Whenever I watch these videos I imagine him as a lone survivor in a post apocalyptic world reverting back to the ways of old to survive. I love these type of videos.

That sort of camping brings back a lot of memories for me from about the age of ten about 1958 ish my mates and I would camp down by the creek about a mile or so from my house 2 old army blankets a billy some tea a fishing rod and reel and a bit of tucker and some snares and an old enamel mug very basic but we loved it .

Now, that's really different. Simple kit, useful and practical. No, gimmicky toys or redundant items. Looks like something out of the early 1900s. People today always go for the flashiest and expensive. Canvas and leather.

I have just downloaded the audiobook of "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau. It is 14 hours long, and so I will listen to about 2 hours a night for about the next week.
He built a cabin on his friend Ralph Waldo Emerson's land at Concord, Massachusetts, and wrote about his life there in 19th Century America, living as an early pioneer! Even at that time, he was considered an oddity, because he eschewed modern life in favor of a more traditional mode of living.

My Grandfather, if he were still alive would be over would be over 130. He told me of the old swaggies as well as his life growing up. He was born in 1904 and I loved hearing his stories. I'm now in my 60s and work in Aged care and one of my old mates(never clients) reached 100 years old and often told me of his life from ploughing fields with drought horses at 16 to having the swaggies coming through and looking for work or a feed and were happy to do a days work for a meal and a place to sleep under cover. Old Col was always amazed that so many were educated, there were Lawyers and Accountants among them. I love working with our oldies they are a window into the past and with the way the world is going they are perhaps a window into the future.

I can't believe I've been subscribed for months & have had no notifications. Seems you haven't made one for a while.(8 months, I see).
Reminds me of way back in the 1970's when we used to go hunting for a week or so as young fellas.
The old can of baked beans, or spaghetti with a pierced top to let the hot air out, a billy can. etc.
Always had the T/Paper though. Gotta have a few home comforts. Please make e few more videos. Vic. Country,. Aust.

It would be, thanks for being and yourself and stoked you filming again. I really appreciate it 🙌🏼. I’d be looking for new videos of yours, even if I wasn’t in isolation😂🤪🤪

Just stumbled across your vids. Thanks for sharing your bush craft skills. I have always been fascinated by swagman. My dad used to drove cattle many moons ago. He learnt many skills off his mentor, a much older farmer who sadly has passed. I have just ordered a haversack and canvas bag off swagman. I love oil skin, I have a few coats that I use for hunting in the high country. You’ve just made me realise my camping setup is way too complicated for my bike. Safe travels 👍

I also believe simple is always best. I have gone back to simple straight forward kit myself with a few modern convenience as well.

Welcome back. Missed your videos a lot.
I'm not a bushcraft person, more of a comfort camper I guess. But I find all of your vids immensely interesting, and you obviously know your stuff.

Very interesting to watch. Love to fact that you constantly ( time consuming for you..but great for us) change the camera angles. 💪 Great dog companion too.
