    I think it is a good value for what it costs. It looks good, protects your truck and the equipment you put in it. From my experience, when I had a Ranger, it would also silence some squeaks and rattles.

    Love Line-X. Have had it done on every truck I've owned and never had a problem. Money well spent. Side note, you can get a damper for that tailgate so that it doesn't slam down when you open it. Think they're about $20 or so. After you hit your knee one time, it'll be worth it's weight in gold.

    I got Linex on my 2004 Ford Ranger -- It was tough as nails and lasted the life of the vehicle.. It faded a lot and cracked just a little bit in the end, but it worked like a charm - I threw everything including the kitchen sink at it. Nothing damaged it - except maybe the sun and 15 years out in the elements.

    LineX did a great job on my truck. Everything was taped off nice and left smooth lines. No clumps. Only thing I didn't like was that stupid yellow sticker they put on my window. That came off before I left the lot. I'm fine with the tag in the bed but don't put a bright sticker somewhere unless you ask me first.

    the problem with the spray-on bedliner is they get overspray all over the truck and on the glass, they can't help with the overspray cause the spray comes out at high pressure and high volume, the pressure is so high it will rip and tear the masking paper and tape off, then they try to wipe off the overspray with chemicals that dull the paint and take the clear coat off the paint of your truck, the ONLY way to spray a bed is to REMOVE the bed from the truck, it's not that hard to remove the bed

    I've had a Line-X bed liner in my truck for 17 years now, while I guess its held up okay over the years, its hard to clean, its faded to sort of a dark gray color and from day one it would peel when something was slid on the bed. Its been touched up a dozen times now. I since moved too far from the selling dealer and it needs fixing again. Its sort of like having a rubber coating all over the bed. It does almost nothing when it comes to dents, where as a drop in liner protects the bed from such wear.
    It did likely save my super duty bed from rusting like so many did, but not being able to slide things in and out of the bed is downright annoying and then having to still worry about denting the bed and wheel wells just doesn't make it match up to a good old drop in liner.
    When I bought this truck back then, it had already been done, and I sort of got a deal on it because a prior sale had fallen through. If I were to do it all over again, I'd have made them cover up the Line-X sprayed bed liner with a real bed liner as I plan to do soon.

    I like the spray in bedliner and still add a rubber bed mat. Im a firm believer in them. I had a 30 year old chevy that had only a bed mat since new and the bed still had all the paint on the floor. Nicest paint on the truck infact. The thing that blew me away was that there was no dents not even dings in what the bed mat covered. That chevy ad? Not with a bed mat.

    Rhino doesn't put in "pebbles" that are slick, they just use a different surface finish of the same material. They can mimic line-x exactly the same if you ask for it. It is just spraying the final coat at high pressure to leave a finer surfaces texture. Not all installers are the same, make certain you tell them to remove the bolts before spraying as most will spray over.

    Hey Had Line X sprayed in the bed of my 2006 Dodge. My thought was it was better material. The company who had told me my truck would be done first in the morning next day rushed the job after starting it at 4 pm that day. The bed liner chipped and peeled in different areas. I know it comes with a guarantee if it chips but that would probably never happen if it’s prepared/applied correctly by a competent professional.

    They did a good job on your truck, I had two pickups lined in the past at two different places and they both did a terrible job. The first one was Line X on my 2006 Tundra Double Cab, it was uneven and they sprayed over the bolts but did remove the grommets and reattached after spraying. Another place did my 2012 RAM 2500 and used the Rhino product, it was sprayed on evenly but they did the same thing... sprayed over the bolts and also the front grommets. Plus lots of over spray. My Titan XD had it from the factory.

    Kent, hopefully the Line-X installer replaced your bed bolts after removing them. For the aluminum trucks, Ford uses one time use stretch bolts. They will reinstall and seem fine, but after a few weeks your bed will start creaking something awful. We had this happen to both an aluminum F150 and Super Duty. Most installers simply don’t know this.

      @@MrTruckTV It is in the 2018 F-150 factory workshop manual under the "bed removal" section. It states "NOTE: The pickup bed bolts are one-time-use only. Install new bolts whenever the bolts are removed."
      Any Ford dealer can confirm this. I think a set of 6 new bolts for a short bed are around $50-60. Torque spec is 59lb-ft and you need a special socket which can be purchased online.

      That's not the case of a gas tank sliding around in the bed. It's you standing on the ground being a ground while you pour the gas in the 5 gallon tank. Many gas pumps around the country have warning stickers saying just that about taking the 5 gallon gas tank out of the truck and putting it on the ground before filling it. Has yes making the truck bed thinker with a sprayed in "bedliner" makes in stronger. Some sprayed in bedliners are the same thickness at the sheet metal the bed is made of.

