I'm a year into a software dev apprenticeship and although I am doing what I need to do to pass the course I have felt a bit lost and overwhelmed with all the information I have received. This video has helped me clarify so much. Development is so much more than just coding and I'm finally understanding what the gap in my knowledge is and what I need to focus on to become a better programmer. Thankyou, I really appreciate this video.
It's a decent video already from an educational point of view, but the consistency of the political satire in the background is just a masterpiece on its own
Such an amazing presentation and the twist at the end! I've been your subscriber since the time I discovered that outstanding time-complexity series. I appreciate the diverse content across this channel and I'm glad to see you provide these quality lectures on a topic of this kind. Thank you very much :)
You're welcome. Learning to program is like learning music - you need to do lots of practice. Picking up another language is like picking up a different instrument. I start kids on Scratch which is a fantastic introduction to the concepts. scratch.mit.edu/ I like your channel, you have a great personality. I look forward to watching it grow. :)KD
When you solve a problem (any problem) you can use some or all of the techniques in any order. These are not rules, just names for things that we do. However, typically you would start with decomposition and abstraction. Algorithms then follow, which include logic (looping and branching). All the while you are looking for ways to avoid reinventing the wheel (pattern recognition). But software development is usually an agile, iterative process. In other words, you might go through some or all of the techniques several times. :)KD

That's lovely to hear. Thanks for saying so :)KD
A programmer's wife sent him a text: "While you're out, get milk." And she never saw him again.
I feel sorry for that poor kid who came home from school one day to find his parents had moved house.
Took me a while, but I got it in the end - must be getting old!
True story.
I don’t get it
@@dwilliams42170he didn't find milk yet

Too good 🤣🚼🙌🏾
Thank you :)KD
Is it a Re-upload ?
I changed Dominic Cummings at the end for someone else - otherwise the same :)KD
How do I know which techniques to use / and in what order to use them in? Is there a flowchart that shows you which technique to use?
