Red Sox fan here coming in peace. Is it the fan bases consensus that this is “Sale for Moncada + Kopech 2.0” or are you excited with the prospects this time around? As a close follower of my Sox, I can tell you Teel’s bat is legit and major league ready.
I still think Sale for Moncada + Kopech was a fair trade for the white sox. The problem is that both of those players needed a little more development (as prospects generally do) and the white sox failed to provide the resources that those players needed to reach their potential. We saw what Kopech is capable of when he went to the dodgers last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Moncada has a very good year with a different organization in 2025. The talent is still there.
What more can be said about this team and organization. I honestly have not seen a game since they went to playoffs and laid an egg. I’m better for it because now I don’t care about this team. Which is a shame because I grew up with Maglio and Carlos Lee and Paul konerko. Good times. Maybe things will turn around once Jerry passes. I can only hope.
I sure hope this accelerates the rebuild and the Sox bring in some good veterans to jump start back into contention, because I can’t go through another long extensive rebuild that yields absolutely nothing when they refuse to spend on the star players to complement the youth. Until Reinsdorf opens his wallet, this team will go nowhere ever. Tired of these Sox execs using a long rebuild as job security just for the team to do nothing. I’m also not reading into anything about Getz looking into Sasaki because I know they aren’t going to land him because of the state of the team and he’s most likely going to a contender.
Nobody's giving up prospects that good for a guy that hasn't thrown 250 innings over the last 5 years and is about to get a massive contract. It's impressive they got 2 top 50 prospects and 2 other future major league contributors for Crochet. This is nothing like a Sale situation where he was a highly proven pitcher on a team friendly 4 year deal at the time.
Teel and Montgomery are both A tier prospects, this is a good return. Mayer also has a long injury history for a guy who hasn’t even made it to the big leagues yet, we dodged a bullet with him.
Typical sexy sox move for the owners. They trade 4 top prospects away for a pitcher who has had 1 good season in 3 years, injury prone and the bedt part of this is that the sox will let him pitch for 2 years then let him walk and not resign him. So it was worth giving up 4 top prospects for a pitcher who quit on his team last year and after the all star break he had 12 starts and was 0-5 with a 5 sub era. Sox prove again they dont want to spend and are cheap so they get trade talent away for a sp to give you 2 years of who knows just to never re-sign him! Morons!
Crochet should've been shut down after the all-star break. He's only in his mid 20s and had thrown 79 innings from 2020-2023. The White Sox really had no business sending him out there for 150 innings last year.
@bryanbernard1846 Again, that was after he already threw 100 innings. He threw 79 innings as a reliever as a pro (minors or majors) his first 4 seasons. Any other team would've shut him down already. Your take here comes with zero context.

Wsox are dreamsellers. 3 rebuilds in 8 years
Honestly, we have to be excited. It's our only hope.

Yeah, this was a nice return, but it ain't worth anything if they sign Nomar Mazara and some bullpen arms to compliment these guys when they're ready.
Were Mayer Anthony and Campbell discussed because that's Bostons best three prospects. They won the trade.

@@joeraguso5376Crochet is not Sale 2.0 at least not yet

@joeraguso5376 stay bitter..he's about to dominant for the sox

@ 0-5 after allstar break with era high in the 5s
