broken pottery and china to make jewelry🤗🐝❤️
@@deborahdanhauer8525 As someone who almost dropped my car keys into a privy, I can guarantee you there are other goodies in there too. Drawers are dropped, things fall out. We found numerous coins along with bottles, cans, tools, even bones, etc. Sewage is like peat in a way, airless, it preserves what it hides. And I believe that our grandparents did much of their drinking in the privy too. Some old timers had personal garbage dumps too...on cold weather they didn't want to wander far so would toss slops jars and whatever near the house in one location. There was an excavated site where an old wagon stop/hotel/bar had been, they found three different dumps, each progressively further from the house, a gold mine of garbage. And I envy the guys who found an underground storage room for a trading post of sorts, all the goods that would have been sold were still there. Enjoy.
Them old heating oil tanks make some real good homemade propane grills. For young dressed hogs & cattle quarters & such. Slow cook them make some great eating for a huge group of people. I got a old Hammer just like that Donnie with same fiberglass handle.
I have watched this video twice. It is so interesting. I’m not a cave kind of gal, but I loved the idea of putting the camera down in and looking around. When we moved to Happy Top, Tennessee, in 1961, it was very much like this! We did have electricity, a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling. And at my in-laws house there was a washer! And a kitchen sink with a faucet. Also a propane stove & heater. It was a steep narrow dirt track down to the house. There were 2 creeks to cross first had a Wood bridge, second one you had to ford. There was an old coal mine up the Mt. in back of the house. If we got too far up that ridge, we'd see a couple of men standing up there with rifles! Didn't want anybody getting to close to their still!! It was like camping out all the time!! Good ol' days in early 60s!! It was 7 miles of dirt road, then 7 more of paved to get to a small town! In late 61 we rented a house down the Mt. for $5 a month! The inside boards were also the outside boards, chemny was torn out & only old wallpaper covered some cracks there! We had a pot bellied stove of thin metal & burned wood or coal. Upstairs was unusable with a 3 by 4 hole in the roof! We had a pitcher pump in back that needed to be primed often. Hubby put an outside faucet through the kitchen wall with a small metal pan on a shelf under it. I had a propane stove for cooking. No refrigerator or icebox. The outhouse was a two-holer. I had 4 boys, Ages newborn, 1, 2 & 3 in diapers. If I forgot to empty their potty chair; it would freeze solid beside their bed! Summers were better.

