You don’t need a Van to do that in life. Lived my whole life in regular houses and apartments and I also do my grocery shopping planning for the week. Don’t really understand why people get so amused by these things...

Jajaja I got locked out of my old airstream also the same kind of lock! I just love this! My refrigerator and stove were old also! They made good appliances in the old days! The counter tops gave me an idea!
It looked like it had a toilet in the corner of the shower, there were towels or something on top. I have been in 70s era cab over campers like this and a toilet in the shower/wetroom was standard.
Cool, funky place they created. Looks like it would be really cozy/homey, especially if it got cold. And of course you can’t beat how great it feels to be able to save on rent/mortgage payments. And to just work when you want!

Our bus conversion is wrapping up nicely. We've lived in it for a few days in the driveway as a test and haven't been inconvenienced. The house has so much stuff we just don't need... The things you own, own you.
I have a similar van with rusty locks just like yours. Use rust remover solution and toothbrushes. Don't be afraid to saturate it with water to clean out solution but be sure to dry with hair dryer to get rid of al moisture. Spray WD40 into crevices. Clean and sand the surface and spray or paint using Rustoleum. Be sure to make extra keys. Love your modest rebuild.

Wonderful wonderful. Love the van the interior is lovely homely so much better nicer than most homes. I didn't notice a toilet but a porta potty in the shower would do fine for me anyways. ha ha. Never sell it, it's lasted 40 years may last another 40 years. Thanks just listening to you two is therapy

I love your van! We were caravanners, with two classic vans. The older one was a complete wreck when we found it, with dexion shelving for car spares, and delaminated ply wood. My husband stripped it and built a beautiful van. We rallied with this van for around thirteen years, until last year when my husband became gravely ill. I sold the vans, with regret, but the 1965 one will still be displayed at rallies once this lockdown ends. However, this van had an end door, and we were given a piece of awning rail, which my husband fitted, we bought an awning, which had to be adapted. This greatly enlarged our living area, and was easy to access. I see that your awning rail is on the side, and that you rarely use it, so would there be mileage in installing a rail over your back door? Best wishes from Susan.
