Great video at Aberdeen Ross. Nice to catch the Caledonian Sleeper and few ScotRail HSTs. I was surprise CrossCountry voyager didn't turn up at Aberdeen unless that terminate at Edinburgh Waverley. Have a nice weekend and stay safe
During this period, only one CrossCountry service operated from Aberdeen and it was sourced by a Voyager which ran empty from Edinburgh in the early morning. You can see this specific service returning in my Prestonpans video. Hope you had a great weekend too. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻
HSTs a plenty ENC! I was also hoping for a Colas 70 too but it was not to be. I love the shot of the three HSTs next to each other, very Paddington esk.
Wow, there should be a noise competition class 43 VS class 73. Tight competition to say the least. Anyway, stunning evening session from Aberdeen also nice movements into Aberdeen Depot :-)
Many thanks Ricky. 😃👍🏻 The new engines on the 73s sure are loud so they get my vote! I really liked this station and it was quite a challenge to film too since online signalling maps do not cover this region, all my footage was like-of-sight.
Some de-branded CrossCountry powercars are now used by Colas Rail on Network Rail test trains but the pool of use for these machines has significantly reduced since 2019. Only really at the extremes (Penzance and Aberdeen) can a lot of them be seen. In this video I really loved the view of the three together - Very Paddington-esk.
Quite a unique location, probably the place with the highest ratio of 'bay platforms' to through lines, if you can call them that - almost a terminus but not quite
Potentially yeah, although I may need to revise the term 'bay platform' for those ones haha@@anoniaino I guess also places like Kings Cross in the past with the old widened lines and what not... they make for good trainspotting anyhow
Aberdeen is also unique (to my knowledge) by referring to through lines as 7N and 7S for North and South. Not all the bays are used either, the two the 158s came out of is a siding. Thanks for watching.
I believe it was moved to the bay but then ScotRail decided that it was instead to form a service so it eneded up going back to where it came from! I should have named this video 'Montage of 158712 at Aberdeen'! 🤣
@Trainzat they aren't. 2030 at earliest and even that's not certain. No way are TS paying two leases for one fleet (i.e. retiring the HSTs, obtaining another suitable fleet but still being required by contract to pay the HST lease to 2030) with revenues still the lowest of all the Train Operating Companies. There's also very much a lack of suitable alternatives presently. 222s were explored, among other options, but the lease was deemed too expensive.
Thanks for the information Hexagon! I would also add that TS has always wanted for intercity style trains for this route so it’s unlikely they want to backpedal to 170s without a really really important reason. Safety may well draw them some conclusions especially as there have been many damaged sets since introduction (43129 as shown in this video had a collision with a tree a few weeks ago!) 222s or new AT300s is my bet.
I do love watching trains especially in Scotland. Thanks for sharing ❤
Me too
Thank you Alison! For an evening video I really did enjoy filming this one even if it got a little chilly when the sun went down! 🤣👍🏻

I swear Aberdeen is a haven for HST’s and 158s 😂😂😂😂
Another amazing scottish based video.
Could you make a heritage trains compilation video? Im sure alot of people would enjoy that!
Still got a few more from Scotland too! I will consider it definitely. 😃
I used live in Aberdeen
I really liked your city, I even got chance to visit the lighthouse too 😃👍🏻
@@StarlifeStudios oh nice
This is great, nice to see Scotland again! 😎
Two more videos from Scotland still to come! 😃
Amazing video as always Ross! Lots of HSTs! 👍

Thank you for the kind words! Some say you are a Legend too 😃
❤ thanks!!!@@StarlifeStudios
12:21 can you control the Cally Sleeper trains from the back like a mock-DVT but only low speeds?
No, it's a propelling movement. The shunter has a radio, as does the driver, and they instruct them when to brake etc.
@@JohnSmith-zx3ch thanks mate fair enough makes sense
Great Trainspotting Ross! What was so amazing of Aberdeen?
Two things: The sheer amount of HSTs in 2023 and the depot being next door. The staff were great as well. 😃👍🏻 Thanks Filip.

33:25 I love that train, class 800. One of my favourites.
The 800s have grown on me, they look and sound the part but I'm still yet to be convinced they're better than what they replaced. Thanks Rhys 😃
I love these videos when they are in Scotland because its the best country
I completely agree. I love Scotland, its a fantastic country. 😃
Great work! I was thinking of doing a video there as well, but how do you get past the ticket barriers??
Just ask
If you ask and be kind, the staff will allow you through. I have had much worse stations believe me! Have fun 👍🏻
Ok, thanks guys.

Oh wait 8/6/23 ok since your in Scotland Carnoustie is quite close yet see a colas class 70 there there quite common and quite great
One of my favourite staitions, Nice!
Mine too! I have been to Aberdeen before but not to film. I'm glad the weather was on my side too 🤣
Great video with loads of HST's! How do you make your titles for information on the trains?
Good vid😊
Aberdeen is a very nice city. My Dad likes Aberdeen and he’s been there several times as my Dad comes from Scotland.
Brilliant! Could you do Preston next?
Preston is on my list for this year! 👍 Thanks MG trains.
