You’re always so transparent. That’s why I always come back even if the video isn’t relevant to me. People don’t set proper expectations for the viewers for the sake of views, you always let us know what to expect. Thank you for being so honest. 🙏🏾
I have a lot of videos go viral and I get some of the WORST comments on those videos... about me, about my body, about my perceived beliefs/values, and like... anything. They tear me apart. It used to impact me. I used to obsessively read all of those comments and respond to them for engagement... but eventually, it impacted my mental health so poorly that I couldn't anymore. So now, I just don't respond to anything but nice comments. It's hard, because you still see the cruel ones, but it helps some. Sending you an internet hug 🥺
Ohmygosh Millie talking about the burn out was so relatable. Last year I worked 6-10 hour days 6 days a week on my brand, business, content etc and the stress has really impacted me. And it was good stress! The work is fun and exciting but my body has had to tell me to slow down and work more sustainably
Great video! Officially starting my journey this weekend with planned batch session... if anything this makes me want to pursue full time even more; but don't tell my boss 🤫🤫
Thank you for this! I just started my journey and it’s clear that TH-cam content creation is a job itself but I’m excited about it. Looking forward to dropping content and building a community 💗
I love it! Thank you for sharing this and reminding everyone that content creators are just doing their job like everyone else in more "normal" jobs. I am happy you know your worth and do not pay attention to haters. The ones who see the value you bring will come back to learn from you and are appreciative - so thank you for all that I have learned from your work.
Thank you for saying the comments hurt…and you still keep going. So many are about detachment & not being bothered. Loved how you humanized it but still made it about not letting it stop you.
you're amazing! so inspiring to hear you share about this. you are helping so many people, why wouldn't you deserve all the love and value that you are getting.
Love this video!! I started my journey as CC 3 years ago as a Melbourne food blogger and was loving the community I built and the events and brands I got to work with. But recently I moved to India and know absolutely no one in my field, brands don’t know me and because I’m getting no work, I have really lost my passion and desire that I used to have for content creation. I’m hoping to move on from this plateau stage and start loving what I do!! Your videos remind me of why I started and how far I have come☺️🤫
This video sort of hit home. I worry that us small channels will be facing these once we up our game as well. I'm still convinced that I want to keep creating because I love making videos and content creation. Thank you, Millie! You're so transparent about these things and thanks for being human
These types of videos are so important. Most people don’t have a clue what they are getting into. One thing I was unprepared for was getting recognized in public. It happens often now and I have to be prepared for interactions with subs/followers while I’m out.
Thanks 👍 Millie for your honesty about the pitfalls of being a content creator. This video is what I needed to remind me that not everyone has the option to be a content creator. This video hasn't put me off content creation. Love 🥰 the video and love ❤ Millie.
🤫 Well said, I have almost given up my love several times but that Desire is a .... It has kept me going and even though my business just like my life has evolved it has never stopped. You just added another PUSH with your Desire comment to my push to keep going and I will get to my dream. Thank you.
I loved learning about the meaning behind desire - thank you for this video. It’s encouraging and I absolutely love when you said “these desires are given to you for a reason and if you can’t stop thinking about them, I believe they are meant to come true” 💗 love your work Millie, thank you for inspiring 🤫
I totally get #2. As much as I'd love a perfect content creation world where everyone loves my stuff, I had to be real and remind myself that you can't please everyone. What helped me avoid letting this affect me more than it should, was that no matter what, I am happy with my channel, I would want to keep being me, and I wouldn't want to keep altering and adjusting my style just to appear like everyone else. People know what they're getting when they watch my videos, and I shouldn't try to sound like or be like anyone other than ME! ❤
Hey Mille! I've been watching and taking in your content since around April, and I GENUINELY appreciate the transparency around Content Creation! I still am not blessed to be in a position to create Full Time, but I create in as many ( and healthily) hours a week as I possibly can. It's been about 3/4 months since I've really started hardening down on Content Creation, and I've hit SO many milestones just in those 3 months. I wake up every morning excited to exist, and I can't wait to be able to Create Full Time, even with the downsides that may come with it. 🤫
Well said! 🤫I once heard someone say, "Getting haters is the sign you're doing something right... you're connecting with people and getting reach." How funny that you can get someone who's NOT in your audience to waste time their commenting on you.
🤫 Thanks for sharing this. It’s not JUST stress. I think we have to understand that the stress hormone is preventing other systems from working. Its purpose is to put you into a flight or fight state. It prevents any regeneration processes. Eg one small one is you fingernails don’t grow, a bigger one it stops regenerating brain cells. I love what you said you have to be intentional with your break times and your mental health. Every six month you go to the dentist for a check up take your time to check your mental health.
