These shows go so fast! This is probably my favorite season. Less locks. -less work for you. Thank you for going into that town and taping the church. Wonderful to see that. It was amazing. This canal is very beautiful. Special.
I hope you don’t feel rushed to get from point A to point B on our behalf. I personally enjoy the journey itself, including your exploration of towns, making tea, trying pies, etc… It’s that journey that keeps me tuning in every time, and spending time with CHG wherever he may be.
Hi Kevin, thanks for another great episode, one of the reasons why I enjoy following your journeys along the canals is because you do most everything on your own including most of the locks, truly one man and his boat. I have watched several TH-cam channels that claim to be solo boaters but have found they rarely are on their own they will frequently have family and friends on board helping them. I admire your courage and conviction to stay true to your chosen path despite the low patch in your life around the third series. Long may your adventures continue.
The Saint Margaret of Antioch Cathedral was a beautiful site……truly a most lovely, peaceful, historic & noble place. Fascinating Thank You Kevin I wish you health, wealth & happiness! My parents rode off into the sunset on a Triumph Motorcycle after being married! ❤❤❤
We saw you go past Steve on that day on his live feed, wondered if you had recognised him! 🤭What a beautiful church and such a historic area. Great episode Kevin.
The tour of the battlefield is fascinating. You wander all round it listening to details of the battle, then at the end they tell you it wasn't there after all, but at the other side of the canal.
A cup of coffee, my pipe, and Country House Gent on the old tablet. What better way to spend a quiet Saturday afternoon? Looks like in the space of a mile, or so, you've been transported from boaters hell to boaters paradise, taking us along with you.
Indeed David, what a difference a day makes. Been a few years but I do occasionally miss enjoying a puff on my favourite old pipe, loaded up with some Gold Block.
Ha ha ha!!!! A set of heated rollers or I wished I'd looked after my teeth were and are still brilliantly funny. They still make me laugh today. Thanks for the video Kevin.
Ty Kevin, another lovely meander down the canal and a wander through that lovely village. The church was quite beautiful . Till next time take care stay safe 🌸
lovely episode, Kevin -- very much enjoyed the tour of peaceful little Stoke Golding...as for my fellow commenters, Kevin never said he DIDN'T eat his shoes!!!
So happy you decided to stop in Stoke Golding Kevin. The Church of St. Margaret just wowed me! Back in the day they really took the time, money, and effort to build something extraordinary. So happy your country or the people of the area take an active interest in preserving such a bit of history. Thank you for sharing this with us. Best wishes as always, Deb
You're very welcome Deb. Quite right, a considerable amount of care and attention has been put into the church. They sure knew how to build em back then.
Enjoyed the scenery and the history in this episode CHG! Looked a lot more realaxed and peaceful than the last time. Already looking forward to even more history in the next episode. Cheers, until next week!
awesome episode, the Ashby certainly is beautiful. Gotta say too I love when you film in the canal side towns. I love the little English villages and towns, so different from the US. Thanks again for taking us along!
Greetings from Florida 🌴. Great episode. The cathedral was beautiful. We very much enjoy your walks through the villages and the nice countryside as well.
Thanks to a docudrama a few years ago, even this American friend knows the significance of Bosworth Field! I felt like we were traveling back through time in this episode. Thanks from an Anglophile!
Thanks Kevin, for taking us along through this lovely part of the country and the visit to the lovely and ancient St Margaret's church. I hope that you are doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thank you for another great cruise vlog. I certainly appreciated that beautiful church and all the things that you accentuated, especially the ones with the text to go along with what we were seeing. Thanks for the moon and the airplane flying along in the sky. See you again next time, from over here in Portland, Oregon.
Yes, that gentleman is one of the 4 go Narrowboating 4. He is half of Life Onboard Amy Jo. His other half is an equally young woman with long blonde hair. Fun cruise and funny commentary. Thanks!
Your deductive reasoning is astounding. To conclude that Bosworth Field, after which the battle is named, is a Field! Simply genius! 😁 Great video as always Kevin. One thing that you don't see here in the US are 700 year old buildings. Fantastic.
Grand vlog Kevin such a lovely church you and Aslan no worse for the journey through the ice I no you said all was ok but good to see allis fine tc now theoldies 👍👋🤗
