This season looks incredible, so happy it's returning. Wow, can't believe it's been 2 years since this first aired.
We don't have Max here in the U.K so all I'll say is I really hope the BBC picks this show up after it's U.S run like they did with the 1st season because it was one of my favourites of the year, and Sato is back! I've got the book it's based on but I haven't read it yet as I want to watch the show first. Edit: I'm already hoping for a season three despite having seen none of season two yet (season three will hopefully be the best and most likely the final season. Season two is premiering on 14th of May 2024 on BBC 1)! also can't wait for The Penguin and The Sympathizer! 🔥🔥🔥 P.S I've finished season two and it's incredible. Overall Tokyo Vice is a 9/10 and is in my top five of all time, it was in my top ten after seeing the first season but WOW, season two is just next level brilliance: Top tier storytelling and overall an incredible series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This show is excellent. So glad that it got another season. Good on HBO for renewing it even thought it probably didn't get the best ratings.

@@arcticredpanda4598the lead actor is fantastic. Even though the English speaking cast are relatively new they make the characters believable. hBO hadn't done a great job with marketing.

Is it my imagination or was the last season greatly underrated? I know no one who has seen it and Have seen almost no one online talk about it, yet I absolutely loved it. Was it actually great or was it just me?
It was great. I've seen documentaries about the Yakuza but I've never seen a premium T.V series about it. We don't have Max here in the U.K so I'm so happy the BBC picked up the 1st season, I'm really hoping they do so again this time (it aired on the BBC after it's U.S run), otherwise I'll be disappointed. Also, I'm really hoping for an eventual DVD/Blu Ray release for season two; season one had a physical release just a few months ago in late 2023 despite the show airing in early 2022 in the U.S, but it'll be worth the wait as will season three (which will most likely be its last season if it does get green lit as even the best shows that get dragged out for too long can become tedious and boring I.E Game of Thrones). Give me a third and final season and I'll be so happy...Man, I love this show! Arigatou, HBO/Max! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh I loved it. The realist approach with characters based on real people, made even more likable through brilliant writing, gave it an off beat flavor. The tight screenplay and staunch editing kept me binge watching the whole series. And the eventual cliffhanger........truely chef's kiss😘. And yes, it is grossly underrated

Underrated because the star is a predator and the media is trying to make you forget.
I don’t defend predators of kids (I have kids). I do think he was 20, and all accusations were set in that year of his life. Still a threat to kids? Who knows? People get second chances.
@@meganbassett6021 He was 20 and knowingly reaching out to minors.. asking them not to tell their parents and if theyve been with “older” guys. That is someone who knows exactly what they were doing. There is an allegation of sexual assault too. Why blow that over because we like TV?

So happy it got a second season. Hopefully it will get the recognition it deserves this time around.

One of my ABSOLUTE favorite shows! If you want gritty, REAL Japanese drama, this is IT! It's so visceral and realistic, acting is phenomenal and MAN the set pieces are incredible. Really makes you feel like you're in Toyko. CAN"T WAIT! My only peeve.... Took a little long for Season 2. I mean come on.
writers strike did that sadly, makes you wish the people that wrote crap TV shows and crap Marvel movies never existed

@@armkidmustang Except it wasn't the strike. The filming for S2 finished before the strike even started. It's post-production that took a long time, not sure the reasons behind that. Probably because they're working with a Japanese production team as well.
yea oh soo realistic. The white hero reporter and white hostess taking on Japan's yakuza. Even the shows creators have said its basically a work of fiction and the book that the show is loosely based on is suspected of being mostly fiction as well. Would be far more interesting if they just had a full Japanese cast and focused on reality.

Truly one of the best shows of the last several years. Rarely does a show's A, B, and C-Stories all grip you so equally, so that you're never disappointed when the cut away from one storyline to the next. And the visuals are absolutely stunning -- 90's Tokyo aesthetics are out of this world.

Also even though he’s absolutely great and amazing in this role. I can’t be the only one that thinks of Ansel as Baby almost every time or a majority of the time you see him in something, right?
I can actually get past that and Ansel's other, previous roles, for one thing, because he LOOKS totally different in each of his Roles and Characterizations and also because he's just that good and believable of an ACTOR, as well!!
The pandemic likely had a bigger impact on this than the strikes

Bro.. when Tokyo Vice premiered back in 2022, it instantly became one of my favorites shows on TV. Honestly felt like season 2 was going to take FOREVER to drop, but now that it’s finally premiering on Thursday, I’m definitely going to be tuned in. So excited!!
The duo/chemistry between Ansel Elgort and Ken Watanabe is unbreakable. Rest of the cast members are stellar as well, but those two kinda make the show for me. Gonna be a great season!
I got sick with covid in 2022 & this gem really got me through it. I’m really loving how Season 2 is as riveting as the first from what I’ve seen thus far.
