I have actually seen this movie, the husband is the one who takes the letter without her knowing, so she never knew they were supposed to meet at the boat, until she sees him running towards the helicopter. The husband was fully aware of the affair.

I remember watching the original with Giancarlo Giannini. Absolutely beautiful. I tried, I really really tried to watch this. All i got out of the first 15 minutes of this version was wretching and 2nd hand embarrasment. Absolutely horrible.

Terrible ending, but in all honesty my gut told me something like that was going happen. Both times when a chance of rescue presented itself Amber didn't want them taken off the island because she knew what the end result would eventually be.

The star of this movie is the son of actor Giancarlo Giannini who starred in the original. I did not see the remake because of Madonna, but the original was both beautiful, and sad. Also prior to this remake, Quantum Leap had an episode entitled "Leaping of The Shrew" which was almost an exact copy of the original movie; Greek sailor and spoiled woman crash on a deserted island.
I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. Madonna was the one part of this film that had me wait until it was a rental... which was quite soon.

I have seen a similar Italian movie. The guy was a middle-aged one (serving in a hotel or something). The woman was quite elegant, married to an engineer. She was never rude to him. When they got stuck on an island together, he expressed his anger. It was more of a class struggle. He resented her as she represented the higher class that he had to serve. Then he believed in love. The movie ended when she and her husband flew away and he threw the money her husband had paid him in the runway. It was better made than this movie.
No no this is an almost exact remake but with really bad acting.
The original was made in 1974 I think and was in Italian. The name of the movie was very long and hard to remember so they gave it the English title Swept Away. It was a heartbreaking movie.
This is the first movie I ever watched that was not in English , and I enjoyed every minute of it..This is an old movie.