Yes sir it is!!!!! Full of history and exciting things. All I’ve found so far are old bottles , an old mole trap and an axe head, but I love to explore also.
Noticed the trap you discovered. My grand father, dad and brothers trapped. Went to Montezuma NY to cash in the furs. No matter what the weather the traps had to be checked every day to remain humane. The storm that gave you a snow day has dumped about 2 feet off Lake Erie on the city of Buffalo NY, my neighboring city. So enjoyed the cave info!
I have a small piece of land in southwest Virginia. It’s been pasture land for well over a 100 yrs. A few years ago I went camping out there for a week to look over the property real good. Could not wait to get out my detector and explore. Right by my camp was a good size walnut tree. I kept getting hits on walnuts about 6 inches deep. Just wondering what your ideas on that might be?
Ground balance your machine or your sensitivity down. If you can check you owners manual for adjustment settings for a start my friend. I am not expert for sure. I am still learning this Equinox 600. Maybe check out some videos on people setting up your brand of machine. That's what I did to start out. Hope this helped. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Absolutely love the Bullet Ridge and the finds also, love the caves knowing Indian's were there at some point. Our Cherokee Ancestors. Thank you for this video.
Really enjoyed your video and story! Absolutely beautiful there in Tennessee! Been to Nashville in June 1986 and that's the only time I've been to Tennessee. My oldest brother brought me to Tennessee to go to Fan Fair and I had to pay my Daddy back the money.
@@donnielaws7020 I have no way because, I'm handicap. We had a dairy and I had ordered tickets and was cleaning the house while my Daddy and Mom was milking the cows in hopes they'd let me take a bus to Nashville. They wasn't going to let me their handicap daughter go so, my brother Bobby told them if they'd give him the money he'd take me. My dream came true of meeting Barbara Mandrell and Louise Mandrell but, didn't get to meet Irlene. You're welcome!
This is great . Thanks for putting together a excellent 'snow day' metal detecting video. My brothers would go spelunking in caves around Sullivan County but I didn't go because they, occasionally, find rattlesnakes in those old caves.
Donnie… buddy they have those climbers now that you climb with your feet … it hooks up and it’s just like your walking up the rope… I don’t think they are real expensive…. You slide one with your hand and push up with your legs… it’s pretty easy… I wish you could get in it some how…. No telling what you might find…. That would be exciting to check out for sure… thanks for your videos buddy…
That was such an interesting video Donnie. I could listen to you tell stories all day long. The cave marked with the Indian tree was really weird. Gave me goosebumps looking at those faces. Truely a mystery! Thanks again for sharing with us. Be careful out there. Stay warm...and God bless!
I've looked around this beautiful country of West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia and East Tennessee in my lifetime and I often wonder, just what it must have been like back when the first white man ever saw it. It must have been amazing to see and to explore. Thank you sir for your amazing videos, I really enjoy it.
Had some good times & had some bad times. My family was 1st settlers in my area of VA later was WV from close to 1770s. I still live on some of the land. I guess old timers talk more about the old virgin timber & the huge trees we harvest to survive on stories that there grandpa's told them about. I am in my 60's now.
Hello Donnie! I've watched a dozen or so videos and find the area real interesting. I know you use a metal detector... but have you ever tried planning for folks in some of those creeks? That would be interesting to hear about. Joel.
Hey Donnie. Are you familiar with the bluegrass tune-"Ginseng Sullivan"- a line says-"can't dig no roots in the mountainside when the ground gets hard as steel, ya gotta stay at the foot of the hill." LOL. I sell Christmas trees. A lot of them. Our best seller is the Fraser Fir. They all come from the Smokeys, but all our growers are on the NC side of the mountains. From what I can tell, it's only 100 or so miles from you. Does TN produce Christmas trees?
Great video. Have you considered metal detecting along the power line you ride on or would the induction from the power line interfere with you metal detector?
Now this is my kind of video Mr. Donnie! I thoroughly enjoyed all the footage of the woods, fields, mountains, caves and all of your findings. It’s easy to see why you live where you do in those mountains! I wish I lived in that area myself, and could tag along with you on your adventures through those woods & mountains. I think that’s just amazing seeing all those dates carved on those rocks in those caves and the fact that Davey Crockett lived so close to there and walked those same mountains, hollers and ridges is just Awesome!! I so enjoy listening to you tell all these stories! I’m a history nut, I love love history. So thanks again for sharing this adventure with us. GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND!!!! 😇🙏🏻👍🏻🙌🏻☀️☀️☀️☀️

It would be cool if you found a old civil war rifle in one of those old rock ledges it possible ❤😊
That's crazy the chair in the cave. Thanks for sharing 👍
I thought so. Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing my friend.
I appreciate you taking the time. Thanks so much!!
Fascinating stories of your findings and the history of our Appalachian Mountain Areas. Thanks Donnie, always look forward to your videos 🙂.
Glad you enjoyed it. Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing my friend.

Absolutely love the Bullet Ridge and the finds also, love the caves knowing Indian's were there at some point. Our Cherokee Ancestors. Thank you for this video.
Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Really enjoyed your video and story! Absolutely beautiful there in Tennessee! Been to Nashville in June 1986 and that's the only time I've been to Tennessee. My oldest brother brought me to Tennessee to go to Fan Fair and I had to pay my Daddy back the money.
Awesome. Please come back soon. Thank you. Thanks for sharing my friend.

@@donnielaws7020 you're welcome!
This is great . Thanks for putting together a excellent 'snow day' metal detecting video. My brothers would go spelunking in caves around Sullivan County but I didn't go because they, occasionally, find rattlesnakes in those old caves.
Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Thanks Tommy. My fellow digger friend are working on it.
@@donnielaws7020 awesome… I hope you find something good…
Donnie this was much more interesting than old shot gun shells
This is where I find them looking for the history my friend. Thanks for sharing.
Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing my friend.

Good morning Mr. Donnie! Have a blessed day!
Morning. You to my friend.
Hello Donnie! I've watched a dozen or so videos and find the area real interesting. I know you use a metal detector... but have you ever tried planning for folks in some of those creeks? That would be interesting to hear about. Joel.
No yet my friend. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Are there caves in the mountains
Loaded with them.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Is hunting season over up there? It goes thru the end of January for deer in Alabama, and thru March for turkey
Deer season closed here in Tennessee on 1st.
Did you ever write a book? I would love to read a book .
Not yet. Thanks for sharing that my friend.
Great video. Have you considered metal detecting along the power line you ride on or would the induction from the power line interfere with you metal detector?
Thank you. I have tried. but most of the time the 100,000+ volts puts out to much inductance it will cause my machine to go crazy.
😇🙏🏻👍🏻🙌🏻☀️☀️☀️☀️
awesome. Thanks for sharing my friend.
