    Love how LL Cool J immediately assumes that his mom's adoptive parents had only the best of intentions changing her name...that they wanted everyone to know she's part of their family now. Beautiful sentiment.

      Thats what I told the people I know that are adopted! Out of ALL THE BABIES IN ALL THE WORLD UR PARENTS CHOSE YOU..they CHOSE YOU! You were the 1 the set eyes on & said THERES OUR SON/DAUGHTER! They took you home gave you their love support & NOT ONCE EVER not loved you! You have literally been loved since long before you were even born! THAT IS A GIFT! To be a chosen child is the gift you were given that will be a reminder for your entire life that you were ALWAYS loved, wanted & belonged!

      Not unwanted. Her adopted family wanted her. And possibly her birth mother too! It was the 40s. Having a baby out of marriage would most likely ruined her birth mother's life. She might have very much wanted to keep her baby. Her parents might have forced her to give her baby up, or she could have chosen to do so for her child to have a better life.

    It's almost better not knowing for some people.
    I spent my whole life thinking that once I found my biological family everything would make sense, only to be rejected utterly.
    Your family are the ones who love and stand by you.

    • @eclectic_savant
      @eclectic_savant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      This may not make you feel any better about learning the truth but I'm sort of the lame-wad that looks on the bright side
      I'm sorry you weren't able to connect with your biological family. So I'm sure you probably heard this a million times already, they probably didn't deserve having you as part of their lives. Don't waste yourself on the belief that you'd be better off not knowing the truth, having the belief that everything would be made perfect once you connected with those people takes a lot of energy out of a person. It can prevent you from connecting with people that love and care about you more than blood relatives ever would. Having that idea in your thoughts all the time takes away from fully living your life with the right people. Put that energy into those that you know without a doubt care about you. You get an opportunity to build your family and choose who deserves having you be there for them. Don't let the people that rejected you have any room in your life whatsoever, once you let them get you down or feeling bad about yourself, you let them win. More often than not, rejection comes from insecurity. Those horrible people were insecure because they regarded you as better than they were and they couldn't stand it. If someone can't be happy for you because of what you've done in your life, they don't deserve to be any part of your life.
      I like to say that my family are the friends that know me best and still talk to me anyway.
      Hopefully some of this helps a little bit. I just can't stand to see people doubt themselves or feel bad about who they are because of some asshole they have no control over.
      I sincerely hope that you have good people around you that support you and stand behind you and I hope that you do the same for them.

      @@donnabednarczyk786 That's my point, by being angry, you're letting miserable people that never deserved any sort of space in your heart or head win and live rent free.
      Instead of wasting energy by being angry, take that energy and put it into those you love and that love you. I may not understand the your individual feelings, but I can relate to being rejected by family. I loved my family and would have thrown myself off a cliff for them. It took one relative spreading lies for me to lose every one of them. I'm still angry, I still rant and rave about the situation, but then I come to my senses when I realize that the people listening to me go off for the millionth time have lovingly listened every time, let me have my tantrum and have only supported me. They don't deserve my anger or my self pity. They deserve the positive love and support they've given me since day one. I even decided to spend a year and a half by myself off grid in the woods. Didn't tell anyone I was leaving, when I got back to my senses and civilization, these people welcomed me home with bitching about worried they were and how dare I do that to them..
      I'm lucky to have the "family" I have now, I'm angry, but I'm more happy that I have people that care that much.
      Don't be angry, or sad, please be happy and love those in your life. They deserve your happiness and positivity.

Well there's a female schoolmate of mine who's birthday is 10 days after mine and more importantly our baby pictures are identical. Like so identical that you might would have thought it was the same kid in two different pictures. Well anyways while at the dance this classmate and I were chatting when her father walks up. His eyes dart back and forth between his daughter and I and you could see the shock in his eyes as though he was looking at a ghost. Though by 18 we looked pretty different you could see certain similarities between she and I. I knew he was wondering if I was his other daughter because my classmate and I had several discussions prior about how freaky the baby pic resemblance was.
