    My God thank you for this, I had my flute for sometime and played it or was learning to play and one day I picked it up and it wasnt playing or sounding like it was before, I really had to play around with the wood trap on top to get back some sort of sound

    I was wondering, would it be a good idea to use vaseline to wax bare-wooden flutes? I discovered that putting vaseline on the soundblock (that was very porous and caused the flute to water-out very quickly) made a better sound and prolonged the time before it watered-out. Otherwise, I would just use oil, just like you recommended in one of your videos. Thanks and keep up the great work! We need more honest and loving people like you. :-)

      I haven't tried Vaseline yet however the burning process I use also helps protect them from wetting out!

      It depends on if it's a flute that you made or one that you bought from me. Either way, it will need more troubleshooting than this video may have to offer you. Could you please contact me through the contact form at the bottom of my website after which I will give you further instructions. bluebearflutes.com

    What do I do if my flute isn't making any flute noises at all? When I blow into it, it just sounds like me blowing into a wooden straw.

      If it is a flute you made, I have videos on how to make the flute produce sound. If you bought it from someone watch my video, "Troubleshooting tips for beginner Native American Flute players"

    Hi Charlie, I'm getting a harsh buzzing sound from my native American flute when I play most of the notes, all the holes are covered properly.. any idea what this could be?

    • @BlueBearFlutes
      @BlueBearFlutes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although it's probably best to ask this kind of question in an email, the next thing I would ask you is it a flute that I made or someone else made? If it is one that I made, I would check and see if there are any cracks where it is been stepped on or broken and if the block is tied down tight. Then I would suggest checking under the block. There are a number of things you could do but it all revolves around the origin of the vibration.

    Why can't I get any sound out of my flute what's wtong

    • @BlueBearFlutes
      @BlueBearFlutes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question! It's almost as good as calling a mechanic a thousand miles away and asking them why your car won't start.
      I don't mean to sound rude, I just didn't want to miss the opportunity. I have hundreds of videos to tell you how to fix whatever's wrong with your flute. For most of you Outsiders, you think that Native American people are magical and can cast a spell on your flute and make it play. You're absolutely correct but I'm not going to do that. You're going to have to learn how to do it the hard way. Feel free to ask any other questions, send pictures emails contact me through my website phone me or anything you'd like to do but there's a better way to ask the question is all I'm saying.

      Is black walnut a good wood for flutes

    • @BlueBearFlutes
      @BlueBearFlutes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @carlross5884 it is certainly a matter of perspective. I have made a few flute out of that myself, one of the other large flute companies in the world have used it exclusively however historically it was never done. It definitely won't affect whether your flute can play or not.

      If you watched this entire video and it didn't help you, let me ask are you making a flute or did you purchase a flute from someone else?
