“Dear ladies and gentleman, I’m China Tracy-the avatar of Cao Fei-and I’m her interpreter.” Cao Fei’s digital “Second Life” alter ego acts as the English translator for the Chinese-speaking artist throughout the segment, guiding the viewer through seven multimedia projects.

Cao Fei's art explores the intersection of culture and daily life, particularly within the supressed environment of China [or behind the traditional values of Chinese People]. Her work reveals the hidden passions and dreams that people often abandon in the face of rapid development and the demands of sustaining their livelihoods. Her series or work remind the audience to rethink how much development in the society brings us but also taken away from us. I hope this help to understand her work a little bit more.
