agreed. ive been wishing for roblox to change its identity for the past 5+ years to appealling to older audiences. sadly, the front page is infested with brainrot that makes it seem like a simple kids platform
I think the reason why Roblox is practically invisible to the public eye is because it’s always shown as a game and not a platform like Steam. I always hear about Roblox but NEVER what’s on it. As a matter of fact, this is the ONLY channel I’ve seen that talks about the stuff on Roblox.
I agree the thing is its a platform with games in it there is not a main game but what i think they should do is make a main game for what is roblox in total
I couldn't have said it any better. People ALWAYS underestimate a Roblox, they think it's just a cash grab, that just shows they don't play Roblox yet they hate it
I mean its roblox's fault WHEN THE FIRST U SEE ON THE MAIN PAGE IS GRINDY SIMUMATORS roblox just wants the ez way for money KIDS ; this really hurts their older audience who knows what kind of game there exists and WE CANT FIND THOSE GOOD GAMES ; this also hurts content creators as they ALWAYS try to atract younger audiance and they try to squize as much content as they can (clickbaits)
Like one of my schoolmates 1 class higher than me says Fortnite is better all it is is shoot get skins go around map and win also just build random stuff
@@kaiotrem358 If we're talking about the front page then yes, most are cash grabs, but theres a ton of genuinely fun and passionate games out there, but sadly they dont get alot of recognition
It just like the ToiletTowerDefense where it just made to suck robux with low effort under the popularity of Skibidi toilet they all go dumping money into a gamble game where you can get the strongest tower if lucky in those lottery slot, but you’ll only get the same trash rarity tower over and over again. 500k players Well made, developed with heart to make it pop out from btd games, better model, better map, better gameplay mechanics, where only small fraction of gamble take place and they tried really hard to balance the game over time, if you get that skin, next time you’ll get other skin, the more hardwork the better tower and experience you get. 15k players
This is false. Roblox was the ones trying to age up the platform with a new logo, voice chat and even stuff like rthro to try get rid a cartoony artstyle for a more modern look. (I don't like rthro at all btw)
People (outside of roblox) think that way because when they first joined they found games that are absolutely eye scorchingly colourful. Yet if they just dug deeper.. they would find the actual platform
@chillfacenoob Meant in the sense that they put the cash grab, gambling children game in the front page instead of the actual good games. All for money, they literally glaze their worst games because of money.
Here's why I think this isolation is going on: 1. Most people are either never the target audience or never dig futher than the front page games 2. Most of the online attention was from either massive credit card spending scandals or users being pedos 3. The games that do infact get into the front page are nothing burger slops or straight p2w gambling simulators 4. Most good games are either on an unfinished state, abandoned by it's creators or are really short but meaningful games 5. In some cases, the good games are destroyed by their own communities or devs 6. Some people can't grasp the fact that even if a platform is inherently for children they can still make meaningful stories with way deeper meaning while still maintaining the charm it wants to be 7. Some people are just quick to judge in general
Your 6th point immediately made Undertale come to mind. I think it does a good job appealing to all (or most) ages. It's appropriate and fun enough for kids but it also has an emotional impact for those that are older. It has that replayability aspect in the different routes that you can take (pacifist, neutral, or genocide, etc) and the playtime can last quite a while if you're the type of person that likes to interact with all of the little details. I could go on, but my point is that I think if game devs shoot for that kind of balance in terms of all-age appeal it could have a higher chance of getting popular. Attention to detail and a fleshed out world/story could also immerse a player in the game which is something I think a lot of Roblox games are lacking.
This video has a very solid point, it really feels like people under estimate what this platform can truly achieve. I also hope to see it break from this isolation one day, and inspire more people to try and make the platform a better place for the rest of the gaming community
@@RavennaEnsignboi No, we might as well not because that will cause us very highly to crumble down Your reply is not at all related to the comment and I had to rewrite my reply to yours many times because I was tweaking out on how I could explain how your brain is on the negatives
@DJNeonistPurple No we should as well. Clearly roblox doesn't care about it's userbase, has a rock-bottom moderation, forceful additions or subtractions. The search function is non-existent, the catalog is as same as those ad bloatware on a sketchy browser, the devs who make the games aren't paid well, just a very incompetent billion dollar company. A company that cares will obviously reign.
roblox is simply, terrible. It does not support modding, multiple coding languages, shaders, offline play. You can launch minecraft with a lot of mods, offline, with shaders and that's all for free. Even the developers are paid only a 1/4 or even 1/10 of what it costs to buy, so there's no incentive for you to make anything for profit other than a cash grab.
I have a friend that HATES Roblox more than anything, but loves Fortnite, and when I asked him why he hates Roblox, he said the following words "there are more characters in Fortnite", I COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP, LIKE YOU CAN SEE THAT HE HAS NEVER PLAYED ROBLOX BEFORE
