I don't use a straight razor -- in fact, I don't use any razor at all. I trim my beard with scissors. But after watching this video I was all over Koraat's website, trying to justify buying one of these beautiful things.. I've got a five year old grandson myself. Perhaps I should buy one for him? They'll be unaffordable or unobtainanle by the time he's old enough to buy his own.
I love your channel. I'm just a Teen but your channel helped me out so much when I was learning the ropes. And even now, I still learn something new every time I watch your videos.
Dr. Matt, I like your videos because they are informative. You always have a smile and you really enjoy sharing and illustrating honing and shaving techniques. I have just under a year in straight shaving and use films to successfully hone my razors. Please keep making these videos. Peace. Sincerely, Joe Tringone
Doc Matt, thank you so much for taking the time to show us the various processes. Thanks to your coticule video I was finally able to get that stone to produce a remarkable edge. I also appreciate how you show how different company's stones can play well together. I think I need to buy me a Koraat as a retirement gift!
I’ve been trying to hone my straight razor for years, after watching your videos and getting the right tools, now I enjoy the beauty of a tradicional wet shave with my straight razor.
I have two and I didn’t realize when I got them they are honed using tape. When I contacted them and they told me I reset the bevel and rehoned the blades without tape. Great shavers.
Ive just started shaving with a straight razors your videos are great because I learn how to use it better and reduce the amount of nicks and cuts keep doing what you do 👍🏼
I always watch your videos when the weather is bad here in Koh Lanta...your videos always makes me happy again..and a new soap from Alexandria in the mailbox would be wow...👍
Bob - i laughed when I saw that. It’s beyond yogurt Bob, it’s now soft serve! 😆... and it is easy. All you have to do is ruin a razor or two and you’ll get it down quick!

All right so when honing we go hard and then light on the first two stones in the progression, and then very light on the last two stones. And then on the very last stone spine first and only 6 to 8 passes.

Nice video and nice cut on right cheek. Some time ago i cut myself pretty badly on cheek. I went to pharmacy and they recommended me Scar Esthetique creme. I bought little 4 gram tube. The wound healed perfectly. Since then i cut myself 2 time, simmilar cut like you, I used the creme again and again everything healed well. So I guess it works. I don't know if they sell it in US, but I think they do since it is made in US.

If you have a thick, dense beard and tough skin, hyper sharp is probably fine. If you’re skin is more sensitive and/or delicate, it might not be so good.