    New sub here. But have been watching your vids for a while now.
    I love the videos!
    Ya know, I recently came from a 15 super duty, and now own a 19 super duty, and 2 old 2010 super duty's(for the employees) I have also been through each generation of super duty though 99, and regretfully had and sold a 96 ccsb f350 7.3... My brother has a 17 f150, which is also a nice rig. They're work trucks. And while we have sprayed in bedliners in all of them, the aluminum holds great, and we haven't punctured not a single one with a small steel tool box or whatever b.s. debunked commercial Chevy made. My 19 has a couple of small dings from operator error using the forks on our bobcat to load equipment one time. We load the truck regularly with a bobcat and forklifts. I have seen the aluminum flex slightly when it should have dented, or torn the bed off and totalled the truck according to some people out there. But it went right back to it's memory. The aluminum is just fine by me. The old 6.4 trucks I have which are also bedlined (aka too much money and time in these old trucks to sell now) have some pretty good sized dents in the bed. That steel isn't going to flex and go back to memory, it's going to flex to a collapse and that will be it's new memory. The newer super duty is so much lighter, which makes it more nimble and it drives like it is smaller than it actually is. Very enjoyable in my opinion. You can tell how heavy the older super duty is when driving it for sure! Braking and the slight roll in curves having more weight up top.. The extra weight is nice running across Kansas flats and their brutal side and head winds. It's minimal though. With the new SD being more balanced and being more stable/not top heavy at all, It's certainly a better driving experience on the long hauls. The reality is this.. More and more aluminum is being used in the automotive industry. And lighter weight steel. I imagine all will go to aluminum eventually. People have their opinions about the aluminum build. And I was the same way originally, so it took me watching other companies abuse their new superduty's a couple of years before I was convinced. This is my experience/opinion as a business owner who owns these trucks and as a company who uses the absolute hell out of our trucks. As one should.
    On a side note, I'm really looking forward to the 2020 super duty and seeing how it does with that new 10 speed trans, axle/final gear options, and the new fuel system and air/turbo updates. Not sure what else they've done on the 6.7 for 2020, but it should be a beast.
    Thanks for the content!
    Until the next Vid...Have a good one 👍

    You must live it the south or west. The worst thing about a drop in liner is RUST. All beds build up enough debris to plug the drains, then they take on water under the drop in. Missing paint and moisture is the recipe for rust. I have a 30 year old toyota with a drop in that's almost as old and there are thumb sized rust holes in the bed under that liner. Add to that my old Toyota has been parked nose up on a hill for 20 of its 30 years. I think if it was parked flat or nose down there probably wouldn't be anything left of the bed at all.

      Yes, I don't like drop in liners. Lots of truck dealers will put a drop in to cover the gooseneck holes so unsuspecting buyers won't know that it pulled gooseneck trailers

    A little off topic but our 2014 F-150 has an aluminum hood only and the rest of the body and bed is steel. It has the linex bed liner but I'm wondering if we should get an under coating done on it as well? Odd that this truck didn't have an undercoating from the factory if you ask me.

      You know I read articles about truck frames rusting. Maybe in some parts of the country, I've owned over 25 trucks, new and 30 years old and never had a problem with a rusty frame. And that's thousands of miles on gravel roads.

    Yeah but the little bit older Ford pickups they have all those braces running down the side of the bed rails and Line-X doesn't like taking off the plastic that the factory puts on that covers up the bed rails because when they do the Line-X looks shity and then the customer complains

      Yes, a slick plastic bed is hard to use. Like loading on a steel floor trailer in the snow

    I bought a Line-X liner in 2000 and when I sold it in 2013 it still looked good except it had faded a little. So I came to a conclusion that on my next truck I would not line it until It started looking scrathed-up that way it would look best when I sold it. And Ford with the all alum body no rust. On Mine they didn't take the bolts out and it didn't cause me any problems in 13 years. I think they had just started fanchises in 1999 (my guy had only been in business for less than a year) so there was a learning curve. Taking out the bolts is a good ideal but I thought they wore torque to stretch bolts so that would mean they are one time use. Are they and did you use new bolts?

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, my truck is 8 months old, so same bolts. I would think that bolts are a low stress kind of connection, not like a leaf spring bolt with the blue Loctite. I'll have to ask OEM's how they do it in the factory.

    CLICK BAIT!! was expecting an aluminum failure. Just a crappy line x commercial. Like everybody doesn’t know what a damn spray on bedliner is. Maybe go back 20 years and this would be interesting. Thumbs down. Also my 01 has had a plastic drop in liner since day one, and it’s not rusting through the bed from scraping the paint off even in Michigan salt. The body is another story. It will be in the junkyard before the bed floor rusts through

    pros/cons between factory vs aftermarket linex bediner?

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good idea. What I've seen the factory bedliners are thinner. I remember when Nissan Titan first came out in I think 2002, they were the first ones to offer a factory sprayed in bedliner. It was thinner than aftermarket.

      I know the guy isn't that bright, that's way more work than dropping the tank from the bottom. Done plenty of them myself and it doesn't take 2 guys to pull and install a bed on a truck either, I've got a video of just me putting the bed back on my F350, dual wheel covers and all.

    awesome 5 and half minute ad for line-x. How about dropping some stuff in it to show how it holds up. I personally will throw firewood into my Chevy 2500 from 20 feet away and not a mark on the bed with my Line-x. I should take a video and post it, because at least it will be more entertaining than this.

    If the military grade aluminum is as good as it sounds, good enough. Looks like Line X works well for rough hauling like wood, rock, sand, and gravel. Too rough for people hauling. Ow!

  • @sst6555

    a spray in liner will not make your pickup box stronger and tougher, due to adding thickness or any other junk he is saying. It is nice to have lining for other reasons, just don;t think it will make metal any stronger.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding a sprayed on bedliner does make the bed stiffer and the new surface is less slick and the surface is stronger. Do you have a sprayed in bedliner?

      I have been doing body work for over 30 years. The new F series are so much easier to work on but complete garbage as far as quality goes.
      Very poor craftsmanship on Ford engineers part. They don't care though. They just have to make the easiest truck to assemble and last the warranty. If this wasn't true, you would see more Ford's than any other truck that was more than 10 years old. But then again they are all junk compared to 10 years ago and getting worse.
      If you don't work on your own vehicles and you get rid of them before the warranty is up, buy whatever you want.