lol i know someone like that too, he plays with a PS so ion he can play roblox even if he wished to, but he hates roblox because "its too childish" and he plays brawl stars... idk how u do that but hate on roblox 😭😭😭 ig they just never took the time to search for a good game, which is fair, no one would've if it wasnt for boredom
a fellow 2009 here. Made IRL friends back in the day and online friends for life a few years ago on this game. I hope it goes into a bigger audience and heals itself because apart from game design absolutely peaking rn, the rest needs a lil fix :)
I've been playing Roblox for over 10 years (I'm 17) so pretty much most of my life and its crazy to see how much it has grown., I hope we will have it grow the way Minecraft and other games but.. Mainly I just hope we can get it to a point that people of any age can enjoy it the way I have and many others have over the years. Thank you for making this video I was never aware of how unnoticed it actually is to everyday people and just how weird the story of its growth over the years is. Anyways loved the video and sorry for the bad Grammer it isn't my strong suit obviously 😂😂
While I agree with the points made in the video, I think Roblox Corporation is a big part of the problem. Most people I’ve talked to about Roblox say things like, "It’s that platform with awful moderation where kids aren’t really protected." That reputation really hurts. A lot of people avoid anything Roblox related bc they don’t want to support a corporation that seems like it doesn’t care about user safety. And honestly, I don’t blame them. For a corporation making hundreds of millions a month, the fact that moderation is still this bad is kind of embarrassing. Maybe this is why Roblox feels so isolated, because so many people see it as just a platform full of weirdos, and its developers seem to do nothing to address serious problems. Stuff like what Ruben Sim has exposed makes it clear that Roblox has a long way to go in earning people’s trust again.
The underrated games you mentioned will stay underrated because they are just a 1-4 hour experience, Block Tales is still on Chapter 3, so you can't do much, Pressure is a really great experience but it is not something that you'll play over and over since it gets repetitive and bland, and well Phighting you can play all day, but it's not for new players, it is filled with experienced people. So you can imagine why people choose something with more quote-unquote content and replayability than a pleasant little time. And since those are the games that are more noticeable on the platform, the people outside the platform will assume that those are the main games of roblox. (I probably mentioned the obvious)
I swear to good, every single youtuber that talks about "underrated" games always puts pretty well known blocktales and some random games that you will only play for 10 - 60 mins and then quit
The way I explain roblox, "It's like tiktok, when you first make an account your main page is gonna be horrible, but the more you play the better your homepage is gonna be, and you'll find not garbage games."
@@iatianegs dude, youre exaggerating it of course unlike steam roblox doesnt have good appeals but if you put in some effort youll dig up pretty cool games heres a list: 1. hellmet: shouldercam tactical campaign-based/csgo like shooter game 2. decaying winter: wave based rng S.T.A.L.K.E.R like game (this description is doing it no good at all) 3. combat initiation: ultrakill inspired pve game 4. phantom forces: arcade shooter that markets itself as cod for some reason, theres cool movement tech thoe 5. cube combination: sandbox game that you fuse cubes in 6. item asylum: pvp meme-filled randomizer
As somebody who has been playing Roblox for going on a decade almost, the main appeal I got from it when I was younger was the fact that I could play so many games my favorite youtubers where playing - with my friends, for free! The best part about Roblox is that you can go and check out litteraly every genre of games possible there, the horror games have improved massively recently and production quality on so many games by small dev teams just fly under the radar. Its truly a shame that people put so much work into creating an amazing game on the Roblox game engine and others just disregard it and claim is now a "Childs game" Anyway thats my Roblox yap over if anybody sees this :)
To roblox's credit, they did at least acknowledge Deepwoken's mindblowing level of quality to the point where it's put on the front page despite being one of the farthest things from your average children's game. And also, nah. There was an extremely dedicated community for games like Rogue Lineage that lead into the release of Deepwoken. Those games that were hidden far, far away in the depths of the platform.
Me and my best friend both grew up playing both Roblox and Minecraft, but while my friend was obsessed with Minecraft, I was obsessed with Roblox. This has remained largely true up until this day. Both of these communities are about creative block games, and both are often shunned for their perceived "appeal" to kids, yet neither will work together. I think what hurts Roblox the most is what hurts Minecraft the most: *Intentional Separation from each other.*
@@АлексейСвиридов-у9о oof, maybe you need to check things that are under the surface of those cash grabs without making a immediate conclusion of them otherwise 0/10 ragebait maybe try harder next time
@@randomguy8976people who dont play roblox only know it from the surface, and its surface is brainrot, just look at the front page. Sadly the good games arent at the front page/popular so yeahh...
@@gneu1527 Roblox is literally a NFT game before NFT with all worst things NFT can offer like no nice things for free ever and on top of that Roblox devs get their cut from any money related transaction. So tell me how this can't be a total cashgrab.
