If you're going to be lifting in that one spot pretty regularly, I'd highly recommend making a Boom-and-Mast set up. Not only do you get the lift, but you can get some rotation as well. Plus, they are just tremendously fun to use!
I often use poles cut in the woods for sheer legs to lift/move logs to load on trailers. Normally the apex is chained together and the bottom of the legs have a chain or strap to keep them from spreading.

The "grabbers" are called log tongs!

Log hook for grabbing and lifting logs.
I'm winter hand logging, so this is a great way for me to get big logs on my sled. Thanks for the tip.
