FYI ... in Australia "the Jack" means VD... Gonorrhea... 😳😱
Pretty creative of them to make it sound like a game of cards ... but what a horrible topic!

I freakin love this song! It's gotta be loud and all of my manners go out the window! That's some crunchy bass and some bluesy guitar and I honestly don't mind which lyrics get played cause I know what he's talking about.

  • @Road_Rash

You think this one's bluesy? Wait until you get to Ride On...I'd put that one pretty high in the running for best blues song ever right behind Tin Pan Alley...Angus is a blues master...everything he plays is blues...when you get right down to it, AC/DC are a really edgy blues band...

Another brilliantly and witty written song ! I was around 9 years old when ACDC came on the scene here in Australia, and from the first time I heard them I was addicted. So, I was very lucky to grow with them and watch them become megastars. I have all of their 13 albums, and they are without a doubt, my all-time favorite band. I Just love to watch their WOW ! reaction and the instant smile and nodding of the head to the beat of their music, that these people on these reaction channels experience. It is testament to their incredible raw talent, and showmanship.

You are soooooo spot on in your analysis BizMatik!!!!!! When Bonn and the lads wrote this song in the early 70’s they had to be careful with words with the censors to get radio play. You had to read between the lines!!!! When he passed and Brian took over in 1980 things starting loosening up in society and talking about STD’s became easier to talk about hence them changing the lyrics to make much more specific descriptions of exactly what the “Jack” is!!!!! Hence the River Plates lyrics. Sad but true. Another great reaction hombre!!!! Thanks for this. 😍 So says Stephen in Austin Texas!!!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸😍😍😍🥳🥳😎🍸

It's hilarious to see your reaction to the REAL lyrics while reading the "sterilised" lyrics. Correct. Bon Scott did not write ALL the lyrics but the clever lyrics, as in this song, he had a MAJOR input. He was that kind of a guy. I grew up in Fremantle in the 1960's (Bon lived in North Fremantle and for a short time was a "postie" for the Post Qffice or PMG.) and there was a definite "rough element" (More commonly known as "bogs". Today's "bogans". ) that had various ways of experiencing life's more, shall we say, "intimate" moments. Excellent lyrics! Cracks me up!

Aussie's, you always know when an Aussie is around & their usually loud & super tight w/ their mates. I live in a mountain town & there were a lot of Aussie's here in the winter when I first moved here. They're definitely a different breed, they all rip on each other constantly, like they learned it from birth. They would drink hard every night , but show up to work on time & work harder than us Americans, while puking behind the lift shack.

The Band writes the songs, usually Malcolm comes up with a riff, (or Angus) then he takes it to Angus, and they come up with melody ideas and some lyrics or the name of the song for the lyricist like Bon or Dave or Brian to sing. Bon has that evil edge in his voice that gave them their early rise to fame. RIDE ON>LONG WAY TO THE TOP> HIGHWAY TO HELL> ROCKER>DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP are all great Bon Scott songs. The Lyrics in concert vary.

I was told that this was the publicly acceptable version of The Jack. The 70s had a lot of Christian groups that scrutinized Rock & Roll songs on the radio. The other version had the lyrics for live shows. AC/DC responds to the judgement more and more by writing songs directly invoking Hell and The Devil. The kids loved rebellion!

She shrugged, huh, I've never had a full house. THEN she says she's never had a royal flush before. That's when he knew. (the hardest hand to get, and you don't get them by accident) But, she liked him. . . so she gave him the Jack that he needed. A smirk and a wink from a card shark, if you will. Great story, great song.

Bon did write most of the lyrics that were tagged young young and scott. the only time mal and angus wrote lyrics was can I sit next to you girl and soul stripper I think apart from giving Bon the odd word when he couldn't think of one. listen to any album after back in black which a lot of people said Bon contributed to, and you can tell what the young brothers wrote lyrically because they are very average. great music but crap lyrics.

It’s best to watch for guidance in the comments on live vs studio. Live is by far the “must do” on this one.

See and this is my point vs Bon and Brian.....Brian can't do this kind of stuff....he's a screamer....Bon has the full or had the full skills to shine.

I'm curious if the people booing at the end of the song was real or part of the song itself.
