In all the years I have lived in South East Asia, I never once saw Turkey meat for sale. Either as street food or in a restaurant. But there are loads of people who keep Turkeys in Thailand. Never added up to me.
Has anyone ever seen turkey meat for sale anywhere in SEA? If it isn't holiday season it's hard to find turkey even in North America. I have to say, Tony did a great job on building this farm. The buyer can always bring in chickens opposed to turkeys. Personally, I love turkey meat.
I recently travelled all around isan and definitely agree with you when you talk about isolation. Is not for everybody living there. Big up to all of you that manage to leave the dream there, me I prefer a way in the middle, southern Thailand is my favorite choice at the moment! 😅 Respect and love for you pioneers! 🔝👏😉🙏🦾
Good video but you should've given Tony his own mic cause i could barely hear him for most of the video. Interesting though! 👍 You also walked right past an old red UK telephone box with the Royal Crown on it at the very end of the video and didn't even mention it 😳🤣🤣
Interesting content, the farm setup is properly planned, nice and clean! One thing, maybe mic is due for an upgrade, at times it was difficult to hear conversation 🙂
Hi Ryan. Probably an unusual request but would it be possible to do a blog on the insects , spiders and snakes around your farm and elsewhere. If it’s too much trouble, don’t worry about it. Enjoying working my way through all of your blogs. Very well presented and entertaining.
I used to know an English guy who bred Turkeys in the late 90s in Phetchaburi province. Was quite famous and had an article written about him in the Bangkok Post.Lost everything when his Mrs kicked hin out!
my italian friend has shaky birds, they eat very little and they get a lot of eggs. and the egg is sold for 1 Thb. he makes barely 1000 kr a week. he invested 40,000 in the bird and every 4 months you have to make new birds
Very interesting. Tony, has a nice property/operation. I was wondering where you got your Turkeys. Smoked Turkey leg is one of my favorite foods. Thanks for sharing. We enjoyed the content. Crazy nice coffee shop. Agree we see very nice buildings / coffee shops in area you would never expect.
Thanks for the tour of the farm Ryan. I am very interested in this sort of video so I appreciate you making the trek out there and sharing the different business possibilities in rural Thailand.
I like the mixed bag of subjects covered. Not all to my taste but it means your channel doesn't become stale. Keep it going and take a rest when "black dog" visits you.
That's a great set up. I enquired about buying Turkeys before, i think it might have been Tony. We gave our Turkeys to my wife's sister at Christmas, cost a lot to feed with no return, we only had a dozen though.
great show buddy...enjoyed it, my wife cooks outside too, cooking inside with fish sauce....the smell is quite strong...also cook with very high heat - lots of smoke.
Yes, very much an interest in seeing land, property operations and how foreigners are holding efforts and investments with security. I also see where many questions over time can be addressed especially as so much is changing and would affect many interests as well.
The guys who moved to portugal are much smarter they make a ton of videos like this but they always mention price in title and/or thumb because they figured it gives a lot more views.
Really interesting video Ryan. Thanks for that. What a fantastic set up Tony has there. Thought he might be an ex miner. They're the ones with the money 😂
You don't see too many like Tony any more, this was an interesting video... aussie expat, rural business, remote Cafe so much different from the cookie cutter youtube vids we tend to see. I'd like to see more land for sale type videos closer to amenities and not completely out in the wilderness. Can't find that content out there.
Ryan, the bird is flying at your mirror/window, because he sees the reflection as a rival. In spring I have to soap my mirrored glass, to stop the poor buggers slamming into the glass.