my history with Roblox is. interesting. i only began playing in 2020 somewhere around November. my original account back in 2017 is now lost media. as the current one i own. was, ironically. an account from 2015 that a close friend of mine handed to me. when he "Quit" the platform that year in October.. He taught me the basics. and showed me some. more hidden games. that i simply wouldn't have found without his help. i am still glad i play the game now, since i have a larger scope of this game's history through him and i thank him for this. I went from laughing at "The kids game" to loving it as a platform with potential.
Whats the game at 1:40 and other times? it looks like natural disaster survival but "old." seems cool i wanna try it edit: its called "something evil will happen." thank you strangers on youtube!!
unrelated but it reminds me of "Survive The End of Roblox" or robloxia. you should play it because it's really fun, and if you want an easy playthrough, try and stay near the airport
I genuinely feel like Roblox is the best platform to make an anime adaptation game on. And also with the best multiplayer experience. And a unique style. You can release it on all devices across all platforms and can create vast worlds which can represent the anime. Like if the companies seriously wanted to make a good game instead of cash grabs it would actually go insane on roblox. Like imagine a solo leveling game. With hunters and dungeons. Like a hunter hunter game. It would go crazy fr.
I find it very funny and sad at the same time that many people in the comments are actually interested in the games in the video more than your speech 🗨, I personally think you have a good point btw.
people always talk about how old roblox is better, but roblox is literally entering it's new golden era, exploiters are at an all time low, a new genre of games is coming out (battlegrounds games) and truly good games are starting to show up on charts now.
i played back in 2015-2018 a lot because i was well, a child and pretty much made fun of the platform and brushed everything regarding it off since i never bothered to look past the front page around the time i quit coming back and playing things like block tales and phighting, is an insane experience, block tales in specific blew me away, sure its essentially just roblox paper mario, but a lot of the older roblox stuff, the references, the music, genuinely puts a ROBLOX GAME in my top games of the year alongside things like nine sols
Incredible video and I absolutely loved it. I have a very similar problem where absolutely EVERYONE in my class or pretty much school dislikes Roblox for no apparent reason, I ask them why and they say its ''cringe'', ''childish'', ''its all bad games'' you get it. Many people ignore or reject Roblox because they stick to a bad first impression or prejudices without EXPLORING or even TRYING THE GAME. I also completely agree with what you said, I can still understand my classmates as a low minority of them have tried Roblox, but every game they tried was your typical horrible game that shouldn't deserve its popularity, and well, it spread like wildfire that ''Roblox Sucked'', or ''Roblox is a horrible platform''. Some people are simply too quick to judge in general. This video perfectly explained its issues in less than 15 minutes and I couldn't have done it any better. I immediately sent this video to my class's group chat and I hope a positive impact appears from it. Thank you for this video Ghost that haunts my Bedsheets, you have a new subscriber.
For anyone wanting to try out roblox for the first time, I highly recommend checking out "better discovery", it's a roblox game containing a list of really good underrated games on roblox.
This interaction with a friend sums it up. After showing him a couple videos of cool games he was like “damn thats so sick, i kinda want to play it. But its still roblox.” People just have a fixed perception of roblox as a cheap brainrot kids game that only babies spend their time on.
a pattern I notice around people who don't play roblox is that they judge it off of a few games and few audiences they see on it despite it being a platform
I NOTICED THIS TOO. I didnt know exactly how to explain it in words but i noticed that Roblox people/content creators never really get to do things with people who dont play it because of it being perceived as a childish game. This really explains it, great video.
Amazing vid! I think the exact same thing, not just about Roblox, but gaming in general. If I want to find people to play video games with, I could grind Fortnite,COD,and FIFA and get loads of people to play with. But I dont, because I want people to recognise the actual good games out there (mainly indie, like hollow knight, rain world, balatro, undertale, dead cells,etc.). Also I think it would be cool if you made a video on piggy. I used to diss that game until chapter 7 and now I think its just amazing.
Since being a Roblox player since 2013, it kind of makes me a bit sad that the platform is scoffed at by the majority since 2016 but I can understand why they tend to do this. I know people like to say "Oh, you're just saying that because you were happy." when it comes to either 2006-09 or 2010-15 (AKA the niche eras of Roblox) but from my time on the platform from then to now, I can say that Roblox does maintain on platforming enjoyable games. Even if those eras are long gone and how much we'll miss them, there are developers (old and new) that'll create enjoyable games for anyone who may be interested and I can see that with games like Abyss World or Phighting. For example, you might play Catalog Heaven and likely to enjoy (or enjoy-and-hate) Item Asylum due to fighting each other with gears. Although, most of these creative games will likely be buried by games that offer maximum time and revenue towards the platform through the company's eyes + many offsite people will look at the majority that are often saturated and attention-grabbing along with brainrot videos from content farms and see it as nothing more than blocky cocomelon despite the good games that came before and after the 2016 boom + 2020 megaboom. On the other hand, I think the rise of nostalgia among players WILL likely occur for people who played Roblox during this time just like how nostalgia occurred towards people who played during the previous eras of Roblox.
