Fish used to be a cop, it was confirmed, and eyes taught him to speak the language that they all speak, and robot actually doesn't mutate, it install software that simulate the mutation.
In update 94 if you kill Big Bandit as rebel she will say something it sounds like some kind of sigh but no other character does this only her all other characters just truck on after killing him.
Possibly, though it would imply the Throne itself has the power over the portals rather than the Palace or something else entirely, and I don't know if that's something anybody will commit to being true.

So in reality I think the developers just gave some of the IDPD the ability to roll because fish can.
There's more to Y.V.'s story actually. He lives on Venus in a Mansion that sits atop a hotel, which includes a jail, cellar, sewer, penthouse then the mansion. Im pretty sure Yung Cuz lives in the penthouse(or at least stays in it), while Y.V. lives in the Mansion. only building on Venus. He told his minions (or whatever they're called) to shoot him on sight to give himself a challenge. Also, Y.V. can die, as seen in Gun Godz.
My theory regarding lil hunter attacking you in the first place is that him finding you is a big enough deal to make the idpd show up which would be a way home for him.
Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it somewhere in the video, but it seems to me that Big Dog is less of a toy or carnival attraction and more of a piece of heavy construction equipment, which would fit better with the fact that it lives in a scrapyard.

Edit: It would also explain the mutant IDPD officers after Loop 3.
TBH the best part about this game is that the lore is kinda open ended, even with the stuff you want, so the fans can make headcanons all they want about how the stories go loop wise and how the dimensions work. For instance I myself like to think of it working more like a Homestuck style of storyline where one particular set of universes is the key universe where a different exact story happens every time, and is always reverted and looped around again by one character's interaction with the throne (of which I'd see YV going for the loop every time.) However, the IDPD's dimension is always interconnected with at least one of the other universes in which the mutants reside, so looping resets the IDPD's universe too, which the IDPD doesn't want and therefore sends soldiers out to fight against. It also lets fans create their own ideas for how the characters grow and interact with each loop if you bring in the idea of each character kinda growing wiser as the loops continue just because the loops mess with their mutations. For instance Eyes may not talk the first run to the throne, but one could easily make the headcanon that as the loops go on Eyes learns to communicate through telepathy as his mind gets affected by the loops. It's one reason I hope the "ending" to Nuclear Throne doesn't ever really put any huge story line implications down with each character when the game is complete, cos the lore has just enough leeway for the fans to be able to fill in the blanks in my opinion and that makes for an excellent time with a game.

The green portals do go thru dimensions cuz if each run is in different universes but there's the weapon chest on the second vault that saves weapons between universes
This wasn't brought up in the video (perhaps because it wasn't brought up in interviews, or it's not official), but I have always been curious of our Mutants connection to the labs. While in the video, Bisnap says that no character has connections to the lab, I have always been curious about the freaks, as they are amalgams of our mutants. Freaks being Fish and Eyes, Explo Freaks being Plant and Melting, Rhino Freaks being Crystal and Steroids, and the necromancer being Robot and Rebel. These enemies are just so strange to me, they stand out to me out of most enemies in the game. I don't know where the Turrets would fit in this idea either. Anyway, thoughts anyone? Also great video Bisnap, well spoken and high quality as usual!!

I really wonder about the I.D.P.D. freaks (the zombies police after you loop 3 times) are they from an alternate reality? what caused them to mutate? How do they come back from the dead?
Is it safe to assume the world of Nuclear Throne might be our world after a nuclear war, at least according to the creators? One of the hints is "Welcome to the future". I mean, I don't think walking mutated fish or a ball of eyes would exist IRL after something like that, but still.
My theory is that melting is the Last Civilian to live but because of the radiation he mutated and became like this after years of melting his body could not take it anymore and that's why he only have 2 hp
With the the latest update buffing rouge and with how you unlock her B skin. I believed that rouge is the original IDPD cammander. But something happened and caused her or made her take the armor and run from the IDPD. Then the current commander took over and possibly caused her to run from the IDPD and labeled her as a rouge. But no one in the IDPD knows that because no one saw her face due to the captain armor covering it. My evidence is that when you kill the captain as any character you unlock the B skin for rouge she looks a lot like the captain or commander. What do you guys think

