Anthony Ellis, the pro0lifi8c and most excellent of the finest radio program was the husband to Georgia Ellis, Kitty in the radio shows..and IMHO there was not a better produced radio show..the acting was superb, sound production was realistic..and the plots elicited true emotion from the listener..just cannot say enough on how great this show was..may they all RIP..
This episode held me hostage for 30 minutes. We all attacked the bad guys in the end. I especially like John Dehner using his voice to show us what it's like to be beaten to death.
Back in the day if you were a killer no jail for you. Die almost instantly. Now a day how many criminals are on death raw years and years and at the end they go free
Pretty hard core, imagination is more realistic than seeing it.
One of the best episodes since I started listening to the series
One of the best. I love Gunsmoke.
This episode is the real deal, the radio program is so much more western-noir. Great great stuff.
Wow this surprised me. I’ve listened to most of these episodes but this is the first time hearing this. Great story 🙌🏻
Wow...This episode was great!!! Anthony Ellis was one of CBS’ best writers. This was my first time hearing this one and I was not disappointed!!!
Great episode

Good story. I remember from 10 years back. Thanks OTR.
This is a great example of why dramatic radio was known as Theatre of the Mind.

This episode illustrates that when you are involved in a battle, you should be willing to bury the hatchet ... in your enemy’s head.
Luv it when the killer meets justice! Matt rocks!
It got "crazy" when the women started screaming..took me by surprise the first time I listened to this episode. Really good one though.

Good story 👍
My farther would of loved this but he's gone now.
Now ypu enjoy in his place. You father is peaceful now. You take care of yourself and do him proud. That honors him.
Well said Granny
Gunmen take over a town. Excellent episode. And that was the west.
Damn! This was BRUTAL!! No tv-style "happy endings" here. Conrad's Matt Dillon is a mean s.o.b. when he gets riled!! "Meshougah" indeed!
The radio series was even more "adult" than the early years of the tv series.
Love bill conrad as Dillon..hes a tough s.o.b.
Yes! It's too bad that James Arness didn't have the same tough, hard character, (And voice!) that Conrad had on the radio show.
Current writers are completely incapable of this caliber of writing. Even the acting was outstanding…. I was truly moved with strong emotion
What does the title mean?
Town name.
I also thought its a Jewish word for "crazy".
@@jerryrob8621 Yes, you are correct! I'm not Jewish but I Googled it, I knew it was something like that. It says, "crazy or idiotic."
It's Yiddish.
Gonif is another yiddish Gunsmoke title.