As someone who has been playing roblox sense 2013 it was crazy to see the quality of games shoot up. like back when phantom forces first came out and other games simmilar, it made me think if this is how games are now I cant imagine what future games will be like. Then the pandemic hit and all I felt like was the games that where coming out where just copy and paste slapped together cash grabs with 0 creativity. And it actually kinda annoyed me because then everyone followed suit, now its just a mess of brainrot games. Thats why if I see a game where a dev is actually showing love to the game and their community I always try to support them, because they are just a dying breed of devs.
tldr: I like obscure roblox games, sad to see roblox isolated, friends never play roblox games I like, argument with friends abt pets go, friends defended pets go. I personally enjoy a lot of obscure roblox games, and it's sad to see so many cash grabs on the front page drawing attention away from the underrated games and roblox as a whole. I'm trying to get my friends to play the games I enjoy, but they almost never try them unless we're seeing each other in person and there's nothing else they can think of doing, and even then they usually don't enjoy it much (fair, but annoying). On the rare chance they actually do enjoy it (2 of my friends say they like phighting), they usually only end up playing the game together with me, and never by themself which I don't understand. Also recently I saw one of my friends in pets go, I posted an image of it to our group chat and from there 2 other friends started arguing with me abt the game and actually started defending it... They hit me with the "iTs NOt gAMbLinG" argument and still thought that after I explained how it basically is. They also thought it wouldn't give children gambling addictions because it's not using any actual currency, even though that's pretty much the only difference between pets go (and those types of games in general) and actual gambling. Anyway, it was sad for me to see them say pets go and other front page slop is ok to play and won't hurt anyone or anything, even though it clearly is, one of those being roblox as a whole.
Sometimes I am laughed at for playing it, people calling it a “kids game”. In reality, it isn’t just for kids. There are many content on there which is not for kids at all. Don’t underestimate it because the media just shows you that it’s for kids and trying to make you think it’s a kids game.
It's simple, because roblox is considered as a kids game to most people since popular roblox youtubers make contents targetting kid audiences, most games are just made for kids to spend their parents money, so people don't think it as seriously as other games and most "gamers" aren't kid
This really hits me. Ive been playing since i was a toddler, and ocourse the game is very kids friendly and all but it has genuinely good games and some games for older audience too. Trying to get my real life friends to play with me is a hussle, all of them assume roblox is boring kids game like those obby and escape games.
I don’t think people realize how much money a good game can make like war tycoon farming and friends and games that give you really good stuff for a good bit of robux
roblox got that record because of massive numbers from The Strongest Battlegrounds (1.4M on update) and Blox Fruits(Over 2M on update, 800K concurrent) And also other games like Jujustsu shenanigans, TDS, Bedwars, UTG, and so on. This also makes roblox very self centred on certain games.
I feel like this is the perfect way to describe the current state of Roblox, and it definitely doesn't help that it has such a bad public perception. This video was really well done, and I too hope that someday soon they can break out of their isolated state. Great work!
It can change, but it's not likely because there aren't really people who watch Roblox creators who don't play Roblox. If some popular creator who targets teens and young adults started making occasional videos on Roblox games they like, it might become less isolated. An example would be Bundun. His videos don't appeal to kids, because he swears, and he's probably aware of that. Im pretty sure the reason he plays Roblox occasionally on stream is because he wants people to recognise it.
Even if roblox hasn’t gained much view from outside, 40 million players playing simutaneously each day is one hell of an achievement, not even fortnite or helldivers achieved such a feat
I think everyone just wants for Roblox to break the ice and go mainstream so the games that are actually on Roblox get more attention, creating more demand and getting more creative minds to create even more games that people actually want in this dry era of Roblox. When people mention Roblox, they think of "Child gambling" and "Cringe kids game", but never actually see beyond the piles of trash cash grabs, and that kills it's chance to go mainstream since it only really goes mainstream when there's a big drama like Roblox making dumb decisions or the old preying on the young.
Dude, this is the truest thing ever. I found a game usually averaging 100 players, and it's the most enganging and funnest game I've ever played called Humankind 2. Theres also prior exctinction with only 2k players
