Wonderful to see this Tempest II. The Centaurus is an epic sounding powerplant. However, it's the Tempest V that I'm hoping to see take to the sky, hopefully, one day soon. It'll be a very special day to hear that Napier H-24 sing. A sound not heard in Britain for 80 odd years.
@@HidalgoBln Yes Hawker Tempest V EJ693 is currently at Sywell Airdrome in the care of Fighter Aviation Engineering and its being restored to Flying condition
One thing I noticed about this takeoff is that it was a lot less smoky than the previous flights which seems like a positive development. I’ve had the incredible good luck to see all four flights so far, here’s to many more!
true, but it don't come easy I was blessed to see and hear, a Sea Fury,at Oshkosh in 2000,with the Bristol engine, and yes it has it's own song. These engines are relying on 70-80 year old NOS parts. Outstanding Job on this Tempest Mk ll.
Just fabulous many thanks. If only the RAF could have had this variant and put into production earlier, there certainly would have been a better balance against FW 190’s and its later variants and the 262 even. The mk v sabre powered aircraft was a little slower . Instead of course the blimps in the higher command ( one in particular) who thought he knew better than Roy Fedden and Sydney camm who designed the engine and developed the airframe in ‘42(so clean) instead he held to the myth that only an inline engine could achieve the speeds necessary. Thank goodness we did have the Tempest v against the V1 in the nick of time due to the hold up to get the mk v in service.
Such a shame that it takes a war to achieve this level of piston engined excellence. I will never forget witnessing a Sea Fury take off at Nowra Naval Air base (Australia) in 1960.
The Centaurus sure sounds different behind a 4 blade prop when your so used to seeing Sea Fury Take-off's. The sound demonstrates the near identicle prop ratio to its US pen pal, the Wright R-3350. Would like to see a Mk. V Take-off before I die even though there's a pretty good period recording of this floating around the net. One of the very few WWII production aircraft to have inline and round engines used to advantage. Other examples include "Dora", Ki-61 to 100, Lagg-3 to La-5, P-36 to P-40, Halifax and Lancaster variants. Others were abortive prototypes.
Un bel avion. Forme parfaite , puissance , vitesse ... Une locomotive psychédélique . A beautiful plane. Perfect shape, power, speed... A psychedelic locomotive.

@HidalgoBln I believe so, yes.

What a superb aircraft, and that engine is just......WOW!
I just hope that the crackle is exhaust noise, but if mechanical it is only a matter of time. God forbid,

Outstanding achievement. Thank you for sharing it.
That Centaurus sounds superb!
Great to see it fitted with an original to design engine rather than the likes of an R2800 or similar.

Beautiful looking plane and with the original type of engine too!
That landing was butter! What an absolute beast of an aeroplane. Bring on the Sabre engined Tempest V
Beauty and the beast in one machine. Gorgeous and brutal. Love it. Many thanks
Now thats some mean machine. Congratulations to all involved.

Great restoration!
Always thought it had a sleeker look compared to the Fury.
Thank you for the goosebumps. Love the Tempests since reading Pierre Clostermans book as a teenager.
Absolutely gorgeous
Thank you for the restoration and video, this is so exciting to see and it would be amazing to have Mk V flying and a Mosquito once again.
Only 2 words needed.. Fantastic ....Beautiful. what an achievement.

Hawker Sea Fury and the tempest really had looks. Gorgeous airplanes!
What a magnificent beast. Love it!
Lovely!. Love that sound!. Nice one!.
Always awesome to hear that Bristol Centaurus engine! Any news about the Mark V being restored?
It's at Sywell for restoration
What mk.v

I cant wait to see a display alongside a Sea Fury and a Mark V.
And Hawker Typhoon RB396!

What is the difference between a see fury and a tempest II?
Wow!
Let's hope it'll still be flying in 2035 and get it to do a flypast when the first new Tempest is rolled out!
Great movie, thought it was a Sea Fury......... ah well, live and learn.. very enjoyable though✌🤘
One beautiful aircraft. Lets hope she stays in the uk.
The sound of that engine is so mean!
What a superb pilot.
Is that a Centaurus in there?
It certainly is!
@@AviationHighlights I should have known, it turns in the opposite direction to a P+W monstrosity.
Magnificent beast but shame it’s not running a Centaurus, though a 2500hp 3350 still sounds lovely.
Actually, she is running a Centaurus!
@ The Centaurus doesn’t run a 4 bladed prop.
This one does. A Bristol Centaurus VI.
Interesting, this is the first Centaurus I’ve seen running a four bladed prop.
I'll have 2 please !! ❤❤
I thought the Tempest had a Napier engine .
The Mk.V did. This is a Mk.II.
Where is this ?
Duxford war museum, near Cambridge, UK.
That was sick beyond belief!
Too much carbon burn for one human.
LOL, good one!
