A comprehensive local guide with a choice of layouts! What was unusual was the use of two merger arrows (from left and right), which they seem to use a lot. Most places are not like that, with one from one side or the other, into one with a straight arrow, or none at all. Evidently no roundabouts or bus only lanes (all day, or part time ones) there! Ways of judging how close one is to a stop line on approach and if it would be OK to stop when the signal changes or not could be worth mentioning. E.g. when “warning lines” are provided to mark zones like that, or local objects that can help and so on. The term “warning lines” is from the DfT Traffic Signs Manual chapter 5 which is available here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic-signs-manual
A thing which I have noticed novice drivers con fused by is a single set of traffic lights with four lights red, amber, green and filter box set out to the right which sometimes has an illuminated green right turn filter arrow. I have seen drivers stopped at the stop line despite a green light for all traffic and waiting for a green arrow. They do not seem to realise that you should turn right on the green traffic light but give way to oncoming traffic but when the green right filter arrow appears you have priority.
Really good video....this comment is for any lorry drivers that may be watching this (opinions are welcome)...i wish I watched this before a HGV test I failed on Friday. If you turn right after signal, theres no markings and the junction is very small to go offside to offside in a class 1 lorry is not going to happen without blocking anyone else opposite that wants to turn right (your left). Holding back for the next green light pretty much failed me my test. Best I can figure out now is you gotta go forward nearside to nearside once everything has cleared up .keep an eye on that left mirror for any last minute overtakes and make the turn remembering the lorry is 16.5 m. Because of the nearside/nearside maneuver remember to also check your right mirror; by now trailer wheels will be very very close to the curb behind you so when you finally make that right you actually need to turn the wheel a bit left as you go forward slightly to give you some space.....remember obstacles on your left side affected by the tail swing
Hi Howard. Love these ultimate videos. They are simple to understand, informative and they are relaxing to watch. As always you deliver them smoothly and they would be great homework for any driver looking to acquire or upgrade their license. 5*
I would like to thank you for this video really help me a lot with my Pdi part 3 test❤ such a great video. From my heart I really appreciate it ur support 🙏
Worth mentioning, that at 7.22 underneath the painted arrows you can see where the sensors have been placed (square tarmac overbanding) this is what activates the filter arrows. On many right turns I'm area if the 2nd car waiting does not stop on the sensor they are left stranded as the filter arrow dos'nt come on. Not a lot of info on that.
The road rules state you must indicate if turning. There is no qualifier such as "unless the lane is a dedicated turning lane". While it might seem redundant, it helps other road users know your intention and as @Graham says others do not necessarily know that you are in a dedicated turning lane anyway. The indicator is provided for others to know your intention.
This video has higher value, it clarify the stop line situation, many thanks to your help.
very useful and helpful. Good jobs~~~!!!
Glad it was helpful!

7:22 (The colon turns the time into an automatic link that takes people straight to the right place!)
Thank you so.much loved watching this video. Very well explained
Could you please show us the point of turn if there is no turning box and no filter arrow?

7:11 (The colon turns the time into an automatic link that takes people straight to the right place!)
Good job.
Can you give us an example of offside offside when turning right instead of nearside and turning right in part 3:02
fab video, thank you x
Hi. Can you clear something up for me? Do you need to signal if it's a dedicated lane for turning? Many thanks.
No need. Signal if it will benefit another road user so there may be occasions you would, ie to benefit a pedestrian looking to cross in the new road
Don't assume, because you know its a dedicated lane, that other road users on adjacent or opposite facing roads know that.

Love it. Best
Very interesting video thanks for sharing
All filmed in Norwich
The music is disturbing
The music is annoying. Spoils the video
Thanks for your feedback - maybe I'll remove soundtrack, I'll see if others find it annoying
😀