Here's my opinion on "numbers..." People who compare numbers for what makes a game good obviously don't enjoy the game because if they truly did, they wouldn't care about the numbers, but the fun of the game. Hence why I love Roblox so much. I always have something to do on the game and something that I can spend endless hours on. I had someone try to say Roblox was a dead game since Fortnite had a peak of 14 million at some point. I looked him straight in the eye and said "I really don't care." I said this because of the mindset I have that no matter the player count of the game, if you enjoy it, keep playing it; have fun. Video games are suppose to bring entertainment to people. In the end numbers are numbers, so just have fun with whatever game it is. It could range from Adopt Me to Blox Fruits. It doesn't matter! Just have fun. Side Note - Sorry for my rant, I just wanted to express this opinion. TLDR - Don't worry about the number of players; just have fun
@@ThetrueIdiot6969 idk how to let you easy on this I was refering to how I have not played a game that made have THIS MUCH FUN SINCE 2018 / 2017 and they where NOT PHIGHTING they WHERE different games, it might be due to my dyslexia, but also come on man 😭
i've been on roblox since about 2012 and seeing it grow has been... interesting. seeing the engine improve has been wonderful to see, people pushing the limits of the engine to make their games is awesome and if my laptop could run these games i'd play them in a heartbeat. i've discovered so many cool games since 2020, some this year, but at the same time, it's now full of slop on the front page, gambling, child manipulation... i'm glad people are talking about roblox, i'm glad people are playing it, but i sometimes miss the old days.
One thing I noticed is that whenever a non-Roblox youtuber tries out the platform, they never really seem to be able to play or enjoy it properly because - guess what? - they only play the games that appear on the front page since they think the games on the front page are the good games. I can't even be mad at them for thinking that way tbh. Roblox's algorhythm really sucks.
Fav Roblox game? I'd say Undertale:Last Corridor. Even tho it has tons of bugs it still is the best undertale fangame i've seen (3v1 fighting where one player becomes the boss and 3 others have to defeat 'em)
@elplaceholder Brick bronze story,eh? Ye,heard fans were pretty dissapointed (LOOMIAN LEGACY IS ACTUALLY BETTER FIGHT M-) But nah our dear radioactive fox named Toby is muuuch better than some corporation name of which starts with N and ends with INTENDO
Ive been on roblox for 4 years, not a lot but enough for me to choose my personal fav games, heres a list -Guts and blackpowder -Blood and iron -Tower defense simulator -Saktk -Generic Roleplaying gamə -booga booga reborn -medieval rts -totsl roblox drama
@tuwrgames yeah, i try games, see if they're fun and then make that game one of my top 10 or 50 games, i play the top games but there are hundreds of underrated games on roblox, like guts and blackpowder, i found it threw the fan base that would comment on any video frol the 1800th, i looked up the game on yt, found the gameplay to be amusing and now i have a playtime of 300 hours
Play blox cards, it recently did a collab with pressure also. Be aware it is a semi decent skill floor and nigh infinite skill ceiling to really grasp the game. My best advice is to start with presets but try experimenting (experimenting is the true charm of the game imo) with different playstyles
I grew up meeting lots of online friends in games like the plaza, roblox high school etc but i can't imagine people being able to do that nowadays when every top chart game is a gambling simulator with nobody actually interacting.
i deadass cant find a way to convince my friend to even give roblox a chance he thinks because hes played it a lot years ago he doesnt like it, and he refuses to accept the fact that it couldve changed a lot, which it has
as someone who has played roblox since i was 9 (it was the first game i ever played besides a mini session of minecraft on my switch) I have noticed that in the past half decade, Roblox has separated itself from the mainstream, constantly pushing bad updates, and showing off gamble games. Roblox isn't the same anymore
I can see why you would want that, but I don't see why it has to be Roblox and not indies or even another experiences platform. I have seen many experiences that can be great but show off how wild game development and the games can be. The best way I can compare is like entering the outskirts of the Malarax (or at least one in Fools Gold Sands. I don't play DND to know if it's homebrew or from a book). Many of these games often lack of professionalism and respect between and within the creators and players despite being very capable and creative people. I feel that Roblox could have taught valuable lessons on team and relationship management that could have made their games 1000% better, but the platform fails to make that happen and leads to me witnessing what feels like endless conflict. As much as I like your dream, I find it hard to support you on this rather than the many great indie games and projects.
Pls pls pls talk about pilgrammed. It was (kinda) popular on release but fell off due to lack of content, but it has revived itself due to a new VERY cool update. It has brought so many players back (I’m talking like around 300-500 daily players pre update and around 10k past update) altough it’s alive again I think it needs more attention. It’s a very fun open world rpg, so please try it :]
the game unfortunately doesn't have variety with builds,, almost every build is for dodging, and if you just really don't like dodging or parrying,, sorry, no build for you. I was able to beat most bosses because, for example, granny, you can just get into the blind spot and kill the boss that way and take absolutely no damage. However all endgame bosses you have to memorize attack patterns and dodge and stuff. I don't like dodging or parrying much because I simply don't want fights to take very long, it has to at least be 2 minutes or less. I shouldn't have to extend that time by dodging, if I want to calculate things I can just do my math homework. However I do know that, since it's the endgame, all bosses there are obviously going to take much longer than 2 minutes. My point is I just really want more variety of builds, and maybe, just maybe, less emphasis on dodging and parrying. At least some..
