As a high level (currently around 390), i shall provide my insight on what i see from the people who play my own mains (i main katana, banhammer, skate, boombox and sub, since i focus on positioning heavy phighters), just for those interested.
Katana: If your most people you enjoy being the dedicated frontline for your team and enjoy those rounds where you can utterly dominant more then most, you also likely touched pro servers once during a phestival and got completely stomped then stuck to normal servers since then. If you find one of the scarce katana mains that push him to the limits and heavily focus on grapples and punishing players, god speed because they will grapple you the second they see you use your movement abilities or to keep you away from their supports. Katanas will brawl any banhammers that exist
Banhammer: Generally the same as katana for the open server people, they are very similar in that regard but feel like banhammer is always weaker then katana but chose to play him anyways. Then you have the true mains that will manifest whenever they sense any opening in a fight to maul someone, playing him more akin to a biograft made of tungsten and 250 shield, playing him more akin to a dive tank then just sitting in the frontline. These ones will be found in pro servers and will usually have a specific buddy they stick around so they can apply pressure on literally the entire map. All banhammer players have an innate urge to brawl any katana's they find
Skate: Either new to the game or borderline insanse. You have the older skate mains that stick to consistantly staying onboard and racking up damage across an entire team, these guys usually have been around for atleast a few phestivals and know rollouts on almost every map. if you exist they will find a way to you in less than 10 seconds. Then you have the more support style mains, who instead of staying onboard as much as possible, will chose to deboard and combo the hell out of whoever a teammate is targeting or to protect another player, these guys tend to be overly protective of their own supports like their a younger sibling and will literally die to protect them. Skate mains in general are just borderline schizophrenic and should not be trusted
Boombox: One of 3 people, thats its. A: They are blasting either their own music or the maps music and will run directly at the enemy supports and bully them, always, they have 0 thoughts going on do not try to reason with them. B: They're following one buddy and making them an absolute unit and are the ones most likely to stomp pubs, any other allies around them are a bonus. C: Their deathballing with their entire team and will focus on getting as much shield possible on everyone and minimize damage they take themselves. Anyone with a rhythm sense at a higher level can play boombox, but if you see a boombox doing multiple of these things at once then they are likely a veteran boombox main and may god have mercy on you, because they are sending you and your entire team there.
Sub: Sub is awkward since he's in a similar boat as skateboard, either brand new players or veteran players. new players likely just dont understand his kit fully and just kinda play him cause they want to play support but their personal pick is taken, these guys end up not being much help due to how subspace plays as a result, sometimes even actively being a problem for some melees until someone tells them what to actually do. Then there are the veteran subs, these guys will actively target one person at a time and stack the living hell out of vuln on them at any given time, god forbid its a support or ban/kat because they are going to enjoy seeing them get deleted. They also tend to actively cover their own teammates with m2 and focus on setting up good Q spots to catch people trying to run away from another phighter. Their generally some of the nicest people you will run across while also completely going insane to fit with the character.
my only issue with the boombox rhythm minigame is that the metronome is offbeat by a couple milliseconds

As a supports + Rocket mainer i can confirm that i do 3 coin flips, 1 for keeping distance or joining the phight, another 1 for healing or not healing teammates at all and another one for being good at my job or being a total garbage at my job, most of the times i am 100% useless until i use my Phinisher and i play a rhythm game while phighting :3.

I think as a Katana main it's fun to use him because of his massive damage output when used correctly and overall strength. I think when used to protect your teammates it can really slow down the other team so that they struggle to aggressively attack.
Big mistake people do as Katana is either: use their ult at low health, not abusing elevation to bully people's hitboxes, and using m2 at the right time. (If you use m2 first, it applies a few stacks of looming misfortune and makes them boom which does like zero damage, but if you do a 5 m1 combo and then m2 it does a ton of damage)

Medkit and Subspace main here... So! While playing Medkit it actually also depends on a team (same goes to any phighter but still) and yea, we neither try to heal and kill at the same time or we suck bc of something, like mood maybe, not sure.
About Subspace... Well, try to use your mist ability and go to red/blue team when they are all together and you got yoyr phinisher ready. Also with or without your teammates you can die anyway. Also, can be monsters when we know how to play as him!!
(Also reason why i may main them is bc i feel like we may share something and/or uhhh... Maybe bc i just like 'em)

idk why but in some rounds i could be absolutely cracked at healing while also getting good kills, even if my team is losing (1000+ healing). then the round after that i suddenly suck ass at healing, like barely 200. speaking as a medkit main i have no consistency, so this video is very accurate.

so after months of speculation, yes, shuriken exists and i have discovered:
every ban hammer hates me if i play sword
every shuriken hates me if i play subspace
as a medkit main yes it sucks to have one really good match then someone who is new to the game gets medkit and your team just dies because unlike most characters medkit does not get many easy kills and they dont hit headshots to heal
even though i like meds design i never even liked playing him from the start ;_;

As a katana main here are some tips to not die to him. 1 be unpredictable, being unpredictable can be your saviour sometimes, you should be cautious sometimes though, this sometimes doesn’t work. 2 try not to charge or attack a katana while it is at full health and shield, this is the worst idea you can ever do once you are in attacking range, you are practically a sitting duck and you may instantly die if you don’t have any evasive move. 3 try to attack in groups of 3 or 4, as dumb as this might seem, it has actually killed me a few times with many people swarming me, katanas like to target single players, not groups of them, so going in groups to attack him will overwhelm the katana and make it hard for him to fight you, though if they are really, really skilled, keep your distance away from zed katana and do not approach it, and wait for that key time when the katana is low
