    But what is the best magical enchantment for a water bottle? Is it more suited for one or two handed use? Where is the point of balance and center of percussion? Is it resistant to cuts or thrusts? What is the optimal capacity to weight ratio in a zombie apocalypse scenario? There are so many questions left unanswered!

    This is an excellent bottle, the seal is good enough to keep carbonated beverages fizzy, and will keep ice cubes even in a hot car all day. Unfortunately, I've had 2 of them and both lost their insulating ability over time. My only guess is that the vacuum chamber leaks, so no longer vacuum insulation. After that you immediately feel the outside surface cold and moisture condensing on the surface. Ice will be gone in an hour.

    For hot drinks, the Zojirushi bottle (also on Amazon) is worth every penny. It's extremely expensive, but it lives up to the cost; it insulates so well that coffee poured into it at 7:30 am is still hot at 4:30 pm, and its lock is so good that it never leaks in a bag, no matter how much it's tossed around. It disassembles for easy cleaning up top, stainless steel lining, etc. (No, I'm not an employee of Zojirushi, I just went through a lot of coffee mugs trying to find one I could toss in my messenger bag without worrying about leaks.)

Thanks for doing this review. Coleman makes the classic sensible-level camp & hike gear. Their slogan could very well be: "You could pay more for stuff, but competent people don't need to."
    700ml is one of those perfect sizes... after getting started for the camping/hiking day with a small cup's worth out of a 750ml bottle of something, the rest will fit neatly in this thermos for later :)

    Great vid Skall, I think you could've definitely done better though, you didn't mention how much the bottle weighed or compared it to any of your other non-plastic bottles directly. If the bottle altered the taste of the water at all compared to glass, so on. Coleman could do better by including a glass slit that shows how much of the contents are left in the bottle, especially for that price..
    I live in the UK so bottles with that many nooks and crannies on the cap are notorious for breeding mold that is difficult to clean off, it's not just about cleaning the mouth piece. Which is why I currently have an all glass bottle with a plastic screw on cap, nice and fast to clean, solid glass is sturdy for normal everyday use and you can see the contents/how much water is left, doesn't leak even in a bag because the threading is well mad and long. Obviously glass doesn't alter the water's taste, which is a big thing for me personally. Only drawback is that it probably weighs a lot more than this Coleman.
    However it does cost a tenth of the price and fits a lot better in an office space.

    I've had a mighty mug forever and it's great. It doesn't get knocked over when I hit it accidentally, and it can be closed so when I am clumsy and drop it, it doesn't leak. I do have minor complaints about the air and drinking holes though, as the air hole gets clogged with gunk slowly over time and the cover piece for the drinking hole also gets some gunk on it. So it works, but it needs cleaning. I do wonder if a bottle like the one in the video will also have gunk buildup on the mechanism that it has or if it's gonna be a better bottle for my purpose.

    I have a stainless steel bottle that's seen me through thick and thin. It's been across the country, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, is all dented but still indestructible. But even I'll admit, the cap sucks. For one, it just opens the whole thing up, making it easy to spill, and difficult to use while walking, to amusing results. Occasionally leaks if you don't screw it on just right. If only I could get a custom made cap for it. I've had it too long to get rid of it.

    • @tokeeptrackofrandomsubs5899
      @tokeeptrackofrandomsubs5899 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A custom fancy cap like this one would be hard, but machining a new cap should be possible by measuring the thread and diameters I guess? I've got no idea what skilled people would charge for that but you could always ask if it matters enough to you. Machining is kinda dark magic to me, I know enough that many things are possible but how to actually do it boggles my mind at times.
      And if you do want a fancy cap on it like this one, I suppose a conversion piece between bottle and cap isn't impossible either but would be even more expensive: two threads to put on it + you'd need your cap in addition to it.

    Well the cap and mouth piece still have plastic components, so technically one could worry about BPA and stuff there as well.
    But Coleman is a reputable manufacturer as far as I know and they list it as 100% BPA free on the product site which should include the cap as well. It looks like a well designed cap, I'd probably have gone for this one over the klean canteen with the twisty cafe cap thing had I known it exists but either is more than fine to transport hot drinks in my opinion (oh and just plain cold water too I guess).

      I know it’s been 3 years, but I reply for the sake of future readers at least.
      My time reading Amazon reviews tells me it depends on how well the specific one you get comes out from the factory.
      Some reviews say it lasts a whole day. Others 2-5 hours only. It depends on luck of the draw apparently. A lot of things are like this, including phone battery longevity, and durability of certain items in my experience.

    I still love my nalgene, its a 1L jar you put water in. Easy to clean, hard to break.

    But does it have an air vent?
    Probably, considering what you talked about with the flow rate

    Thanks for the review. This seems to offer everything I need in a bottle, so I just ordered the 40oz one. :)

      Do you like the 40 oz? I am trying to decide which size to get.

      @@buzzymm Same. I’m leaning 40oz bc I would rather have more water than less, when I really need it. But I am unsure what to do.

      @@vgman94 so I ended up getting a deal on amazon and bought both sizes. The big one is huge and great for long trips but will not fit in a drink holder. The smaller is great for travel as its not too cumbersome. If your out on a jobsite all day get the big one. but for my daily driver use the smaller one. they both work very well at keeping drinks cold.

      @@buzzymm are they both easy to clean? Does the size make any difference for ease of cleaning?

    • @buzzymm
      @buzzymm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vgman94 very easy, lids can go in the dish washer. You will need a long handle brush as the large one is tall. The stopper mechanism can be flipped back for cleaning.

    Let us know if the paint starts to chip or flake off the exterior, my biggest problem with metal bottles. Another good video.

      If it's like the other Coleman canteens and thermoses, it's more like an enamel than paint. Lasts for decades if it is.