During the pandemic late summer I started Piggy on Roblox. I was and still am a Minecraft person but now have a lot of interests in Roblox games like Adopt me, Dandy's world, Bloxburg, and 4 to 5 other games. One being Pressure because of my fascination with animals and horror. I found Sebastian as a comfort character along side Archie from Piggy book 2 and Shelly from dandy's world when I started to love the game. But until I get board of Roblox I will still support the game.
The underestimation and general view on roblox is so far from reality than anytime anyone plays a roblox game they almost always have a perceived view of it's "made for children" thing even though there are games that go beyond that
@ Ehhh it's a somewhat bad example considering it's heavily monetised and aimed towards kids. A better example would be like HELLMET, Dummies VS Noobs or Decaying Winter
Hey bedsheetghost, I’m trying to make a game like grace where you have to tasks and then get back to your bed. It would be randomly generated and once you completed all your tasks a “rush” like monster would try to kill you. As you progressed you would encounter more monsters that would slow you down more and more until you got caught by the rush. The main mechanic of this game would be mask shards that you would get when you “died” to a monster. If you got five shards the mask would be complete and you would truly die. Being sent back to the lobby. I really just want your opinion on this idea because to me you know a lot more about what makes a game good than I do. Thank you for reading. ❤
5:53 I'm not sure if BlockTales is considered underrated anymore. I've heard countless times saying it's underrated and I'm getting pretty annoyed with it all, yes the art style is great but I don't wanna hear it anymore.
it's probably because they're both block games, but yes they're different. Minecraft is more individual focused, roblox is more developer-created-world focused.
this video suffers from anecdotes, but i do not think it was audience alone that doomed roblox, because then stuff like minecraft wouldnt rise back (also the reason minecraft rised was not due to the tribute but rather stuff like pewdipie playing it, smp live, and opportunistic youtube creators who were present at the time of its awake, the reason roblox is isolated is because nobody really took the time to find good quality games and most people shyed away from ever searching as it just had the reputation of "rthro avatar.." or the gambling games like you said, and also the graphics, unlike a plaftform like steam, all games run under the same engine, and is usually limited to blocky avatars, people who do not fancy such graphics indubitably be more reluctant to play roblox, though as far as i remember there were instances of some roblox games breaking through the isolation and getting people to install roblox just to play an individual game, roblox being a plaftform would also explain why its isolated in the gaming section as well, games like minecraft do not change drastically even if you use mods, the core features still remain intact, meanwhile this doesnt apply to Roblox, due to not being able to generalize roblox as a game, youtube fails to present this game to its audience properly, and thus the audience of roblox just fullfils itself. And communities in Roblox don't form under the identity of being roblox players, but rather the specific genre or game they are playing. Basically, to sum it up, Roblox is isolated because its decentralized with games completely different compared to eachother.
It is definitely a better game than others I've seen. I definitely like that it gives you boosts to your character the further you progress and even have a different character class, which each of them having their own charm of sort. It definitely has potential.
I feel a major aspect as to why roblox doesn't have as many youtubers is simply because of its content cycle. Roblox has a ton of games, but they arent long lasting enough to make any sort of creative youtube series on; which are what brought about a lot of Minecraft's success. It seems like Roblox's issue is a surplus of diversity preventing concrete youtube audiences. The variation from game to game makes it hard to create a consistent audience without becoming repetitive. Minecraft on the other hand, has the ability to be played in various ways while keeping the same consistent environment, which allows a permanent audience to form. Much of the older audiences often prefer this consistency as it allows for more complex creations, such as lore, made by the user rather than a curated experience by a developer.
I will say that Loomian Legacy (Pokémon Brick Bronze's sequel game) which came out in 2019 was around during the pandemic and definitely *had* the potential to be one of those games you've listed Unfortunately it just never reached that point as I assume it was mostly a passion project, and said passion project only had one sole scripter (Tbradm) and still does to this day His paranoia about what happened with PBB (leaked assets and stuff which led to all the fake cashgrab reuploads nowadays) slowed the game's hype down drastically, causing it to nearly die out It's a very amazing game with so much love put into it and I hate to see it this way The Pokémon name is the main thing that made PBB so popular, and since it's gone, LL will never reach where it's predecessor did There's a bit of irony in this, but Loomian Legacy: Veils of *Shadow* (and all the CCGs that followed) will always be in Brick Bronze (and Project Pokémon)'s shadow(s) I hope you'll be able to talk some more about it maybe on a bigger scale than my comment
As a roblox player since 2018,ive been judged like i was some 8 year old. There was even a one time where our teacher made an announcement to the students that there were pedos gromming children on roblox and ive never had second embarrassment ever in my life.

