    Oh, Tay, I feel your pain. some milk companies will pay you 75% if you have to dump milk. But glad it wasn't the whole tank! moisture causes corrosion on the contacts! that is all part of farming! If it can break, it will! That's a slip clutch! That's so if something goes wrong, that will cause the shaft to slip instead of breaking something!

    Another great video. Farming brings about very strange occurrences. Never know what might happen. When an electrical part fails it can affect so many other things. It is a shame when you have to dump ilk like that, but better to be safe than sorry. Great to see the mower back together and ready to go. LHope you have a great day and week. Can't wait for the next video. God bless

    Losing a milking is tough, like you said glad it was not a days milking. The relays fail every so often, brent sure got his time from that one. Similar to a well relay it doesn't hurt to have one. Calves look great. Hope you are doing well and staying safe.

    Good morning Taylor, I am glad that you were able to get your bulk tank cooler repaired. Any loss of milk is hard to take especially when you work so hard for that product. Sometimes things go wrong when you least expect it. The new contractor hopefully will last another 50 years.
    Are those heifer calves you are raising going to be an addition to your herd in 2 years or are they going to replace some of your older cows .
    Again your mechanical abilities enable you to work on all machinery maintenance. You complement Brent very well. Have you noticed any growth from the seed that you planted with the manure spreader? Anxious to see some results. Thanks again for another informative video. 😊

    • @tayfarms
      @tayfarms  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yes we are so glad that the problem was an easy fix! The calves are hopefully going to be an addition to the herd as all our old girls are doing well at the moment but that can change. I’ll be updating y’all on the seed in the next week coming! It’s looking good!!😄

    .... laughing .... so is the new part on the refrigeration system going to last as long as the one it replaced .... question that it was a drive "thing", thought it was a drive "what's-it" or was it "doohickey" .. smilin .. just a couple of my fav go to thingy words ...... have to say, still a newbe here, have watched several of your videos now, sure enjoy seeing how non high tech systems still work just fine, maybe more labor intensive but very doable. That scraper thingy behind the cows would have been the latest and greatest back in the day, pretty slick even today. Also love the field equipment, so cool .... what is the loft above the milking used for, was that hay storage back in the square bale days ..... great video .... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans .....

    Bulk tanks can be fickle things. I am thankful you only lost one milking. Parts don't last forever. I remember mixing milk replacer for calves. The replacer we used came with metal spatulas to stir with. Mom even used them in the kitchen. You lamented calling the PTO shaft the "drive thing." I was impressed you didn't call it the "drive thingy." Great video Tay! Keep them coming!

    “Drive thing” slip clutch, fyi. The problem with waiting for the guy to fix the problem means the cows have more time to make more milk and it takes longer to milk them which just makes a complete hames of the day which was already ruined!

    Seems that milk could go to feed hogs or some other animal...
    I was working at a food plant yrs ago (Ho Ho Ho , Green Giant) and the days production had to be discarded because fly larvae (maggots ) were found on the production line...
    (Poor sanitation) .
    But...they donated it all to a hog farm where it fed thousands of them..

    • @tayfarms
      @tayfarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a great use for it! Unfortunately Maine doesn’t have any large hog farmer left, used to have quite a lot but they all went out of business