For rebel i think it was like this: Before the end of the world Rebel and Big Bandit were siblings, thats how Rebel got her scarf, after the end of the world Rebel hid in the wastelands and survived. After the player loops the throne, Rebel notices that the throne has been destroyed and sets out to reach it too. Everytime Rebel kills Big Bandit she lets out a sad sigh Also one loading screen makes me think that Rebel wants to get over her brother's death and madness (from the radiation), the line is "Forget the old days"
You forgot a few things. Fish used to be a police officer, Robot's b skin is just higher tech, like hyper weapons, Steroid's blue book can be seen in the labs, so it is likely his labs, Chicken used to be a normal chicken, and Horror is like the palace guardians, but he has free will.
Could it be that the purple portals only appear when the radiation is high enough, as in either you've killed everything and released their rads into the local environment, or that you collected them and kept them close and concentrated which made the portal. Also if it's this it could be that the rads are trying to get to their original source, which may be the throne?
I think the appearance of the proto mutant created the catastrophic event, and because melting was the closest to the event, he got some of the explosive power of the proto mutant. I also believe that the proto mutant took the same path the mutants did, spreading radiation wherever he went and creating the portals you see in the game. I also think that each crown vault is one of his hideouts where he built each of the crowns and created guardians to protect them. He went into the labs and tried his best to destroy the creations there, then went to the palace, creating all the radiation guardians and such. He made the palace his home and built the throne to sit for the rest of his short life and let the throne kill any oncomers that disturb him. Its interesting to think about.

This is really interesting. I love this game and that they're (At least for now) leaving most of it up for theory.
They're keeping it that way. Rami tweeted about how he really loves that they left the lore as vague as the actual characters' knowledge, for the most part.

The green portals do go thru dimensions cuz if each run is in different universes but there's the weapon chest on the second vault that saves weapons between universes
HOLY WOW! I've been waiting for this video forever.
Pretty much just had to wait to see Rami at an event to ask if I could say stuff yet.
This wasn't brought up in the video (perhaps because it wasn't brought up in interviews, or it's not official), but I have always been curious of our Mutants connection to the labs. While in the video, Bisnap says that no character has connections to the lab, I have always been curious about the freaks, as they are amalgams of our mutants. Freaks being Fish and Eyes, Explo Freaks being Plant and Melting, Rhino Freaks being Crystal and Steroids, and the necromancer being Robot and Rebel. These enemies are just so strange to me, they stand out to me out of most enemies in the game. I don't know where the Turrets would fit in this idea either.
Anyway, thoughts anyone?

Is it safe to assume the world of Nuclear Throne might be our world after a nuclear war, at least according to the creators? One of the hints is "Welcome to the future". I mean, I don't think walking mutated fish or a ball of eyes would exist IRL after something like that, but still.
My theory is that melting is the Last Civilian to live but because of the radiation he mutated and became like this after years of melting his body could not take it anymore and that's why he only have 2 hp
what happened is: resonance cascade
With the the latest update buffing rouge and with how you unlock her B skin. I believed that rouge is the original IDPD cammander. But something happened and caused her or made her take the armor and run from the IDPD. Then the current commander took over and possibly caused her to run from the IDPD and labeled her as a rouge. But no one in the IDPD knows that because no one saw her face due to the captain armor covering it. My evidence is that when you kill the captain as any character you unlock the B skin for rouge she looks a lot like the captain or commander. What do you guys think

Wasn't "The End of the World as we know it" caused by an atom bomb? There's a texture of an atomic explosion in the games files
isn't there a gun in the game that shoots nukes though?

Hey Snaps I really like this new type of videos, but i find it hard to digest as just the commentary on its own. Maybe next time you could put some game play on in the background or just clips of stuff that you're talking about I think it would really help the video!
For rebel i think it was like this:
Before the end of the world Rebel and Big Bandit were siblings, thats how Rebel got her scarf, after the end of the world Rebel hid in the wastelands and survived.
After the player loops the throne, Rebel notices that the throne has been destroyed and sets out to reach it too.
Everytime Rebel kills Big Bandit she lets out a sad sigh
Also one loading screen makes me think that Rebel wants to get over her brother's death and madness (from the radiation), the line is "Forget the old days"
You forgot a few things. Fish used to be a police officer, Robot's b skin is just higher tech, like hyper weapons, Steroid's blue book can be seen in the labs, so it is likely his labs, Chicken used to be a normal chicken, and Horror is like the palace guardians, but he has free will.
Also Rogue leaves the IDPD because she wants to find Lil' Hunter.

Could it be that the purple portals only appear when the radiation is high enough, as in either you've killed everything and released their rads into the local environment, or that you collected them and kept them close and concentrated which made the portal. Also if it's this it could be that the rads are trying to get to their original source, which may be the throne?
Rami said it was low amounts of life, but that doesn't mean everybody agrees.
I think the appearance of the proto mutant created the catastrophic event, and because melting was the closest to the event, he got some of the explosive power of the proto mutant. I also believe that the proto mutant took the same path the mutants did, spreading radiation wherever he went and creating the portals you see in the game. I also think that each crown vault is one of his hideouts where he built each of the crowns and created guardians to protect them. He went into the labs and tried his best to destroy the creations there, then went to the palace, creating all the radiation guardians and such. He made the palace his home and built the throne to sit for the rest of his short life and let the throne kill any oncomers that disturb him. Its interesting to think about.
