I used to go to the beach, looking at the people in the beach clubs thinking "wah, I want to be under that beach umbrella and lie on the day bed". Now I'm there LOL! #manifestit
when i living alone.. the thing i miss most is dinner time with the family. to be honest once you stay alone long enough u will start to go back to parents place lesser and lesser
Facebook Marketplace & Carousell surprisingly also has House Rental stuff although PropertyGuru's interface is still the most thorough imho! I've seen lease takeovers - if you are looking for a shorter term rent and most of the time - they follow the rates of the current contract which would be cheaper since it is not following the current market. Hope this helps!
im curious how much was ur electricity bill with the aircon on 24/7 in singapore... our hottest month in st louis here in the states sometimes gets up 44c or hotter... my aircon is set at 18c n my electric bill was only 320-340 mark... its about 800sq ft with a 2.5 ton central aircon system
Okay lah, maybe i exaggerated a bit (defo not 24/7 since i leave the house too) but for the most part, I do use the AC very often - and with guests i on the whole house. My bill maximum was like 300 iirc that was a heavy AC usage month - then i tried my best to limit already because 300 is a lot bro haha! (can buy 100 roasted chicken rice sial)
whats ur plan after ur 2 years with the current place ur staying in? will u continue the place ur currently renting or will u venture out to another rental flat/ get ur own bto/resale? what happens to the furniture u bought to this rental flat? do u throw em away or bring it over to the next place
To be very honest, I would want to explore a different house if I am still renting - maybe even overseas.. But of course, if I can buy - I will buy lah! - although like i said, i'm still single so the chances of getting a house before 35 is highly unlikely - unless i strike toto then i buy condo liao LOL!
In terms of furniture - definitely try to sell - they are in very good condition cuz i take care of them really well :) so can offset my initial expenditure by a bit :D
Hey man! I was very lucky that my rent was $2.3k (utilities (w/o wifi) = $200) - this was also because I started last year - this year however is INSANE. I wanted a very specific living situation thus I was prepared to tank the whole cost but if you are more open to other arrangements - living with friends is great too, although it comes with its own challenges. Cheers mate!
% mean many things to different people but yeah, that is a good gauge for rent expenditure - Also, I did mention that I was fortunate enough to make some money through other means and investments so that got me going. - I wish I was earning $11.5 a month ngl haha!
@@Johnne009 not if you already have money saved up from elsewhere tbh, you could just strike it rich with a one time thing and be able to afford rent even though its more than 20% of your salary
Im 38 this year as of 2023, got my keys at 31. I know this dont link to your idea. But from my perspective as a flat owner, is we need professional tenant like you to support our dream of passive income, so i would encourage those not getting married anytime soon to move out to rent from late 20s. I dont know does all these sound selfish?
Good on you mate! Getting a house at that age - you must have worked extra hard! As a renter, I do hope you're a great landlord - at least a fair one :)
I guess most of us work roughly the same in terms of hard work. My grandpa and my father worked the hardest till their bone dry and yet i dont see them getting passive income. But generation will eat the next generation, if you know what i mean. Sentimentally, i hope local buy flats, foreigner rent.
@@sumit6190p I would say decent but I did mention that the reason I was able to afford this (and not worry too much about monthly deductions) was investments and stuff :)
Thank you for your authenticity in sharing, Rainier. 🤍 Seeing you create an ideal space that serves you is so inspiring! I've moved out too but am still moving things around and creating routines that work for me. :)
I'm glad you found a space for yourself too! Moving in takes time but it is definitely worth it! - NGL it took me 3-4 months before i got settled in just because I rented a completely empty flat
What are your thoughts on moving out?
"Your 30s are your 20s but with money" is *so* true. I had fun in my 20s, but after I hit 30, I could actually ball out a little bit now and then!

What you said makes sense, the bit about trips and staycations. It's important to know yourself and do things for your mental health.

Thanks for sharing! It's def a good decision to move out for more independence and mental health reasons :D
can share how much of your pay you spend on rental? Interested in doing the same but dk if i can afford it

You should generally not spend more than 20% of your pay on rental, to afford 2.3k rent , you should be earning around $11.5k

think most guys should learn to live alone be independent but comes at a high cost but hey u get ur privacy? anyway congrats for been indpendent!
I was already independent before but living alone was a huge wake up call - no regrets though but yes, it did come at a high cost.
Whether or not one lives with their parents is utter irrelevance, so for you to question one’s independence isn’t a right way to put it.
hello, just curious what is your ethnicity? u look malay but also look Chinese
Filipino (-Chinese?)

To me is unless your family problem is too complicated and you need to move out by renting by all means. Renting in SG is stupid

Wah sia moving out in this rental market. Guess smart looking bhai call pay must be good
TBF, rental market was less crazy last year. This year - another story for another time haha! Also what is smart looking bhai call?