Well made, developed with heart to make it pop out from btd games, better model, better map, better gameplay mechanics, where only small fraction of gamble take place and they tried really hard to balance the game over time, if you get that skin, next time you’ll get other skin, the more hardwork the better tower and experience you get.

@KyloBarley it was a joke, I understand that there is content on the platform 😭

It's sad that the reason Roblox is considered a cringe children's game is because of Roblox itself.
And youtubers that only show games that are cash grabs (laser....)
Roblox was done dirty to the point it's in the dumpster bro...
Here's why I think this isolation is going on:
1. Most people are either never the target audience or never dig futher than the front page games
2. Most of the online attention was from either massive credit card spending scandals or users being pedos
3. The games that do infact get into the front page are nothing burger slops or straight p2w gambling simulators
4. Most good games are either on an unfinished state, abandoned by it's creators or are really short but meaningful games
5. In some cases, the good games are destroyed by their own communities or devs
6. Some people can't grasp the fact that even if a platform is inherently for children they can still make meaningful stories with way deeper meaning while still maintaining the charm it wants to be
Attention to detail and a fleshed out world/story could also immerse a player in the game which is something I think a lot of Roblox games are lacking.
pretty much this video summed up with some extra great points made.

People just have a fixed perception of roblox as a cheap brainrot kids game that only babies spend their time on.
a pattern I notice around people who don't play roblox is that they judge it off of a few games and few audiences they see on it despite it being a platform

I need to “ Find Everything”
I do think your point is proven more by games now getting made in a similar style to old roblox games and getting decent playerbases

Not this man bout to singlehandedly carry roblox into a more mature audience
roblox got that record because of massive numbers from The Strongest Battlegrounds (1.4M on update) and Blox Fruits(Over 2M on update, 800K concurrent) And also other games like Jujustsu shenanigans, TDS, Bedwars, UTG, and so on. This also makes roblox very self centred on certain games.
I feel like this is the perfect way to describe the current state of Roblox, and it definitely doesn't help that it has such a bad public perception. This video was really well done, and I too hope that someday soon they can break out of their isolated state. Great work!
it would be great if roblox wasn't so isolated but nothing ever happens or will happen to change the situation
I got so confused when "Experiences" changed to "Charts" and I didn't know where the games were

