      It probably is mostly because of their shared trauma but I'll also say as an older sister with much younger siblings, I look at mine the same way. They're my babies even though they're (most of them) almost 20.

    I found Ammon in X, he could use a boost in his "followers" numbers to bring visibility to his book and to their story! I love how resilient Ammon and Rachel are (and their families too), and how they are sharing their strength and faith with the rest of the world now. And thanks Jeremy & Melissa for giving them the gift of this interview!

    Fascinating story. Good to see Rachel back as well. It is hard to believe that this kind of thing could happen in this modern day and age. Cults are obviously still a thing. So many similarities to Waco and David Koresh. So happy they got out and are enjoying real life now. God Bless.

    • @daphcameron6534
      @daphcameron6534 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      'This kind of thing' happens far more often then you would imagine & not only within cults but in so called 'good families' where childrens lives are affected ... do you not realise that sex trafficking is also one of our 'modern worlds' biggest crimes & that is because there are so many 'good men & women' willing to pay for child sex or fix their cravings to abuse. I think bringing what really happens in many cults into the open is a good thing but people need to realise its not only cults that do these things

    • @actmrhata5079
      @actmrhata5079 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think people DO realize that. But the problem with cults like LDS and JW is that they create communities that they are then threatened with losing if they question or leave.

    Wow! That was an amazing interview. I am blown away by Ammon and Rachael's story and for everything they went through in their lives. Their faith in all things "good" helped them endure through so much of the lies indoctrinated into them from such a young age and the confusion pain and heartache that kept them from the truth. Such beautiful kind sweet souls who were able to find the courage within themselves to pull away from darkness and take back their free agency to live in true happiness, peace, harmony and love. Much love to them both and their families from the otherside of the world down under (here in the southern hemisphere). Thank you Melissa and Jeremy for your insightful podcasts. i’m so curious how they got the accents/dialects they have. a lot of my family is Appalachian and we also say “sut’em” for something and “crick” for creek. but they were born and raised in the Utah area, so i am curious who in their family/community passed down that dialect. i’ve listened to interviews with other FLDS survivors and though many of them have a twang, it doesn’t sound quite like theirs. not that any of this is remotely important but it’s very cool to me for whatever reason lol. Yes, in hindsight a lot could have been done differently, however, they make it sound like the FLDS were so cooperative, when in fact the mothers and older children were giving false names and ages and instructing the younger children to not cooperate. They were put in a position that they had to separate them to try to get to the truth. It is very probable that he was not even aware of this. He is still learning so much. I am very happy for both of them, that they were able to get out and begin to truly live their lives. The joy in is face at the end is wonderful to see!

    • @alexsandraknox9852
      @alexsandraknox9852 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, I've read a LOT of different books from people who have left the FLDS, and in my opinion, Rachel and Ammon kinda have a skewed view of the 2008 raid. Probably because she was still in the cult at the time and he actually lived through it. I do think Texas could have made some better choices at the time but hindsight of course is 20/20. I have mixed thoughts about that whole situation, but in Rachel's book that section was the only part I had kind of an... eww reaction to how she portrayed it. I'm glad they are both out and speaking out about their experiences though.

    After watching the interview on Sam and Melissa’ s channel with a CPS worker who was at the raid one of the most sad things was realizing the social workers didn’t have a true scope of the situation and them realizing the children didn’t have proper verbiage for even their own body parts or their lack of the most basic sex education the women are children didn’t have.

    We were here in the Texas Hill Country when CPS pulled the children at the compound by San Angelo....my good friend was "helping" CPS sort through the horrific mess left by Mr. Jeffs. I have wondered over the years what happened to the vulnerable families, and it is stunning how a person behind bars has had dictatorial power over these innocents even this many years later.

    I think the most important thing for people to relize out of all of this is..... That Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father (GOD), but by me." John 14:6. NO where does it say pray to Warren Jeffs!

    Warren talking about murder and drugs so much is a red flag. I still have family in the flds, and am terrified they're going to have some kind of Jonestown event.

    CPS dropped the ball completely, and didn't know how to handle such a thing, I will say that, but law enforcement in our state (Texas) was going by reports they had received of a girl being held against her will in the compound, so naturally they had to investigate. Warren Jeffs brothers as well as Merrill Jessop wouldn't allow them into the compound to look for the girl, so that's why they busted in. Yes, it was a false call, and the caller actually should've served time for it, but let's not kid ourselves. Warren Jeffs, his brothers & cronies had been doing the EXACT same thing to families & children way before. They were seperating families, kicking young boys out, dropping them off on deserted highways and telling them never to contact their families again, as well as having those awful, hideous, abusive sister-wives beating the kids, starving them, locking them in closets, etc. The media then showed these same monsters weeping like innocent "mothers" and they were anything, but. Some of the women shown weren't even mothers and were acting for the cameras. Those kids were so brainwashed, abused and trained to hate the outside world that when the authorities really did come knocking, they were caught way off guard! It's just ridiculous to blame CPS and the Texas authorities for the raid when Warren was doing the exact same thing, AND having sex with kids as well as a long list of other atrocities too many to name.

      100% agree with you. I do think the state shit the bed on the 2008 raid in general with how they handled it. BUT, I can recognize that they didn't understand the huge number of children on the compound when they began the undertaking of the initial search for Sarah. Hindsight is 20/20 but ultimately I think the situation did help since so many men got in legal trouble because of it in the end. That made it clear that they do have to answer to the law.
