    Thanks for showing how it looks under the wheel wells after cutting. As you said, a lot of other vids just stop after they do the cutting and don’t show/explain what to do with the exposed areas under the wheel well. Appreciate your content!

      I like the look of the cut but can’t get past the unfinished sloppiness of the leftover fender liners…😬

      At a minimum follow on with some sturdy HC bumpers it's extra insurance you won't regret

    Not a big fan of this mod. Unless you're having serious rubbing issues, or always banging that part of your bumper on the trail, I really don't get the need for such a drastic cut. When complete it just looks so unfinished, and you did a good job of showing that with the passenger side of your rig. I have a 2013, so this mod doesn't really work on mine anyway, but either way I really doubt that I would do it.

      @OverlandEngineer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I see where you are coming from. That Is what I had thought initially too so I had just aggressive trimming without the cut. But then I saw it on some other rigs and decided to go for it. After doing it and relocating the washer tank, I think it will look pretty good. It definitely gives a more aggressive offroad look in person that photos don't really show in my opinion.

      There's a significant tradeoff with the viper cut. You get better approach angle at the front tires but expect to lose ~2 mpg (or more) on the highway as the cut removes body work that directs air around the wheel well and away from the rotating wheel. With the cut air is streaming into the wheel well introducing significant drag.

    Let’s see that engine filter in a couple of months to see how much more dust you pick up - I guess maybe not so dusty up there - more snowy :)

    Hoping to get C4 bumper soon. I have the money but I’m all of a sudden a little trigger shy. Kind of in sticker shock. Didn’t have the money yet during Black Friday and I just dropped a ton of money on maintenance. I really need to start filming and doing some videos myself. I have a tendency to dive into doing then end up saying oh well I’ll film the next thing….. I use my 4R daily for work. I interact with many people and I know many have gone out and purchase a 4R after working with me or checking mine out. It’s an excellent platform and it would be hard to beat. I have 193,000 miles and mine is a 2022 that I got in 2021. Most of the miles like 95% are highway. And I have slowed down over the last year as I have been working more locally. But I’m going to get a million miles out of my 4R. Then I’m going to try to get a million more.

  • @RexOffroad

    Hi mate, With no snorkel I would be worried about exposing the factory air intake channel to splash back. Can be a problem with aftermarket bullbars also when not fitted with an accompanying snorkel. Not sure about you particular set up but just though I might flag it as the consequences could be very expensive. Cheers!