I love this video. Keep producing your content. Ignore the haters. I've learned that people who have the time to make such comments, have no ambition, motivation, or courage to take the risk on themselves because they are afraid to fail, lack self confidence in their abilities, or they are living without purpose. I read a meme one day that said " People who are already beneath you, will always try to pull you down". Keep shining bright.
🤫 everything you say is so true. I’ve been on social media doing business with a company and I did burn out. I’ve been giving myself some time off and it was very much needed. But never stop is my goal. Thank you so much for being relatable. ❤
Hello Millie! Thank you for your videos!! I’ve learned so much from you, I appreciate you! I love that you say “follow your joy,” because that’s what I’m about-helping people find their joy thru sobriety! ❤ 🤫❤
I actually think the last one is the most important: only if you find true passion and fulfillment in something, you’ll be able to sustain it. And then it doesn’t matter if it gets hard sometimes because you know your path and purpose behind it. Just started this year in my TH-cam journey and it feels just so right!
LOVED this!! Thank you for admitting that the trolling gets to you sometimes. Due to the niche I'm in I suspect I get a higher % of trolling than most, and while I can let most of it easily roll off my back there are some comments that sting! I often hear "you can't let it get to you", but haven't heard a big creator admit is DOES get to them. Thanks for being human haha
I quit youtube twice because I didn't love what i was doing. My 3rd time around as a vlogger, I love it. And that's the reason I put up my camera even when I'm not in the mood.
🤫 I lovee your content Millieee.. theres not many people im subscribed to honestly. creators like you remind me that there will be people who like me for me. Thank you soo much for sharing yourself with us 💜💜💜💜
Thanks for the video, Millie! As new content creator I'm always curious to know about behind-the-scenes insights that more experienced creators have to share. 🤫
Thanks, Millie! As an aspiring full-time creator, I appreciate the honesty. I'd also love to see a video about all the things you love about being a full-time content creator, maybe some behind the scenes stuff too 😊 - Megan
Love this video. You were honest, peeled back the layers of what it's really like to be a full-time content creator. I really enjoy watching your content, it's very helpful and inspiring to me, someone who is aspiring to be a full-time content creator. Thanks for all of the research and work you put into each video.
🤫 Your videos help me so much! I'm really new to TH-cam and had absolutely no experience in creating content or editing, and I have learned so much from you! You always make me excited to keep going and not give up! Thank you!
Loved all the tips, and I can say yes it is real, burnout 🔥 sucksssss but the other side of it, when you know what caused it, is helpful, you grow! Hugs!🎉
Thank you so much - watched the entire video to the end. What’s your exact boundaries that you mention - at what time do you look at your phone and when do you stop in the afternoon?❤
I love your videos! The part about negative comments is so real. I am a much smaller, audience-wise so don't get many negative comments. But we the people THANK YOU. I have learned so much from you and appreciate you showing up despite the nonsense. (🤫)
🤫 Such a truthful video...I'm not even monetized, but feel the burnout creeping in as I juggle 10.000 other things besides TH-cam (single mama of 4). I haven't dealt with hate comments, and I hope to be able to handle them with a mindset of 'it says more about the person leaving the comment, rather than me'.
Your 2018 pixie hair cut is awesome 11:09 ! I am only focused on youtube. Recently monetized. I moved from the US to southern Brazil and thought it would be neat to document my journey. The work on the property is hard then add in the videoing, the editing and the posting and managing of comments. I feel at times to much but then a new project comes and I am like yeah lets video this. What you do is unimaginable from my point of view. But you have obviously set some boundaries. Issue 4 for me hit home. Thanks again. At least the feelings I have at times are similar and not unique.
Literally me right out of the gate lol. 🤫 Just wanted to say how much I adore you. You selected my channel (the one that got terminated) when creating your BSP course and gave me so much knowledge and I’m grateful for that and I always think about you when I want to quit. I’m trying to find a happy and healthy medium where I’m not burnt out. I love TH-cam and I’m ok with growing slow. I hate the hamster wheel and burnout of Instagram so it’s gotta go. And then I need to find a cadence for TH-cam that’s sustainable. Maybe I only upload 2x per month vs 4.
Wow! Thank you so much!! I hope your experience with BSP was amazing! 🧡 Feel free to send an email to me and my team if you have questions. I think finding a posting schedule that is feasible for your life is HUGE! It can become overwhelming if you’re doing too much, but finding what works for you is key!
🤫. I made it this far and as a creator who has been at this for almost 2 years consistent, I am frustrated by my lack of growth - not even able to monetize yet!! Did you do a video on how taking a break affected your accounts? Always curious what that would do to our accounts.
