The people buying Pateks aren’t fazed by a mere $25k. No one is spending their last coin on a PP, and buying a Longines when you really want an elite Watch can bring you depression all the same.

Two years ago I purchased a Longines Master Collection Moonphase. For a start, I thought it was a good looking watch. The dial was very attractive, beautiful guilloche with Breguet numerals and blued hands. Sapphire open case back, alligator strap with a deployent buckle. It's a lot of watch for a very fair price, and I really like it. I get just as much pleasure from wearing it as the Rolex and Omega pieces in my collection.
Don't be so hard on the guy, these are the department store watches that 95% of watch buyers get. Most don't know any better. He found Arch, and the Pontiff will set him straight

I like Longines pieces. They have cooler designs than Rolex. Honestly only descent looking Rolex are the Explorer's and Submariner. Daytona looks okay but Speedmaster looks better.

It's true, most of these are pretty junky watches. Would have been much better off getting a Tudor, Grand Seiko Sport, or maybe even a JLC Polaris if you want to stay under US$8k.
Seamaster for the daily/grail, Longines for a dress watch and choose one of the TAGs as an activity/workout watch. Not an awful three watch collection that is propped up by the Omega.

The mid tier longines hydroconquests and spirits and Seiko spbs are fucking good starter watches the trick is to buy 1 or 2 of them. where you go wrong in the mid tier is buying 3,4,5 etc of them. At that point you have just burnt your money. But 1 or 2 are good beaters and everyday watches.
The Omega is a good watch but that model too is probably based on an ETA movement. The Longines is a good looking watch but is over priced for what you get. I have vintage Longines with in house movements better than today's mass produced ones.
I have to do the same. I have to downsize and consolidate into higher horology. It's an easy mistake as a newbie to collect everything.

Why would a guy bash Longines while wearing a Rolex? I have both and I actually prefer the Longines. My watchmaker is Swiss and he is the first one that ever said to me "Longines all the quality of Rolex at a quarter the price". I now agree with him 100%. Don't even let me get started on anyone disrespecting ETA I would much rather an ETA than 95% of all Swiss "inhouse". There are with few exceptions one being Patek who's movements are works of art.

Jajajaja what can i do? I own a Flagship and a Fiat (New Croma), the car has an original pretty italian design, reliable (355.000km actually) and very comfy. My heritage flagdhip has a classic design, reliable caliber, very accuracy (+4 s/d at every condition) and very comfy too. For the money both (Fiat and Longines) are very good deals.
And the 2895-2 is a very good caliber that you can find into the a lot times expensivest brands (Breitling, Omega, Zenith, Cartier ...)