Wow, that was different. The area looks purpose built just for doing business. Certainly doesn't seem to have the village look where people live a more self sufficient life. The petrol garage and whole area looks new. Looks exactly like a new industrial estate in Australia. I would think in 30 years or so, it will bounce back to feel more natural. Tony works that area by himself. Looking fantastic, but it must be busy when it comes time to sell his product.
Interesting vlog, but no rants added! 555 Think this was very worthy of your time and may help the guy get it sold, you never know. i like all your content, and always click the like button. Of course the main Life In Rural Thailand channel is a favorite for other reasons, like watching the children grow and play, as i can relate to that and makes me smile, Peace and Love, Y'all
Wow, you cannot get more Aussie bloke. Blue tank top, beer gut, shortened nickname, vastly understated success. 🦘 🙏 In Australia you can meet an unassuming guy like Tony at the end of a dusty old bar in the middle of nowhere town, only to find out he owns/runs a 40 million dollar station (ranch) with a fleet of vehicles, helicopters, trucks, etc. Don't be mistaken by the short interaction; these guys are smart
MORE>>>>>>DO MORE maybe once a month commercial/private for sale property...this one was awesome. very interesting...Thanks Tony for the share xo grammy...
Another example of an Australian ex builder/mine worker trying to make it big. Easy step, sell the turkeys to Manston foods/ Siambur/ or hotel chains in tourist areas, if the product is good, also get the product out to the expats/expats (facebook youtube etc) as that way no need to pay imported prices. It kinda of says, I want to sell up as failed in the business.
I think from my side I would say the most places I visited in the past became boring more and more over the years. As we said "the grass on the other side is allways greener". I moved from Germany to Switzerland to Thailand to Vietnam to the Philippines back to Thailand back to Germany 555. There are always ups and downs. But its okay as long as you have the chance to leave and go to another place. You can stay everywhere for a couple of years and change the location if you start feeling boring. Its not an kind of global rating in my eyes, someones paradise can become my hell in in few months and reverse.
Where ever you live their are pros and cons....but compare it in today's society.....its a no brainer.warm affordable climate will give you longevity and a gentle reminder of how we used to live before.
Here's one way to save costs, don't use the feather plucker because ..... "I'm not the pheasant plucker I'm the pheasant plucker's son, but I'll pluck the pheasants 'til the pheasant plucker comes" say that fast 3 times 😆🤣😆
I'm an American, and I doesn't even like to eat turkey. I can't imagine people in Thailand eat that birds. They're eat chickens. He's thinking farm something different will pay off but wrong, BIG mistake.
Impressive set up! I would be interested in video on land for sale in rural Thailand to get an idea of price and what is available. Also properties for sale. Enjoying the content as always
My thoughts about is the Real estate cannot be lost or stolen nor can it be carried away. Purchased with common sense, paid for in full, and managed with reasonable care, it is about the safest investment in the world. As some lessons take years to learn, with repeated exposure to the same path sometimes shadowed by the inner conscience of own souls. But eventually we learn, and our journey continues in another direction.
Great content and very interesting. Tony has done a great job with that property. A big investment for your ‘Average Joe’ but I’m thinking a corporate buyer in Thailand could seize the opportunity, increase production and grow the market.
I hope the mate is able to sell his land and farm for a good price and retire. I’m wondering if you can actually sell turkey in Thailand? I guess someone could convert it to chicken.
He should try to sell all his turkeys at the market, it'll take months to sell all of them. And then he can sell his property. Selling turkey is the least interest for the thai. I don't know any Thai people eat turkey. Good luck with his turkey farming.
