Mgk is killin this genre change, I remember seeing in an interview where he talked about wanting to work on his vocals and start using real instruments to produce his sound. Awesome to see it working out well for him

@@Braidan1180 no way dude. I'm 42 and have been listening pop punk and blink-182 for over 2 decades and as much as I love them their music is kind of uninspired these days... but this new MGK is full of energy and he's doing it right with TB.
I love MGK's pop punk music but fuck no, Blink 182 new and old is amazing and kick ass.
All these rappers are just bringing back the 90's and early 00's music we grew up with. Pretty crazy.

I grew up in Idaho and when I moved to Washington and was close to Seattle and being able to see so much punk and rock shows changed everything about music for me, seeing arenas full of people who listened to the same stuff… Even now you can go see huge artists in tiny rooms in Seattle and it makes it so much better when every single person is obsessed and moved as you are with what your watching you feel so less alone

I don’t know if you knew this, but MGK is a massive Avenged Sevenfold fan. M Shadows and Syn Gates were on the opening track of his very first album, plus there are a few videos of him and his band dressing up as metalheads and playing unholy confessions covers way back when his first rap album came out.
I'm gonna be a sophomore in highschool and now i can so much relate to what yall were talking about with the memories and discovering music, just i was 7 years later lol. Picked the drums back up and so glad im so lucky that when i started playing, the genre that i newly just embraced and loved is starting to come back (at least a little bit).
Bro the amount of joy that pop punk brings to our generation is crazy lmao just instant memories

I was born in 1998, so I wasn’t a teen when all the 2000’s punk rock was thriving. But in my teens I listened to a lot of this genre (good charlote, blink 182, green day, etc, etc) , now that I’m 22 I feel nostalgic too

All Killer No Filler was the first record I ever purchased on my own. There was a record store at the top of my street where I grew up. And my mom would give me like $20 bucks on a Friday to stop and get a video game or a CD. And one day, I walked out with AKNF. And my life was never the same.

lol you literally described my music journey. Only difference is I was dabbling in some Avenged Sevenfold and Linkin Park before I really dove head first into music in general. Good Charlotte was my first album purchase too haha The young and the Hopeless. Seether came right after though lol Karma and Effect was my second album. I was kind of all over the place.
