- Discover this authentic Mauritian dessert recipe, reimagined to be just as delicious and even more sustainable!
INGREDIENTS:
For the Biscuits:
500g Flour
30g Icing Sugar
300g Margarine
For the Icing:
500g Icing Sugar
85ml Water
Method:
1. Combine the margarine, sifted flour and icing sugar. Rub and mix together. Knead the dough with the palm of your hands until it becomes a soft dough.
2. Refrigerate the dough for at least half an hour.
3. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees celsius.
4. Take the dough from the refrigerator, knead it again with some flour and divide the dough in 2 parts.
5. Roll out the dough to around 2mm thick.
6. Use a round cutter to form your biscuits and set the pieces on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
7. Bake for around 20 minutes at 180 degree celsius until the biscuits are golden.
8. Place the biscuits on a rack to allow them to cool.
9. Once they’ve reached room temperature, add the jam on one side of the biscuit.
10. Place the 2nd biscuit on top
11. Add water to the icing sugar and mix
12. On your home made double boiler, melt the icing sugar mix until fluid consistency
13. Fill the piping bag with the icing sugar mixture, then drizzle it over the biscuits.
14. Let it set for around 15 minutes, then brush with gold powder(optional)