great show, thanks, but next time can you ask the people to put on shirts and long pants, as it is a bit jarring to watch these type of folk, you are fine, but the guests should show more respect, cheers
Looks like a pretty well oiled machine,I was gona say, nah he's kiwi they are different to Aussies in some ways ,very practical, big Scottish influence in New Zealand I think ,lower wages and higher prices, that's why they go to Australia to make some cash
Up to 8 mins in, he's not ya best salesman eh! Bearing in mind he's obviously attempting to sell the business 😂😂😂. Who are the buyers of Turkey meat in Thailand, no wonder he's selling 😂.
There are too many scripted, slickly filmed & edited TH-cam channels, carrying pretty much the same content, trying to rope in the same targeted audiences to harvest views. But, those sorts of channels require a lot of work and are ultimately doomed, due to too much competition already & an ever lowering entry bar to even more competition, incl. AI vlog bots, which are coming soon, en masse. So, I think you are better off showing your ordinary everyday life stuff on one channel, which appeals both to those who are simply curious about rural Thailand and those who are considering relocating there. Your second channel - this one - should simply be content that you personally want to do, that does not fit in with your first channel. It can be, as it currently is, a mix of random topics and streams of concsiousness. But, make it your content, for your own satisfaction - don't listen too much to what we tell/ask you to do. Focus on the content, and not so much on the scripting, filming & editing. In the end, I believe it will be easier to keep the channels going over the long haul, if they feel less like work and more like a hobby. And, I think the personalization of the content of each channel, ie. content which is unique to you and your family, is what will allow the channels to survive & thrive, as other channels become generic and fail. Or, in other words, just keep on doing what you have been doing... lol. Just my opinion. :) Change of topic, with regards to your own spot of land, the one with the broken-down house, have you considred getting an 20' or 40' shipping container and converting it into a tiny home? I was doing some research on this topic recently, and it might appeal to you. Shipping containers are cheap as chips, inherently waterproof & weather-resistant, impervious to termites & rats, relatively easy to move, and last a long time. Since you have access to skilled steel workers, you should be able to make the modifications to the container, on site, to turn it into a livable space, at a low cost & in a short time. And, it will be easy to relocate elsewhere, should you decide later to build something more elaborate, from the ground up. If you are interested, just search TH-cam for "diy shipping container house". Cheers, mate!
Interesting but no thanks...LOL! Worth a watch but that is simply too much for a foreigner to take on. I wonder how long it's going to take to sell that large of a farm with huge sunk costs. What are the net revenues after all the costs? Seems like such a huge time waster for the average person.
I have the impression that because everything is relatively inexpensive in Thailand 🇹🇭, Westerners & others with plenty of money are building businesses & buying farms just as a means to occupy their time. For instance, why else would someone build such a huge & beautiful coffee shop in the middle of nowhere? That leads me to believe that the owner has cash to burn 🔥. Or, perhaps it's a means to funnel money 💰, & clean it up a bit, if you know what I mean? Also, turkeys 🦃 are known to be very intelligent birds. Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the National Bird of the USA 🇺🇸, but they chose the Bald Eagle 🦅 instead. Go Eagles 🦅!! Beat KC Chiefs !! #PHILLYPROUD
STOP SAYING THAT IT IS "HIS" FARM... FOREIGNERS CAN NOT OWN LAND IN THAILAND.. THAT "FARM" BELONGS TO HIS WIFE.. THAI LAW MAKES IT ILLEGAL FOR FOREIGNERS TO OWN PROPERTY LAND AND CERTAIN TYPE OF BUSINESSES..

