I agree that the tune is catchy with the lyrics being much darker. I imagine Geldof was depicting the dichotomy of the whole story about the horrific killing of innocent children by a child herself and her rather light response to why she committed such a sad, heavy act.

I haven't heard this song in roughly 25 years. I recall listening to it almost every day as a teenager. I like the abstract nature of it. Definitely unique. - You should have kept on singing at the end there. It was sounding good with your voice.

I remember when the shooting went down because I was still in elementary school at the time and even though I lived several hundred miles away from where it happened, the thought that schools were not safe places sent a chill up and down the state. Forty years and dozens of school shootings later America still can't figure out the problem and no longer seem to care much about it really, except for the week or so after it happens when everybody talks up thoughts and prayers and then quickly rushes back to business as usual. The silicon chip inside our heads is busted for sure.