TLDR - Don't worry about the number of players; just have fun

i've been on roblox since about 2012 and seeing it grow has been... interesting. seeing the engine improve has been wonderful to see, people pushing the limits of the engine to make their games is awesome and if my laptop could run these games i'd play them in a heartbeat. i've discovered so many cool games since 2020, some this year, but at the same time, it's now full of slop on the front page, gambling, child manipulation... i'm glad people are talking about roblox, i'm glad people are playing it, but i sometimes miss the old days.
«why dont people play lobotomy corporation? its so fun!»
its because they dont care
That game will sell your soul for a cracker
different case here,,, LobCorp is more of an acquired taste, so i reccomend that most people just watch a plot summary and skip straight to LoR
Goated game
Lets hope the undertale last corridor horde are not here.

Play blox cards, it recently did a collab with pressure also. Be aware it is a semi decent skill floor and nigh infinite skill ceiling to really grasp the game. My best advice is to start with presets but try experimenting (experimenting is the true charm of the game imo) with different playstyles
blox cards is like card game with everything on roblox
I grew up meeting lots of online friends in games like the plaza, roblox high school etc but i can't imagine people being able to do that nowadays when every top chart game is a gambling simulator with nobody actually interacting.
i deadass cant find a way to convince my friend to even give roblox a chance

Try showing him this video or Gameplays of the games mentioned in this video to him.
as someone who has played roblox since i was 9 (it was the first game i ever played besides a mini session of minecraft on my switch) I have noticed that in the past half decade, Roblox has separated itself from the mainstream, constantly pushing bad updates, and showing off gamble games.
Roblox is awesome if you find games not in the front page and find fun games that youtubers have played instead

If anything, seeing the absurd amount of slop at least gives me more motivation to open up studio and grind away.

we should all thank v1 for saying "the pandemic" for you
thank you v1
During the pandemic late summer I started Piggy on Roblox. I was and still am a Minecraft person but now have a lot of interests in Roblox games like Adopt me, Dandy's world, Bloxburg, and 4 to 5 other games. One being Pressure because of my fascination with animals and horror. I found Sebastian as a comfort character along side Archie from Piggy book 2 and Shelly from dandy's world when I started to love the game. But until I get board of Roblox I will still support the game.
The underestimation and general view on roblox is so far from reality than anytime anyone plays a roblox game they almost always have a perceived view of it's "made for children" thing even though there are games that go beyond that
Combat Warriors for example
@ Ehhh it's a somewhat bad example considering it's heavily monetised and aimed towards kids. A better example would be like HELLMET, Dummies VS Noobs or Decaying Winter
@NeroToast didn't knew a blood and gore fighting-based game was aimed towards children
@B_humanpersondudeguyJJ Yeah, they went that direction especially the ability update which got removed after a while of existing
@NeroToast God, I remember that OP shield ability in CW 😭

well it is good
its a gem but it really isn't that hidden
*why in the world minecraft and roblox are considered very similar to eachother despite using both a purely different concept and aesthetic?*
it's probably because they're both block games, but yes they're different.

Basically, to sum it up, Roblox is isolated because its decentralized with games completely different compared to eachother.
hours is a fire game. but i haven’t played it in like a year.
It is definitely a better game than others I've seen. I definitely like that it gives you boosts to your character the further you progress and even have a different character class, which each of them having their own charm of sort. It definitely has potential.
unfortunate that it is finished tho. the fangames are cool too and are a should try.

I will say that Loomian Legacy (Pokémon Brick Bronze's sequel game) which came out in 2019 was around during the pandemic and definitely *had* the potential to be one of those games you've listed
Unfortunately it just never reached that point as I assume it was mostly a passion project, and said passion project only had one sole scripter (Tbradm) and still does to this day
His paranoia about what happened with PBB (leaked assets and stuff which led to all the fake cashgrab reuploads nowadays) slowed the game's hype down drastically, causing it to nearly die out
It's a very amazing game with so much love put into it and I hate to see it this way
The Pokémon name is the main thing that made PBB so popular, and since it's gone, LL will never reach where it's predecessor did
There's a bit of irony in this, but Loomian Legacy: Veils of *Shadow* (and all the CCGs that followed) will always be in Brick Bronze (and Project Pokémon)'s shadow(s)
I hope you'll be able to talk some more about it maybe on a bigger scale than my comment
