Storm warning But there's no fear Lies forming The sacrament lays bare The sinner Will testify They'll suffer When sacrificed on high The burning sermons purge their evil words Between the Hammer and the Anvil Force rises
Our union Their fall from grace Confession (confess your sins) Will seal them to their fate The burning sermons will survive their curse Between the Hammer and the Anvil Transgression They prey on grief Our mission To purify belief This altar Gives power and light They'll falter While we are shining bright The burning sermons consecrate their sin Between the Hammer and the Anvil
actually this album got album of the year 👍 when it was released in 1990, and it deserves to be!!! this is one of the best metal albums of its time 🤘and the guitar work is incredible!!!! I've been playing metal on guitar for 33 years, and this album's guitar work is awesome 🤘it shows how amazing and talented Judas priest are!!! 🤘 METAL FOR LIFE 🤘
There's not really a bad song on this album at all. It's gotta be their most consistent album. It's also their heaviest. It's not my favourite Priest album but it's pretty awesome nonetheless.
The magic of Painkiller album lies on the fact that it's songs doesn't sound like any other songs. Back then it felt like a true Metal Revolution. And that's why it is still being loved so much from the fans.
Huh? For a 1990 release, I'd say they sound more like they were catching up with the rest of the metal world. Mind you, it's still a Priest record, so no complaints here
@@aleflippy1997 Sure; by 1990, Judas Priest was experimenting with a new extremity - or rather, new for them, as even Power Metal had developed something about as raw five years prior (Helloween - Walls of Jericho). Overall I think Stained Class is my favorite Judas Priest album, nobody has _anything_ on Beyond The Realms Of Death
@@izd4 eh... I wouldn't call Painkiller "power metal" at all. It's common for Heavy to delve into classical music to produce complex bridges. It's not merely a Power Metal thing, if anything, they took from it. Rob's vocals have also been high-pitched since the beginning, only softening up in recent years due to how physical it is. Sure, you might say that they rode that speed metal wave. But not only was it still early into the genre's lifespan back in 1990, but one could say that Judas actually invented it. You mentioned Stained Class... That's funny because Exciter is often cited as the first proto-speed metal song. So honestly, I don't really feel like Judas was copying anyone or merely following the trends. They've stuck to their guns, and always did at least until the Nostradamus fiasco... Then they went back to a more tried-and-true heavy formula.
I do not understand why people say that it is an underrated song. It is one of the best riffs ever written and one of the most famous songs in metal music
Top quality, Priest at their best, really slamming production on this, unique smooth but heavy sound. Personally think this is one one their best & been a big fan since when Sad Wings was first released . Thank you.
That intro riff is so evocative. It makes me picture a hammer swinging like a pendulum, and then a second hammer behind it swinging in the opposite direction... and then rows of hammers behind each of them swinging in synchronicity.
One of the, if not the most underrated Judas Priest song. Love it.
but also one of my favorites
underrated according to whom?
anything on this album is not underrated
And for good reason too this is awesome incarnate
Oh no ... The BEST
Storm warning
But there's no fear
Lies forming
The sacrament lays bare
The sinner
Will testify
They'll suffer
When sacrificed on high
The burning sermons purge their evil words
Between the Hammer and the Anvil
Force rises
False ritual
Baptises
The body and the soul!
Our union
Their fall from grace
Confession (confess your sins)
Will seal them to their fate
The burning sermons will survive their curse
Between the Hammer and the Anvil
Transgression
They prey on grief
Our mission
To purify belief
This altar
Gives power and light
They'll falter
While we are shining bright
The burning sermons consecrate their sin
Between the Hammer and the Anvil
BETWEEN THE HAMMER AND THE ANVIL!!!!
Storms warning
But there's no fear
Lies forming
The sacrament lays bare
This album is underrated purely from the fact that it's impossible to rate this album high enough

@lveraxi your reasoning is accurate
Everything in this world is underrated and overrated, yeah!
There's not really a bad song on this album at all. It's gotta be their most consistent album. It's also their heaviest. It's not my favourite Priest album but it's pretty awesome nonetheless.
Now, this is Heavy Metal 🤘
It`s since over 40 Years Heavy!!
PURE Heavy Metal!
Now, this is real music. In addition to it, it _is_ heavy metal. But mostly, it is musical awesomeness.
Priest/Accept, heavy metal bible
Other songs of the painkiller are also Thrash!!

@@izd4 Don't just reproduce the magazines!!! I am talking about a "feeling" here! Painkiller first listening was an out of space experience in 1990.
@@izd4 Care to elaborate my friend? At worst, I'll have more great albums to listen to !

Play live' 90-'91 and 2008
They did in Portland, Me
I was lucky to see them in 2009 (I believe) at the pearl in the palms hotel in vegas. They played it and I could die happy from that moment on..lol
they play it 2019 with Tim Ripper
It was played live the first time they came to my hometown. Back when K.K. Downing was still in the band.
2:26 Ken Solo, awesome.

Monster track from powerful album. Long live the Priest!
One of my fav priest songs!!! It has that Saturday morning cartoon intro vibe to it.
Right. Or 90s video games.
Power Rangers theme rips this pretty heavily.
The entire album reminds me of the Saint Seya opening
This song is legendary
I do not understand why people say that it is an underrated song. It is one of the best riffs ever written and one of the most famous songs in metal music

ペインキラーALBUMの中で、本来のジューダスらしく、且つ一番良い曲です。
It's amazing how an album that is not commercially acceptable ends up being so successful and brought these guys back to the top.
To the top? They were never at the bottom
@@RiGrêmioNetoo I didn't mean they were at the bottom, it's just that the previous two album weren't as popular so this was a comeback.
Im so proud of my father for introducing me in this type of music, Im part of gen z and I literally LOVE and LIVE for Heavy Metal🤘🤘
Me too man, LIVE AND BREATH for HEAVY METAL
Your father is a good man. I lived these years and it was as incredible as you envision!
That intro riff is so evocative. It makes me picture a hammer swinging like a pendulum, and then a second hammer behind it swinging in the opposite direction... and then rows of hammers behind each of them swinging in synchronicity.
One of the best.
