You critics are all the same. If AP doesn’t release anything other than Royal Oak, you’ll claim they’re a one-trick pony. When they do release watches with a different style, you’ll criticise them for being desperate to shed that stigma. You’re not original.
@@Kr0nicridah Typically, these people who criticize AP can't afford one and have probably never even seen one in person. Until you get a Royal Oak on your wrist, you don't know what you're talking about.

Not many people are going to wear these expensive, investment pieces as their daily watch. There's something simple and pure having to wind a watch, even after the watch has stopped working.
It's no jumping minute counter but a continuous one. Like the Tudor Heritage Chrono wirh the DD module on a 2892. Not really a good move considering the cost. 40s chronos were hand wound and very intricate with well executed subdial mechanisms. Like jumping minutes, indeed.

It's definitely a breath of fresh air from AP. Bought one from the grey Market at the price of a panda Daytona, this remaster01 beats the Daytona hands down from a collectorbility perspective. If ap is committed to steer away from being over dependent on the tree, remaster series could be one option and we are witnessing the beginning
This was one of my grails from the photos, but I was so disappointed when I finally saw and wore it. It just doesn't look or feel expensive in the hand, and at that price I'd expect white gold or platinum instead of the mostly steel case. There's simply no comparison to a Patek or Lange chronograph, and the one I saw was being sold off unused below list price. I heard that people who want to buy some hot Royal Oak models are being forced to buy these and then dumping them at a loss. So instead I ordered a Habring Doppel-Felix chronograph at a fraction of the price.
@@MuscleBandit I'm glad you found it interesting. But the most amazing thing is the price - less than $10K for a largely hand-made split-second chronograph from an internationally recognized master watch designer and maker.

Yeah I agree with you. Quite refreshing to see this from AP especially when compared their new watch with a marvel superhero and other watches with (extremely) flashy designs, which can get quite tiring to look at lol. But of course that's just my opinion. Those styles will definitely be appealing to others

It's nice to see Audemars Piguet breaking away from the ubiquitous Royal Oak to try something new, even if it's doing that by reissuing something old, but I think it's failed here. There's a lot of good - the quality, as evidenced by the close up camera work, is, as always, excellent. In its individual parts, I think it's a beautiful watch but for me, I think it falls flat as soon as it's taken as a whole. There's just something about it that I can't quite put my finger on, that screams inauthentic. I understand it's a modern interpretation of a vintage piece, but maybe it was a vintage piece that needed to be left alone in its design rather than trying to be updated. Point in case, both Vacheron Constantin's Cornes de Vache and American 1921 are reissues of historical models, both updated for a modern generation, yet both straddle that delicate line between homage and reinterpretation beautifully. Maybe it's because AP have been too closely associated with the Royal Oak for too long that it's hard to see past that, but I genuinely think both this and the Code 11.59 are misses for the brand.
From an automotive perspective, this is more like the current Morgan Plus Six: classic looks on the outside, modern automatic mechanicals inside, and just as controversial among the opinionated.
I'd get an El Primero and have done with it! Or a special edition Speedmaster. The dial on this looks great but I'm not a fan of the case. To explore the digital remaster analogy further, it must be remembered that an album remaster done properly (as opposed to a reissue) is a mastering of the original tapes using up to date digital technology, hence rendering a better sound. So if AP had just reengineered the same movement as in the original watch, using all the advantages of the latest tools to improve it, maybe that would be the same thing. What they have done here appears to be the equivalent of Pink Floyd's immersion version of their studio albums.
I'll save a ton of coin and get a Breitling Datora, just as good looking with much more intersecting complications, I could name JLC and Blancpain that have models that kick this ones ass too. Disclaimer, I have never been a AP fan.
I think that it is a beautiful watch, certainly one of the more beautiful ones in the last years.I do agree with you that a handwound movement would be a better choice than an automatic one ,and possibly cheaper, however i don't think the valjoux 7750 would be a good choice. The original , probably a valjoux 72 was in my opinion in a completely different level of quality compared to the 7750.In my opinion , the best option would be the use of the original movement, but since that is unlikely, the use of an in house handwound chronograph movement would be a viable choice.
Not the biggest fan of this watch, I just think that VC are far better at this genre of watch. I do love however, the sunken registers and the dial finishing in general. The price however is not ridiculous but give me the VC any day - Great video again.
Is it collectible in its own right, or is it better than the Vacheron Constantin? If it doesn’t come under either category, then it will have to come down to personal choice only. I like the traditional feel of this watch, but I’d be hanged if I’d pay over £53k for it!
Nice watch, great video. The VC Cornes de vache is simlar in deed, but more desirable to me… The design, the VC brand and the manual movement speaks to me much more. However, spending this money I would choose the Lange 1815 Chrono… The movement is a class of its own.

I could see this being a hit. Kind of goes with a younger Aimé Leon Dore type aesthetic thats the opposite of wha the royal oak is. I think its smart.
Not bad - much nicer than the Royal Oak, at least, but the hands are a bit spindly and insubstantial. Especially as they don't have the greatest contrast with the dial.
Would I buy this instead of, say, a Zenith? I don't think so!
That is one beautiful seagull copy!
Do a video on the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 please. Nice video nontheless.
