Harvesting Filberts or Hazelnuts - a tree nut full of flavor, nutrients, and beauty

  • In late August, the first filberts/hazelnuts start to ripen at full maturity, with September being the peak tie for harvesting. Hazelnut trees are the same as filbert trees. Both squirrels and birds like steller jays love to eat these, often picking them just before they are fully ripe. In this video, Andy is going to show how he harvests them and give a couple up close shots of how to pick, drop, or get these amazing nuts.
