I am sat at home in Switzerland looking out of the window at a scene which strikingly resembles this Hodler landscape, including the mountain peak in the distant background, framed my green forested hills and pastures in the mid ground. When faced with such awe inspiring natural beauty, I can understand why an artist would return to the subject throughout their career.
Master of mixing colors to make them all sing!
Lovely, beautiful colors!
What a stunning picture.
The close-ups were especially fascinating in how they revealed a looseness in execution that I had not expected from seeing the full painting from far.
The green/yellow is so bright it almost looks like a cartoon. Yet there is so much detail in the trees and the other mountains it feels so real. I can understand this would be eye-catching to see IRL.
I love learning about lesser known artists. Thanks for a great video.
Many artists I appreciate, but don't really like. This one - i could easily hang in my living room.
Its quite beautiful. I greatly appreciate his lovely work.

Wonderful voice, curating beautiful autumnal Swiss mountains...The Sunny/Yellow/Gold mountain meadows and pine treesss
Pure Toblerone. 😎🤓😎
Lovely presentation presenting this absolutely beautiful picture of the Alps in greens……so appreciated how You shared the room with two other beloved artists’ work in the room…….so educational for all ages which is my plug for more art in our children’s school……
Lovely!
20C modern with acid greens, but completely accessible to anyone. Thank you so very much for introducing us to a masterpiece which many of us have never seen before. Absolutely wonderful. ❤
So glad we could share it with you all! Thanks for watching
Thsnk tou!
Ah! Love this guy. He presents real well
Compelling and interesting composition. Very effective; beautiful.
I really appreciate you guys putting this on TH-cam.
Beautiful work. Really enjoyed hearing about it and this lesser known artist.
First time hearing of and seeing this artist's work. Can't wait to see more. I very much enjoyed learning about him.
Love Hodler...incredible take.
Thanks for this, is really interesting 😊
The picture epitomises why I return to the Alps at every opportunity.
I find it interesting to see the very different frames of the Hodler vs Cezaane picture. I love the simple lines of the Hodler framing. To me, it lets the picture be at thè center of attention ❤

Very interesting. Thanks a lot.
Lovely educational videos. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
So when are we going to have a show of Swiss 19th century paintings? Hodler’s all very well, but many of his predecessors produced stunning work that, in some cases, leaves Hodler standing.
As striking as Hodler's painting is, my eye was continually being drawn to the painting to the right of Hodler's. It's stunning! Can you tell me who the artist is/was?
That is 'Lake Keitele' by Akseli Gallen-Kallela: www.nationalgallery.org.uk/paintings/akseli-gallen-kallela-lake-keitele
Which painting? Because I've never seen or heard of this painting before 😅
Genuine, pure kitsch. Send it to Buckingham Palace.
I see a little smiley face in the bottom left, which you will now never un-see... sorry
I'm not sure - reminds me of a tourist poster from the 1930's. Maybe it will 'grow' on me
57 seconds in and I'm already disagreeing. It is the subject that draws the crowd. We like paintings of mountains. Normal people judge art by subject, not subtilties in technique. Now back to the flic.
I love the melody of greens. Did I miss the medium? Oil on canvas, the fine lines had me wondering. The vertical reminds me of oriental art. I have always enjoyed the compression, it tells a much larger story. I wish I lived near real art museums.
