I think I know one of the reasons why the deep-fried Oreos might have not tasted as good as you remember. It might be because when deep-fried Oreos are "professionally made", they are usually fried in some sort of batter. Like cake batter or pancake batter.
I agree! I make them at home whenever people come over and I've always dipped the Oreos in pancake batter and shallow fried them in hot vegetable oil on the stove. I do it at medium-ish heat and even with flipping halfway, they take less than a minute to cook and they're wonderfully gooey inside! Place on a paper towel to soak up extra oil and top with powdered sugar! Definitely not healthy but certainly much closer to what you would find at a faire!
