    i wish more dog owners are like you!! its so refreshing to see an owner actually taking control and putting in the work and having rules and boundaries with your puppy. im not suprised haha i work in a pet store in australia (i'm also a puppy school instructor) and people have no clue what breed they bought and what it was designed etc etc etc

      Omg yes. I did MAJOR research before going into this. I want to make sure my puppy is happy and safe for both of our sanity. Too many dog Owens getting dogs simply because their cute & that makes life a living hell for everyone.

    The fact that you don't need even half of this really surprises me how much new puppy parents will get all of this and half of it won't even be used

      Hi. My baby just turned 3 and all of it was used and I still ended up by more things throughout the years. You are free to buy whatever you need for your own puppy just as I did with mine. Have a great day!

    I have watched dozens/maybe hundreds of puppy haul videos. This is the best and most informative one hands down. Plus you're funny too! Thank you so much for the info. It's obvious your pup is going to be well loved and well cared for!

    • @DaljiImara
      @DaljiImara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yay that makes me so happy. I was in the same position when trying to figure out what to get for my puppy. None of the videos I watched were super informative. So I made sure to make a video that was very informative, instead just “look at all of this stuff I bought my puppy”

      @@DaljiImara I'm back re-watching this video. It's my favorite! I found a Shiba Inu sheltie mix abandoned and I took her home. Haven't had a puppy in 20 years and this video has helped me so much! I subbed because you're just awesome!
      Also, I bought the Diggs crate because of this video!

    So far on my Amazon list, for my future puppy. (Not for another few years probably.) It’s added up to almost 800$. Plus more adding food supplies, etc, every few/3 months for usual stuff, I’ve did the math. Other supplies like bathing stuff, I’ll get when the first stuff is almost out. I’m 13 and am saving up the money fully by myself, I’m planning to take full responsibility. I’ll be prepared for vet bills aswell.
    Planning to get a male golden retriever.
    I plan on naming him Skipper after a past dog.
    I originally wanted a corgi, but my plans for what I want a dog for changed. I want a disc dog, swimming dog/adventure dog, easy to train/eager to please, but 100% family friendly content dog. I just didn’t think a corgi would be good for that, especially the disc part cause there spine.

      Yeah I'm saving for my future dog too. I'm 18 and I'm going to have to wait till I move out cause my mom is adamant about having no responsibility for taking care of my dog 😂. I'm gonna name mine Andy

      @@taylorsanders8742 Its worth the wait! My mom ended up surprising me with a Australian Cattle Dog mix puppy, for my 14th birthday. His name is Loki! It’s definitely worth it. Just beware of the puppy teething😩. Best thing I bought was puppy benebones! Literal lifesaver!

    Number 1, you made some awesome points in your video. Too many to name.
    Number 2, as a groomer who owns and grooms standard poodles on the daily, I highly recommend getting a slicker brush and a metal comb. The miracle coat small slicker brush would be perfect for your baby. Always brush with the slicker brush and then follow that up with the comb. If you can get the comb through the hair from root to tip, you’re doing a great job with brushing, and your groomer will thank you!! Congratulations on your new baby!!

    I'm getting a standard poodle and I've spent 900 dollars on supplies so far... I already had a crate, pen, and gates from my other doggos luckily! His name is Carlito and I am getting him in June, he will be my 3rd service dog. I can't wait to start bonding and training with him!
    Some tips: You should have 4 kongs per dog so you can fill it with their meals. When my 2nd service dog was a puppy, I mixed his food with water and put it in a kong and froze it. I always put a straw inside of it because the tiny hole in the kong stops it from creating suction and sucking your dogs tongue in, if the hole is blocked with ice, it could be dangerous. Kitchi was 6 months old when we adopted him and he was a bit shorter than our full grown male boxer, we could not find a crate big enough for him so we used a playpen instead. He was fed from the kongs which helped with separation anxiety and it was a fun game for him! He is almost 6 and I spoon feed him now. He will not eat out of bowls, slow feeder bowls, plates, mats, or anything else. He is a 70 pound, 24in tall Rhodesian Ridgeback mix... I use a Japanese soup spoon when I feed him, he eats very slowly so it takes about 30 minutes per meal to feed him, but it's worth it!

    Hi. Please don't tether your puppy to the car seat by his collar. Sudden hard stops or any other accident could result in strangulation or a broken neck. Those carseats/ safety restraints are made for harness use only. PetSmart has training classes and the purpose of classes can be more than training. It gives the dog a chance to see other people and other dogs in a more controlled setting. This gives your dog an opportunity to develop a sense of feeling calm around other dogs, not threatened. It also lets the dog get socialized to sounds and people. Attending formal training establishes a dedicated hour for training where distractions are present. So puppy isn't just "learning" at home in a quiet, ideal setting, where he may feel he is playing a game with mom. This setting shows puppy, even though other dogs are here, my job is to focus on mom and listen to mom. There are options for various training levels, so you can pick a level that matches where you are now in your training.

    • @DaljiImara
      @DaljiImara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for you input. Until he is fully vaccinated he will not be going to a pet smart or around other dogs I don’t know. I did the necessary research on the best way to train him. It’s best to start at home with minimum distractions then work our way up to public environments. I don’t plan on never training him outside my home. This is a process

    For those in the comments who want to give their puppy everything and have been watching these videos like hawks, like this lovely lady (as a pet sitter who has seen HORRORS thank you for being a responsible owner) but don't have the exact amount of money or family support, goodwill and YOUR COMMUNITY is your best friend (except for select items).
    I am getting a poodle for service dog work later and altogether I'll be spending about 15k on my own on just training, grooming, and vet which isn't a problem, I just gotta pinch more 🤣. Asking my community and going around to goodwill, I've gotten so many essentials (including grooming, training, proper toys and supplements, EVERYTHING). and haven't spent more than $100-150, and will probably not need to spend more than 200 on the rest.

    • @breadbun7077
      @breadbun7077 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I've also been told I'm doing too much!! For my dog by getting all these things. Like what?? Don't you get all your essentials for your infant? It's the same thing with a dog! You can't just get a puppy and put it outside and not care about it, you gotta get everything you NEED and in my opinion there is no such thing as too much

      Hey thanks for the feedback. Harness isn’t the best Leah’s when it comes to training. You don’t have control over your dog and they are able to pull more. The slip lead has been best leash for walking and training. Any leash can be harmful when not used properly
