Marc Carney in a recent book adresses the need to broaden the focus of economics. The distinction and the need to relate the notion of value ( narrow financial stuff) and values ( moral sentiments as in Adam Smith) gives a contemporary vocabulary to refocus the discussion. Very worthwhile. Also ,Gillian Tett uses an anthropological framework when treating economics and business issues. Very useful,l perhaps, in promoting thinking that may integrate rather than separate the segments of economic analysis described by Mr. Wolff.
Hey Mr. Anthony John DeMaria here UC Berkeley Political Economy phi beta kappa Class of '11. I am interested in which sectors digital expediency translates to productivity gains the most readily. How do we preserve wage structures. How does the black hole of oligarchy prevent environmental socialism from blooming. And how did Martin Wolf get that backdrop?! Thx
Thank you so much for uploading this video. It's always a pleasure to listen Mr. Acemoglu!
Excellent interview.
Really enjoyed this especially the closing advice about rigour, challenging conventional wisdom and approaching economics in a multi-disciplinary way.
I like how calm and prepared the host came across and how well he guided the discussion. Well done, I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode!
