As a passionate fan of both pro-wrestling and talk radio, I have listened to a lot of opinions about Bubba Clem - on radio, in shoot interviews, on documentaries, etc... I was a casual fan and ordered some cd's from his website once. I probably spent about $30. In 2006, I got exactly 3 birthday cards - 1 from my parents, 1 from my grandparents, and 1 from 'The Bubba The Love Sponge Show' in Tampa. I knew it was just a recurring Outlook appointment and an intern and a stamp, but it was cool, so I sent him a thank you email. One of the show members replied with passes to a strip club New Years party in Tampa, with food and booze included. Every year for about a decade, Bubba continued to send me those cards at Christmas and on my birthday... For a ******' decade. That's a loyal guy, who appreciates everything he is given. He's not perfect, but Bubba is a loyal person and one of the last great radio entertainers. Hang in there, Bubba.

There's a big question that's been avoided through this whole ordeal: why keep the tape if you didn't have intentions of blackmail or eventually selling it outright for big bucks? If it was by chance the video happened from surveillance, then why keep it!? Just destroy it an BOOM! absolutely NONE of this happens, you keep your job, Hulk isn't ruined and life goes on!?

Exactly. Really no well intentioned rationale to have recorded it, outright said it could be blackmail on the recording itself, burn it to a DVD and keep it for years. It was likely an insurance policy that backfired when someone going for him ran across it.
It's simple he liked to watch. Nothing wrong with that. He got caught.

That's what I'm thinking too - he keeps repeating himself that no one believes him. I see him working and he's probably eating nicely still - but he made this choice to have a camera in his house where his good friend and his wife are having sex.
He's also a bit more reserved now but I remember when him and Hogan would get on the radio - they would rip each other to shreds, whether it was about Hogan's politics in wcw when he made a comment on Bret and about Awesome Kong beating up Bubba.

Just found this video never knew half the shit that went down. So the question never asked.... Bubba why did you feel it necessary to record the encounter? Time will heal all, but I gotta say thats a hard fall to take. Best of luck to you Bubba.
This was the question I had throughout this and I re-watched this twice to make sure I didn’t miss it being addressed. Other than at approx. 38:23 during a tv interview, it’s not addressed. The major questions are (a) why and (b) did you have permission of both parties to record. If this was done without HH’s permission and Bubba (according to HH) swore up and down he didn’t record him, he has every reason to be angry at Bubba. Had he not done that, none of this would have happened. Now if this was an act between consenting parties, that’s a totally different story and should be shared. But I suspect if this was the truth, the Gawker litigation likely would have come out differently. It’s just a mess that a stupid sex tape ended the last vestige of independent journalism
That’s the issue. He didn’t leak it and took a big hit from it being leaked but he chose to record it and further burned it to a DVD, labeled it Hogan and kept it in his desk. Kept the thing for years. It blew up on him when used in the radio war but hard to feel that was anything more than getting beat to the punch. The context shows he likely had been and was going to continue holding it as an insurance policy of sorts in case he ever needed to use it against Hogan. Probably wouldn’t get released versus being dangled as a threat if it was needed. Really not much of any well intentioned reason to have recorded and kept it Iike he had. And if you live like that you risk this shit.
Been listening since 1996 proud to say I won the Mustang in 2013 I believe. Blows my mind how bad Bubba Has fallen it breaks my heart! Honestly I listened to the show everyday for at least a decade straight back then. I think the Sirius years were the best. I honestly quit listening now i dont use twitch and primarily listen to Howard now...

Hogan should thank Bubba every single day because Hogan's financial situation was real shitty at best but because of the tape deal he was awarded millions of dollars and although he didn't get every penny because he broke them he still got 10's of millions in cash. So fuck Hogan.