Wow thanks for all the countryside and scenery. It is all so breathtaking. All we have left in Longton is a Minimart/gas station. You can not go inside, they meet you at the door and return with your item, if they have it.
Great episode. I really enjoy your videos. As an American who has always been an Anglophile but will probably never be able to travel there, I love to see the villages and other sights. I really enjoyed the visit to the medieval church and learning about the history associated with it. Thank you.
Was so very determined to try the lifestyle through yours, Robbie’s and David’s video commentary but had to accept just not physically up to it. Boat on. Bosworth Field and Plantagenets? Never heard of them.
I live not far from all these places I only been to market Bosworth a couple of times and it is nice place. The chippy is good there apparently. But what a gem of a church in Stoke Golding. Thanks Kevin enjoying you journey.
Thank you, Kevin, for a lovely jaunt through some very pretty countryside. Loved the visit to the Church at Stoke Golding. The flooring, the design, the whole thing is a work of beauty. The stories that those walls could tell. Sigh. I just can't get enough of the gentle putt-putt of your engine and you move along. Has a sound that is very pleasing to the ears. Looking forward to seeing what the end of the Ashby is like. Has been a while since I have seen other Boat Tubers heading up there.
The Ashby is really great canal Kevin. We hired a boat from Stoke Golding last year and another booked for this year. Lovely place. Another great video. Perfect Friday night viewing. Take care mate.
The Ashby IS, indeed, beautiful! My favorite moment is a 3:43, just before passing under bridge number 20! It would make a gorgeous water color painting! I also loved the church tour. Today's video is a lovely typical day in your life!
Another great ep! One of things I always love about England, is the history. A church that old and in condition is mind blowing. USA is quite young. However one of the best things about living here these days, is being able to blame senility on Cannabis!
18:28 Happy memories - I once stopped off at the Three Horseshoes for lunch on my way from Liverpool to London. July 1990 it was, and an excellent meal.
21:08 a field? at bosworth? a battle of? no way?! 😂😂😂 bosworth field is a nice place, as i recall, its more a hill! big flag at the top signifying one side, another at the bottom for the other. nice research there kevin! 😂😂😂 also great vid (as usual 😊)
Did your exact route last Autumn. The Triumph factory has a free museum well worth a look. The shop keeper at Stoke Golding was quite the most miserable bloke I’ve met in a while - hope he was having a bad day as to be like that all the time would make for a miserable life !
So glad you got to keep your sole food on your feet Kevin, and you got to enjoy a real meal instead... still that ice was persistent! That chapel was very well preserved, bet it cost quite a bit for maintenance, very nice of you to show us. Well, happy travels to you and Aslan... Cheers from Tennessee, USA
Some absolutely stunning skyscapes in this week's video! I loved the tour of Stoke Golding and it's ancient church too. So glad you managed to get your milk in the end!
Hi Kevin! Stoke Golding might not be the first in retail offerings, (although they do have milk) but the countryside and the Church of St. Margaret makes it worth a stopover. Thanks for taking us along. Cheers!
Thanks Kevin, enjoyed my ride along, Aslan sounds perfect, glad the ice is gone, I really didn’t want you to eat your boots! Haha 😂, oh has anyone ever tried to have duck that was accidentally killed by a narrow boat? Duck tastes pretty good 👍 Just asking? Cheers mate, Charlie from Pennsylvania.
Kevin, early this week I stumbled onto the Emily Jo. Lovely married couple and they were also stuck in the ice on the Ashby canal. When you encountered them, they announced shortly before you saw them, that Aslan and the Country House Gent was heading towards them. It was delightful to see Aslan on another channel. 😂 The church was lovely, thank you. Perhaps as the village is where the Tudor dynasty began they have kept it in good shape. Stay safe. Prayers.
Beautiful episode and so glad the ice was gone! Perhaps you tempted fate by doing a season in Jan? 😉 Thanks so much for stopping at St Margaret's - fabulous building, so peaceful & thought-provoking. You have done a thoroughly lovely job of photography (or is it called videography?) and editing; an enjoyable episode all the way around. I always find myself surprised that it is at the end. Love watching you - from West Texas--
Each new weekly episode goes great with a side of lunch which lends itself to a moment of tranquility.
Thanks
Wow, thank you so very much Chris. Fabulous to see you're enjoying the videos. Cheers, 🙂
@@CountryHouseGent As you have given me many hours of release from the daily grind I though it only right to give you some pie tokens.

