    Brilliant explanation of how the Suprima boiler works. Even if your not a DIY guy at least you know what the heating engineer charging you for. It's best to have an understanding of your system when making decisions that will cost you money. Well done and thanks for the video.

    Have my Suprima 50 now for 20 years, in that time ive replaced the PCB 7 years ago and the cast iron heat exhanger that rusted from the inside out about 4 years ago from not cleaning the system. I drain the system now every year or two pre-season and add new inhibitor. I expect another 10 years plus out of the old girl yet, great boiler!

    Good fix at a good price. I have a suprima 70 that failed. I re soldered all joints on the circuit board which cured my fault. I read that they reduced lead content in their solder
    which caused dry joints.

    I have this exact boiler.
    Can anyone tell me how the cover should be opened (where the fan is located). The boiler I have here seems to have a cover thats been wielded on by the last guy ;)
    I just wanted to check the 'correct' way to remove (there are no screws showing on the cover)
    Thanks

    • @Moodymongul
      @Moodymongul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      np. figured it out.
      You have to remove the outer casing, surrounding the pcb assembly, first.
      Doing that, gives you access to the two screws that hold the main cover in place (the cover that hides the fan etc)

    • @Михаиллеви
      @Михаиллеви 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be the pump. My pump went. They have a shelf life. The boiler fires only for about a minute and the heat just reached the pump but as it was not being pumped and circulated the overheat thermostat on the boiler operates and stops the boiler from boiling as the heat is not going anywhere where it should and the boiler senses this and will overheat hence the name of the safety device. Overheat thermostat.

    Very logical...BUT...you should be gas safe registered to work on systems like this...looks like you got away with it this time....but other people watching this video who get ideas may not be well educated...and may do dangerous work.

  • @hoppy1970
    @hoppy1970 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Unless you are gas safe registered, it is illegal to "disturb a module that controls the combustion process". I believe it's a maximum of £15000 and two years in the pokey. I suggest you delete this video.

      @@julianjones7914 Again you are correct. If the work required only involves the replacement of a non-gas component such as a water circulating pump
      or central heating control valve, housed within the boiler’s decorative casing, the work could be undertaken by another competent tradesperson e.g. plumber/electrician. Providing the work could be undertaken without
      having to break a combustion chamber seal!

      My understanding from 2019 regulations is that you can carry out work on your own boiler providing you do not interfere with the gas carrying components! Furthermore, the last gas safe operative that did work on my gas boiler left it in a very dangerous state- so beware who you employ even if they seem to be qualified!

    Shouldn’t be taking the cover off the boiler you have to be gas safe registered, read the regs, if the cover is not correctly fitted back on it will be in safe, another thing is you can’t test a pump by putting mains to it, how can you tell if the propeller is working? Is is why we spend thousands of pounds of course to be qualified! Leave to the experts and come of giving people advice, you will cause a major problem

    • @Михаиллеви
      @Михаиллеви 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      TBF he did not touch the combustion chamber. Wiring in mains to the pump was a temporary test to see if it worked. It was obvious it worked as hiw would the system have stayed on at all if it didn't as the overheat thermostat would have stopped the boiler working fairly promptly if it didn't. You have to wonder what advice the well qualified boiler servicer gave though !
