    Your nail polish matches your fabric & your fingertips nearly disappear into the fabric! They’re camouflaged! 😁😁 they’re beautiful, as is the hat. Thank you!

      I was thinking the same thing about the pin she used to pin the center of the bow in place. :-)

    Just picked up a vintage industrial Singer machine, works like a charm! Think this may be the first project I expose it to. Awesome tutorial!

      Those old machines are awesome. I have three old ones, a 1883 IM, a 1892 UFA( 29) and a 1863 Singer 2.

    Could one use a vintage broach instead of the big bow. I am older and might feel a little silly wearing the bow, but it is adorable on you. Also, I have so many broaches in my jewelry box.

    • @bettyhazel6282
      @bettyhazel6282 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Just personal style....of course, rock your bow, at any age, if you wish. This is not worthy of a debate, just enjoy your own style and be yourself.

      You could also make a fabric flower or a ribbon rose to stitch on 😁

  • @MabruBlack
    @MabruBlack 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    OMG I LOVE IT! I'm definitely making one to match all of my wardrobe too lol... and yes, the bow its a VERY important part of this!!! my favorite part is that its structured, I prefer when hats have a defined shape, and most berets are too floppy on my head. Boning its kinda expensive, so I'm definitely using the zip ties hack.

    I love all your hats. I managed the pillbox (three iterations until I got the sizing the way I wanted so now have a beige one, a red velvet one and a brown velvet one which is my favorite, I need to finish the lining yet but that wont take long. Its like you said, you make one, then you want one for every outfit!

    You do good hats. That pattern would have looked good with the tartan from the other coat you did too. I love the videos and the different things you make. That sewing inside the hat is something i need to practice. Sewing in confined spaces and things that are not flat. Thank you for the great video. I would put a thistle brooch on that tartan beret though instead of the bow though....

    This is cute! I’m saving the pattern to make out of velvet with a velvet stole. I have seen some really cool vintage head covering patterns on Etsy. I made one, it was basically a decorative scarf/headband. But I embellished it to the heavens, lol. Definitely want to see more. If stores won’t bring hats back, we can do it ourselves.

    I loved this hat in the stingray coat vid! Thank you for the tutorial and pattern pieces. I want to make some artsy berets, but I think the structure this hat provides will be a better foundation for showing off fancy work like embroidery or beading.

    I really like this hat and I might even make one, though I can’t imagine when I’d wear it. I love hats. Living is a hatless era is one of my life’s great disappointments. Everyone everywhere has worn hats until I was born! My high school lost the hat from the school uniform only a couple of years before I went there. How cruel is that? I think I’ll line the crown as well though. It will have a cleaner look. Thanks so much for your videos, I really enjoy them. 🥰

      If there's one thing the historybounding community has taught me, it's that "modern fashion" doesn't matter. Who cares what everyone else is wearing? If wearing hats makes you feel glamorous then screw everyone else. Just enjoy being fabulous while everyone else is in their drab little world trying not to stand out.
