- Mexico City’s residents are approaching a “day zero” where the government will no longer be able to provide them water. A city that was once built on water is now nearly dried up. How did this happen and what is being done to fix it?

We figured out how to deal with lack of Water in Brasil, collect the rain water and store it in tanks on our roofs. Also inconsistent water supply from the city you can take more water than you need when there is pressure. So days without pressure you still have water.
Out of curiosity, what part of Brazil where you don't get mains water pressure?
My wife is from Campo Grande and the water system is pretty good.
Brazil is a huge country though!
that works if you can get enough precipitation yearly (and have enough roof to colect said water), here in mexico I would be weary of drinking rainwater without passing it through a chemical treatment.
Hello everyone, I live in Mexico City, and I have lived here all my life, the issue of water is every year, at this time, it is not new, and the shortage is not in the entire city, it is in some areas where this situation becomes very marked but there are other areas where we never suffer from the vital liquid. I live in the Gustavo A Madero mayor's office, where I have my house, fortunately we never lack water. Please, we must Be more objective about what is said. This channel does an excellent job and has many followers here in Mexico, greetings.

It's not a surprise to me that wealthier parts of the city are disaffected. How does your maid and/or gardener feel about the situation??
And this year its affecting even more areas that have never been affected before, if you really still have water then you need to check your privilege rather than dismiss the problem

My husband’s family lives in Gustavo a. Madero too, but so what?!! There is a water crisis in Mexico City and that is a fact. His family isn’t rich, by the way. They’re just fortunate to be living in an area where the pipes are still functioning. You may be lucky to have water 💦, in G.A. Madero, but there is still a crisis for other barrios in Mexico City and other parts of Mexico, such as in Chiapas. It's the Nestle, Coke and Beer companies taking all of the water of the country.
And a··holes in the government that choose investing in a deep sewage system than water treatment plants, because that doesn't look nice politically speaking.
It’s a global issue. Human consumption water is the most precious resource in the world. We all need to do our part to preserve water.

There is nothing we can do. The heavens are punishing us all for the sins and crimes of humanity. Unfortunately, it just so happens that less developed nations suffer most when the heavens are angry.

I live in Puerto Rico we had water restrictions a couple of years ago.
The government here says that it was because all of Puerto Rico's water reservoirs need to be drugged out.
Of course there's no drugging going on that I know of.

I've worked in Mexico City. For several months of the year from about 4pm, the roads in Mexico City turn into rivers. Instead of creating infrastructure to retain this run-off, it is allowed to flood into inadequate storm drains and disposed of as sewerage.
Meanwhile upriver in America: damnit forgot to turn off my sprinklers again 🤣
Texas has always had water rationing.
Tourists destination is one of the problems. I hear it is cheap and the USA, Canada, and other countries go for weeks. Charge a lot more.

Big buildings, apartments . And construction of new of them are taking the water. The rich have the access while the less fortunate deal with it.

Part of the problem is the Mexico is trying to enforce US drug policies instead of drilling deep wells to meet the growing needs of the people and to be prepared for times of drought.
The US experienced the dust bowl in the 1930s and that was not due to so called climate change.
