I looked at a car with this exact color and setup today. Only problem is I've said forever that I want my next car to be red with a sunroof. . Sweet car man!
When I had my 14 v6 the only reason I switched from roush to borla s-types axle backs was the raspiness from 3-4K. I think I still preferred the roush axle backs though. Should have got roush on my current 14 gt/cs but I went with corsa extremes because they have no drone.
I got a '13 premium w/ 100k warranty and only 24k miles on it about six months ago for ~20k. Ordered both Roush CAI and A/B exhaust today. Also picked up some slotted rotors and ceramic pads, for fun. I'm pretty stoked.
If I keep my 2010 I'm going to put a dual exhaust on it, I am going to get the Pypes Mid muffler true dual exhaust. They sound amazing. I am trying to get the wife to let me get a newer one, 2013-14 or even a 2015+ Ecoboost. I am kind of torn on the Ecoboost though, I want more rumble than the I4 can produce.
Installed my roush exhaust tonight ! Love it so much even convinced my cousin who would give me shit for it being a v6 to love it. Installing my CAI next week if not sooner.
Nice review! I love my Roush AB. Is she running any other exhaust mods? Some Long tubes will really bring out that growl! :) I run Roush AB + BBK LTH + O/R midpipe and damn does it sound good under 2000. Removes most of the popping, and helps with that deep tone.
Thought you V6 owners might like this comparison between the Borla ATAK system on a V6 and...yes, wait for it...a vintage Ferrari! Ferrari Testarossa V12 exhaust note: th-cam.com/video/4xJ6cVO_g9E/w-d-xo.html Borla ATAK on V6 Mustang: th-cam.com/video/TyJCVQuyWVw/w-d-xo.html (jump to 5:30) It's pretty awesome and amazing at how similar the sounds are...and most car nuts agree that the Ferrari V12 is worth every penny for the exhaust note alone! Then you hear people dig on the V6 Mustang (usually "supposed muscle car" guys)...when in reality, they are almost the exact same sweet sound!
I'm highly tempted to buy roush. I have a 2011 3.7 with BBK short headers and Custom H-pipe. I started off with Corsa Sport AB, then switched to Borla after a bit. Corsa sounded good with X-pipe, not so much with H-pipe. Borlas sounds amazing with H-pipe, but never heard with X-pipe. I'm very curious to know how Roush would sound. I know it'd be loud as I did a resonator delete awhile ago because Corsa was kinda quiet. Anywho enough rambling from me, really wish I could learn how to do custom exhausts myself so I can switch them out myself instead of relying on mechanic lol....try out different things. Ehh well Ima save for roush now lol.
Which axleback is this? There are a few options on the American Muscle site. Both th I and the girls sound great but I'd like to save on money if these really are worth it with how aggressive the sound is. Thanks!
They are the Roush axle-backs for the 11-14 V6. As long as they are Roush the mufflers will be the same. Based on your rear diffuser, determine whether you need the dual chamber tips or not. Likely you won't because those tips are designed to fit the Roush rear diffuser.
I got the s type catback and I don't really like it...sounds like a Honda not gonna lie maybe once I get headers it will sound better but right now its the s type catback not axelback, frpp x pipe, and intake gonna stick with the s type till I get shorty headers if I still don't like the sound I will def be switching
Borla makes a very refined muffler with their mid-level being the S-Type. I had it on my previous V6 and loved it. It isn't cheap, unfortunately; but you pay for quality and tone. I'd argue that Roush makes the best sounding exhaust for the least money, but it is very loud.
I ordered a Flowmaster American Thunder for my V6. I listened to several and almost got the Borla S type and the Roush. Hopefully the Flomaster will be good.
would you be able to just list the visual mods? For my GT I already have some stuff in mind, most likely will be different then the V6 performance mods
I have two questions real quick. First can a body shop install the roush axlebacks for you cause I'm no mechanic myself, also did you notice any drone while driving with the roush axlebacks
They definitely can but it's a very easy install! Just watch a how to video and you'll realize how easy it really is! But yes, these definitely drone! If you are trying to avoid drone, don't go with these.
I have a 2010 V6 and was going to have a exhaust shop put dual exhaust on for me. Could I use these axle backs on my 2010 V6 if I converted to dual or would they not fit?
If you convert to dual you'll probably have to do some fabricating but most good shops can do that. It'll probably just cost you a little more. the 4.0L V6 does not sound like this does though, do be wary of that.
Myzo dude just trade it in for a new 2011-2014 v6 or v8 prices are low

That is a very nice sounding mustang what does it run in the quarter or have you done sometime testing in the quarter mile I have a buddy here in the south suburbs of Houston with a 2013 3.7 L with every bolt on you can put on it except for the turbo he's working on that now and that thing is stupid fast it actually does pretty good against my Mustang that you see pictured in my avatar and he at least can hang with me three car lengths back that's actually pretty good for him because I have quite a few bolt on is my next step is cams in the main intake manifold so that little 3.7L does really good
It's up there. It can be managed with foot manipulation, but at WOT it's pretty ridiculous. I run my Roush with long tubes and O/R X-pipe. I have woken neighbors up at my apartment. On cold startup it is LOUD haha. LTH and Xpipe really help with the tone as well, making it a good bit deeper while increasing the volume even more. Idle sounds amazing though for a V6. Under 2k, has a fantastic deep growl.
I think they both sound great. Borla is a bit quieter and deeper. As noted in the video more "Refined". But it also is twice the price of the Roush. Honestly if you can afford the Borla comfortably, It would probably suit you better if you don't want crazy loud. The borla with Long tubes would be sexy. But the Roush + LTH can be had for almost the price of Borla axle backs alone haha.
insanely loud is getting a offroad X pipe with a aftermarket muffler like rousch. you wont get complaints with just a roush axel back if you dont drive like a moron in your neighborhood if its early in the morning or late at night. with my 98 gt it was difficult to keep quiet i would have to cruise in 3rd.
I just put roush on my '17 v6 and it had lots of crackle n' pop without the sharp "snapping" sound I hear on a lot of roush videos. I don't know if it's because I have a cold air intake (the cold air added a little bit of crackle and a lot of bass to my car before adding the exhaust). But yeah mine crackles like crazy every time I let off the gas and lots of bass in the low rpm range. Definitely loud, and I find myself wishing I could make it a little quieter in 1st and 2nd gear when accelerating from a dead stop but there's no drone at cruising speed.
Oh yeah, for sure. It's not THAT bad. Honestly, it's really not terrible in my opinion but I wouldn't want to go on long drives on the highway with this exhaust. It gets old quick when cruising but is tons of fun when driving enthusiastically.
I love my Borlas for my day-to-day driving. It's definitely nice to enjoy these suckers when I drive Annika's car but personally I'm glad that I don't have them every single day. Haha

I'll accept it because it is what it is , times have changed dramatically.

Just ordered my exhaust today ! As well as my intake
After installing the exhaust my check engine light came on after a day is that normal ? It used to come on due to my gas cap.

I had a 2013 roush mustang and I have to say it sounds so much louder in person
You should hear it now...!
I got the MXP air raid intake and the roush exhaust! Oh my God here we come!!!!!

Stay off the gas and you'll be fine! It's really not a terribly loud exhaust from the outside when you're just cruising.
No mention of the Roush vs the borla attak?
If you’re buying for a V6 Mustang, the Roush Axle Backs sounds much more aggressive than the ATAKs.