Much enjoyed more of your gentle traveling and your liken to painting skills Kevin.
Another fabulous video. Top job!

It’s that journey that keeps me tuning in every time, and spending time with CHG wherever he may be.
Watching your show is an beautiful and interesting tour of England. So different than Southern California, USA. Thanks!
Thanks!
That's most appreciated, cheers. 😊
It was Steve from 4 Go Narrowboating! We watched you go past on his live feed 😀
And you went past the boat we hired from ashby boat Co. Measham. Lovely boat. Even better video now Kevin! Cheers
Thank you for sharing the interior of St. Margaret's. It was fascinating!
You're welcome Kathleen, there was so much history in that place.
Thank you again for the weekend entertainment! Your videos are highlight for my family and I on Fridays.
Fabulous to hear you're tuning in every Friday to watch the series and thank you again for your contribution. 😊

Absolutely fascinating. Almost like an above ground version of “Time Team”
😁👍

Fascinating
Thank You Kevin
I wish you health, wealth & happiness!
My parents rode off into the sunset on a Triumph Motorcycle after being married!

Great camera work in this episode - so aesthetically pleasing!
I would say your journey this time was a real Triumph!
Oh dear. ☺️
Oh dear. ☺️
Kevin, I greatly enjoyed watching this episode especially the tour of The Church of St Margaret of Antioch...⛪🇬🇧
Many thanks Steve. Most appreciated. The church was quite an impressive place and don't think I've ever been in one so quiet 🙂
oh my goodness - bridge 20!! glad you didn't have to eat your shoes - tho secretly I think I was rather relishing the prospect. thank you Kevin
Very nice and interesting video 😊thank you

Excellent! I get the Notifications via PC, but watch via the TV which has no option to Like....so, here's a Like!
Lovely countryside and glad the ice had gone 👍xx
Thank you🙏✝️🙏🇨🇦
Great episode and scenery. Thanks 🎉
Lovely cruise and look round the church. Enjoying season 9 very much. 😊

Love how Kevin goes all ‘Pam Ayers’ on certain sentences…😉…liking the Ashby… nice
Ah, enjoyed a bit if Pam as a kid - on BBC's Nationwide if I remember rightly. ☺️
Ha ha ha!!!! A set of heated rollers or I wished I'd looked after my teeth were and are still brilliantly funny. They still make me laugh today. Thanks for the video Kevin.

My pleasure Lloyd and thank you so much for your kind contribution. Most appreciated, cheers
Loved the show. Thanks.

Nice one Kevin. I’m a devote atheist but I love historic buildings including churches. Thank you for the tour. It’s on my list of places to visit.
Greetings from Florida 🌴. Great episode. The cathedral was beautiful. We very much enjoy your walks through the villages and the nice countryside as well.

I bet it was lovely when the horses 🐴 pulled the boats when they had the old cottages and the stables
Happy belated Birthday!
Oh thank you so much Debra, you are very kind. That's very much appreciated. Cheers 🤗

Thank you for the church tour.
Just the title and I’m whisked away to Italian Mountains to the dulcet tones of Matt Monro.
Yes me to
Grand vlog Kevin such a lovely church you and Aslan no worse for the journey through the ice I no you said all was ok but good to see allis fine tc now theoldies 👍👋🤗
Bridge 20, though-- the one that's pulling apart... That got to me almost as much as the Church did. Wow.
Thanks so much for the views of the church. BEAUTIFUL!!!!
What a nice tour of Stoke Golding. I really liked the visit to the old church.
Love seeing all the different types of narrowboat. All the distinct designs, bow types and states of repair.
It seems that everyone is individual.
Pleasant Journeys, Kevin.
What a lovely old church! Three pubs and one shop? Mmmm Stoke Golding has different priorities, it seems 🙂
Wow thanks for all the countryside and scenery. It is all so breathtaking. All we have left in Longton is a Minimart/gas station. You can not go inside, they meet you at the door and return with your item, if they have it.
Great tour of St Margaret's, 😊

Beautiful old church, the wood ceiling is gorgeous. Thanks, Kevin.

Great episode. I really enjoy your videos. As an American who has always been an Anglophile but will probably never be able to travel there, I love to see the villages and other sights. I really enjoyed the visit to the medieval church and learning about the history associated with it. Thank you.
Nice one Kevin and you caught a plane without head gasket issues!!👍
Enjoy the walkabouts as much as the cruising
Was so very determined to try the lifestyle through yours, Robbie’s and David’s video commentary but had to accept just not physically up to it. Boat on. Bosworth Field and Plantagenets? Never heard of them.

The boat yard at Stoke Golding is a proper slice of boat life gone by. Was quite taken aback by it. Fine weather and sailing to you.

😆 A part of any nutritious breakfast.
Enjoyed that.
Fun to ride along.

Excellent episode. I hate what churches represent but that one was interesting. I'd say this was one of your best vlogs mate. Well made.
Agreed. Not religious at all but I always appreciate the history and architecture.

Lovely vlog CHG I have done the Ashby twice in mid summer and both time dragging on the bottom after Bosworth

Ice in canal - evidence of more global warming. Glad you see you and Aslan survived it, Kevin. Thanks for the video of the beautiful church.

Hard to believe it's almost May and we are watching stuff from Jan...I'll bet it looks beautiful now with everything growing!
21:03 This might be my favorite moment/commentary throughout all nine seasons 😂❤