There is so much “mystery meat” in Southeast Asia. The turkey is probably just hiding jn plain sight. 😂
Interesting, it's always available in western Europe.
Consume 1x per year that s it
Tony needs a miracle ❤❤
I recently travelled all around isan and definitely agree with you when you talk about isolation. Is not for everybody living there. Big up to all of you that manage to leave the dream there, me I prefer a way in the middle, southern Thailand is my favorite choice at the moment! 😅 Respect and love for you pioneers! 🔝👏😉🙏🦾
We live in the northeast near Sakon Nakhon and have never seen Turkey meat in the markets.
Good video but you should've given Tony his own mic cause i could barely hear him for most of the video. Interesting though! 👍

The mic is fine, it's the fact the guest keeps turning his head away from the mic when he talks.
Hi Ryan.
Probably an unusual request but would it be possible to do a blog on the insects , spiders and snakes around your farm and elsewhere.

Why do I hear this story over and over? 😂
From what I understand Tony has followed the rules and has it locked up
@thomasclementz8149 because there is a sucker landing at the suvarnabhumi airport every minute
@@thenakedguru has her locked up 😂
Yea that never happens!!
It's nice to see a variety of things on your channel the farm was good to see but so was the coffee shop at the service station 😁😎👍
Tony seems a top bloke. Possibly the most Australian Aussie in the world, very laid back and straight talking 👍😁😎
He's actually a Kiwi.
@brianwinner2249 same thing.
This guys awesome. He seems very laid back and built a cracking farm. Wish him all the best in whatever he goes on to do next. Thanks for the video!
Great video and what a top guy too 👍 I hope he gets a good sale and the best of luck to him & his wife for the future 💝
my italian friend has shaky birds, they eat very little and they get a lot of eggs. and the egg is sold for 1 Thb. he makes barely 1000 kr a week. he invested 40,000 in the bird and every 4 months you have to make new birds
You can see a lot of time and effort has gone into this place of the years
Very interesting.
Interesting that Thanksgiving would have an impact on the demand for turkeys in Thailand, it certainly wouldn't in Britain!
Nice vlog, i like these longer videos 👍👍
Ryan: I enjoyed seeing Tony's property, would like to see more of this
Tony has really gone all out for his property. A Very nice setup. I enjoyed the view.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the tour of the farm Ryan. I am very interested in this sort of video so I appreciate you making the trek out there and sharing the different business possibilities in rural Thailand.

I love my wife's village but thankfully it's only 1hr40mins to Bangkok....
So can do many long weekends and not feel so isolated
The bird is attacking his reflection thinks its another bird in his territory 😅
He got a good set up
That's a great set up. I enquired about buying Turkeys before, i think it might have been Tony. We gave our Turkeys to my wife's sister at Christmas, cost a lot to feed with no return, we only had a dozen though.
Such a shame! The thing I miss more than anything from the West is a good turkey sandwich / meal. I can't find it anywhere in Thailand. 😢
The bird can see its reflection and thinks he has a rival. I have seen a gold crest in the UK doing the same thing.
❤👍🏼You can see hes put alot of time & dedication into making it a good business. Seems very well built, clean & organised. Good Luck to him. 🍀🎋💞💞💞💞

Really interesting video Ryan. Thanks for that. What a fantastic set up Tony has there. Thought he might be an ex miner. They're the ones with the money 😂
also, outside kitchen is necessary for spicy cooking,. Some chili cooks literally add eye watering spice to the air (like garlic)
also when making fish sauce which they use in all their dishes. It stinks the house out when made inside.

Beautiful video God bless you all always stay safe 🙏 ❤️
Tough business, a lot of work - turkeys are expensive in Thailand, hard to find
Turkey breeding in Thailand is like ostrich breeding in America. 🤣
Wow, that was different. The area looks purpose built just for doing business. Certainly doesn't seem to have the village look where people live a more self sufficient life. Yes, very nice farm. I like the rural life.
I prefer the Amazon coffee shops at petrol stations when we out driving.
prefer over what ?
When Damol going to see it😂😂

I think I could think of better things to do in retirement
Also worse thing by hanging around Pattaya for example and getting rinsed by the HOs .
What a amazing place

But we all wanna know what he feeds his turkeys now 😅
If you come across a Sushi farm , let me know.
They're quieter. 🤣

I would keep the turkeys and let them be free and start an elephant sanctuary. To each his own...
Good show sir, thank you

I am thinking the turkey man will lose a ton of money......on sale, etc....
Which part of Thailand is this place at?
This was a very interesting vlog. Seeing how other westerners have strived, thrived or otherwise would be great for a time. That cafe? Laundering?
I hope the mate is able to sell his land and farm for a good price and retire. I’m wondering if you can actually sell turkey in Thailand? I guess someone could convert it to chicken.
Could the new taxes in Thailand have influenced his decision?
great vid .
Can you find some organic or permaculture farms?

Even with your help, this will be a hard sell.

Normal Thailand farms are much much worse than Tonys, the amount of free range space he has for the older birds is very rare
Good on him. I refuse to buy caged eggs, even though it cost me $10.20 AU, for a dozen, 800g free-range yesterday! Cruelty reduction costs.😊

Correct
I wonder how many Thais own businesses in America?
